Lo-Fi Jazz is like that by itself. I also thought it was a problem with Sound Canvas VA, and then I realized that the MIDI is programmed that way. This also gives it a vintage, old speaker style.

I think an SD-90 is used, not an SC-88Pro. From GBA to DS, Pokémon can hear distinctive SD-90 sounds, such as snare drums. The SD-90 contains a new sound that is a complete change from the SC series.

I have 4 Sound Canvas moules including the SC-88 Pro and I still use them. I don't think there are any sounds on the SC-88 Pro that are unusable. Some of the sounds like the electrc guitars, flute and clarinet still sound realistic enough to fool some people. The clean guitar is still one electric guitar sound I use a lot even today especially if I need that particular tone. Even though I also now have the SC-8850 I still prefer some of the SC-88 Pro's sounds like the pianos and clarinet and I prefer the SC-88/88 Pro drum kits. The SC-88 Pro is also capible of emulating the SC-88/88vl 100% although SC-55 emulation can be a bit off so if you can you should also get an SC-55 if you particularly like the SC-55's sounds.

The guitars do indeed sound sick in some of these tracks, especially 12. Some of that is down to the sounds being good, but I have to say, having dissected the actual MIDI files a bit, a lot of that is down to *incredibly* skilled programming. A lot of what sound like single parts are actually very layered and make use of multiple instrument patches and a lot of carefully programmed pitch-bends for the legato sections of the lead lines. This isn't to say the unit itself isn't incredible, but definitely a lot of credit should go to the people composed/implemented the tracks.
@山下卓郎-b9tАй бұрын
This is largely due to the insertion effect. An overdrive effect called OD1/OD2 is used. This insertion effect is applied to all guitar channels except bass and drums. If you try to remove the insertion effect, you will get a “cheap MIDI-like” sound.

@DaniPlay9124 ай бұрын
Rather, I wonder how the hell do they manage to try to recreate a human voice using instruments?
@山下卓郎-b9tАй бұрын
This is done using an insertion effect called Humanizer. This effect adds vowel sounds to the sound. When this is applied to a synth lead or pad type tone, it sounds like a chorus of ahh, eeh, uhh, ehh, ooh, and so on, depending on the vowels you specify. So it is not singing a specific word. A similar effect is also available in the YAMAHA MU series.

Not only the SC-88Pro, but also the voice data and DACs in the Roland SC series have output frequency limitations. High frequencies are output only up to about 17 KHz. This is degraded audio that even an old ear can understand. However, the data in this video is output up to around 20KHz, so it may have been processed by up-sampling. Or maybe they are using SC-VA only for the audio.

@LittleRichard1988 Жыл бұрын
There are no soundfonts for this but Cakewalk's TTS-1 is a general midi 2 VST instrument based on a mix of SC-88 Pro and SC-8850 samples and especially considering it's free it's not bad apart from the standard kit having the same issue with snare 2 as the Roland E09 were the tight snare/rimshot is a synth snare. Honestly Sound Canvas VA is not expensive and it's the cheapest way to have all the sounds from the SC-88 Pro plus all the SC-8820 sounds so SCVA is basically an SC-88 Pro with more drum kits and slightly more GS variations. Or you could save up and buy an actual SC-88 Pro. If you have a job then paying a few hundred for one is no hardship.
@ChristianRap198 Жыл бұрын
@@LittleRichard1988 TTS-1 is a good tool, I do not have money for the SC-88, I do not know where to buy it, the Roland company does not produce mini versions, as it was with Jupiter, Juno and other tools, I will try to look for the SC-88 in stores where similar products are sold.
