Great video, although I find the opposite with slimmer wheels, that I get more grip from them because my weight is concentrated on a smaller surface area.

Are you still active? I note that your last video came about 3 years ago. But you have made some great informational videos that have really helped me, so thanks.

I recently switched from poisons to radar bullet 93a's, and I'm really enjoying the speed and agility they give. However, in the course of a month, the ridges are already wearing down noticeably. Cheers! great videos!

Hey! Thanks for a great video! I was wondering if you know if there are wheels for side-by-side skates that works well on uneven outdoor surfaces but also with the ability to perform simple dance tricks (if the combination is even possible) :)

78A is about the softest wheel you can find. Perfect for small cracks, small twigs, gravel/sand, and some smaller pebbles. As for size, look for a wheel that's around 55 to 57mm by 30 to 33mm.

If I'm skating on wheels that are pretty wide and soft and I'm ready to move up to something with a little less grip/more maneuverability, would you recommend I go slimmer or harder first? I'm on Flat Outs right now (88A).

what do you recommend for hard wood floors

Is it dirty or well-maintained? Is it basic wood, "rink" wood (maple rotunda), polished, or coated? What type of skating are you doing? Each of these things will effect which wheel you want...as well as your weight. As for weight, the heavier you are, the more grip you'll get from a harder wheel...alternately, the lighter you are, the less grip you'll get from a softer wheel. This is also effected by hub type as well. A hubless wheel allows more give, a nylon hubbed wheel is average, while a metal hubbed wheel has very little to no give. As for the rest, I'd need a few more details to properly advise on which durometer would be best.

@@MystiqueRisingSun I know it’s 3 yrs late but…I play in a junior derby team so we practice at a boys and girls club which has a typical school gymnasium floor. It’s wooden. I’ve told my coaches multiple times that I’m scared to do a crossover because I feel like I’ll slide and fall. They told me that it was because the floor is dirty and that they try to keep it somewhat clean with a broom but I still feel like I need different wheels.

@@nananom_ A slightly softer wheel may be what you want. With derby, you DON'T - necessarily - want "outdoor" wheels, but going down a few durometers may help you with that feeling. If you're currently skating on a 95A, try a 92 instead. If you're on a 103A, going to that 95 or 96 could help. Etc.
