I did my first pass but...I got a lot of small horizontal lines. What did I do wrong? I may not have used enough mud? Not sure. Any advice would be appreciated! Doing a hallway ceiling. L shaped. Thanks!

Ceiling is harder than wall. Probably pushing too hard or have dry material on surface getting pushed by the blade

WHY DO YOU GUYS SAND???? 47 years doing drywall never sanded anything. Maybe residue off a bullnose corner bead but other than that...nope
