$250 for 1/9 of the spd-sx ($799.99). Seems silly, and like an obvious cash grab.
@65Drums7 жыл бұрын
The only way I can see this as being a decent deal is if a drummer was going to spend $800 on a SPD multi Pad, and then realized he only wanted to use 3 samples and didn't need that big expensive thing. In that case, the drummer would save money buying this. Other than that specific situation, I don't see a good reason to buy this at $250.
@TravWD216 жыл бұрын
65 Drums that's exactly why I'm looking at them. I'd love to buy the spd-sx but I don't need one. I play in a metal band. At the moment I need 2 samples to lead in 2 songs. Plus a sub drop and a gong. This pad is perfect for that. $319aud in Australia is a lot, but Roland just works.

But I can play this with my foot at an acoustic gig.
@girlpusher36046 жыл бұрын
To everyone addressing the price, he completely misses the selling point of this pad. I am a drummer that uses a laptop and interface with in ear monitors to play my backing tracks live to a click track. This device lets you play an entire sets backing tracks without having to bring your entire computer and interface to the gig. This is AMAZING and completely worth it. To dismiss it as just a sampling pad as he did in the video is completely inaccurate.
@albertoromero34314 жыл бұрын
Have you had any issues so far? I want to leave my laptop at home too. I'm concerned it crashes live. It has happened with my SPD-SX, when running a backing track and a WAV click.
@echiocciolini3 жыл бұрын
Ok but.. How can you have the monitor channel to hear the band?
@zeco_vlog2 жыл бұрын
@@echiocciolini this is not supposed to do that, technically it should go to your monitoring system that have should have two inputs, one for monitoring mix, another for click. We use wireless in ear monitoring system that have two channel inputs. This way the whole band have click and can control if they want to hear it on each receiver separately.
@treyhughes3283 Жыл бұрын
That is exactly what I've been wondering, I'm in a project currently that is heavily reliant on samples and a base drops at specific points, but now that we have a drummer I needed something that could keep him in time while still backlining those aspects.

Cool unit...still cool ...Midi - USB - Multi-layered samples - Metronome out to headphone only if desired - Mounting harware provided - 12 mem slots - 4gb mem - 360 min of audio small size and looks cool and it's just what I needed....built tough no complaints

This is exactly what I need for my gig. It’s not overpriced compared to buying a six pad unit with tons of bells and whistles when all you need is one clap sample.

what happened to the sample number 1 you've just launch if you switch the button to sample number 2 ou number 3 ? Will it stop right away the sample that is currently playing, or will it continue to play in the background until the end of the sample ?
@zeco_vlog2 жыл бұрын
I will tel you why it IS innovative. I have been looking for the device I can use to trigger backing tracks for our gigs and click tracks synchronized without laptop, phone, or player in conjunction with mixers that will route backs to stage and click to my in-ear monitors. There are no such device except LP-16 player that is really hard to find for sale and which still is a bit complex to use. This one first of all has both channels in stereo, it does not need any other device to act as a player, it is all in one and is more reliable than having bulky laptop wired to something like focusrite, or even the phone with mixer where you had to split back and click to L and R channel
@treyhughes3283 Жыл бұрын
Do you think I could use it for my current project where the songs are heavily reliant on samples and bass drops at very specific places, but also have a click track for our drummer to listen to to stay in time with those samples
@stevenmcnair18977 жыл бұрын
The big difference between the Old Boss and SPDwav is the separate click playback which you didn't touch on at all
@Deech726 жыл бұрын
Can you set it so that WAVs plays back the same volume every time (through ears and PA) no matter how hard/soft you hit it? I've been using the Yamaha DTX for a couple of years and was disappointed to find out the file size is incredibly small for WAVs. Most of the reason I got it was so that I could play back full song sequence WAVs through the PA. I was thinking of selling it and getting the SPD SX, but thought this would solve it even though it's more money than I'd like. The band offered to split it though.

I am in a band currently that is heavily reliant on samples and bass drops played at very specific moments, we've been using a laptop with the drums and samples and drops, but now that we have a drummer could this be potentially used to keep the drummer in time with the samples and base drops. I've never bought addictive drums for any of the other ones. I can't really bring my self to spend hundreds of dollars on all of that when I already have decent software. But if I do, I'll be sure to make videos on them :)

Very good. If it was $80 maybe $100 I would buy it for certain gigs instead of carrying around a big sample pad or electronic gear but the price is too much. I think I will look elsewhere. The only thing I agree with pricing right now with Roland is the digital snare and ride although most of the cost is actually in the research to make the digital programing to read the differences. The pads themselves use common electronics that's been around a few years but I understand they need to recoup the cost in research for the digital programing. It is new, groundbreaking and hopefully comes down in price overtime. But I totally agree with you on these single pads.

You can buy the TM2 module with the RT 30K and RT 30HR and 2 Bt1s for around £450. More expensive I know but far more you can do. Would add though,BT1s in my opinion are shit. Had my two for over 12 months and the one now only triggers intermittand. Not what I expect from Roland.

Pro tip, this isn’t $250 in the real world. It’s $200.
@lukehighdriver6 жыл бұрын
If this box were $100 it would be made out of plastic (not a good a idea for those wishing to trigger it with their feet) and certainly wouldn't have a decent-sounding pitch shifting algorithm as well. Easy to criticise the price- far harder to research, develop, manufacture and distribute a product that will be used and appreciated by pros the world over. The intellectual property alone is worth $100. Something costing too much for the features and build on offer is not the same as it being out of someone's price range. Quality costs.
@jeffbateman23395 жыл бұрын
But is it overpriced??? You failed to mention that in the review. 😉 Thanks for sharing!
@Tarzanellandia Жыл бұрын
You said nothing about the product, you just kept repeating that it’s “overpriced”. Got it. Reality is this thing it’s pretty unique, super small and portable sampling device which is more than that. It allows to play background tracks altogether with a headphones click for the drummer only, so if your band uses pre-recorded sounds and the drummer has to synch to them, with this device you can leave the computer home. Pretty cool. Too pricy? Don’t buy it.
