Roller shutter door will not open or close,/faulty safety brake,commen fault

Had this issue with my garage door today, found the manufacturers troubleshooting guide very poor and safety brake reset unclear. This video really helped and after repositioning the brake black screws to 12,3,6 and 9 positions it worked again. Many thanks for posting.

Interesting video - however, as a way of a suggestion, as you exposed the 'brake', showing what it looks like and what it does ... it would of been really good if you were to actually demonstrate the brake working. Not sure how you would do that but it's my understanding that if the motor failed in some way, the weight of the shutters being on the motor itself, the shutters would just fall to the ground under gravity and their own weight - thus basically slamming into the ground - god help anyone underneath those shutters if the brake failed. That I believe is how the brake works and kicks in to stop the shutters falling under their own weight. My question is: when I press the raise button to open up my roller door, it has now started going up very slowly making a deafening high pitch screeching sound - like the sound of a trucks brakes going downhill. Could this be a motor fault or could it be my brake is stuck on?

Have same door and have already changed "straps" some time ago but just yesterday door wont move anymore. I dont hear any click of reley its just deaf. I have noticed that last two times like door strugled to open couls it be this brake? Reley? Any suggestions? :)

Hi there, If the brake is engaged then you will hear the motor whining trying to operate the door. Regards Gary

@@lordbrindley3061 well i found a problem I am a little ashamed to disclose it here but here it goes :) I am renovating house.. and someone put main electricity switch off and offcorse that was main problem :)

Hi John, yes the brake is the opposite end to the motor,i think the brake might move round when the roller shutter jumps a bit,i.e sudden jerky movement, Regards Gary.

That I information isn't correct, if a safety brake activates the door is not going to move. So you saying it moves up half way and down half way is not correct

Hi there,basically if the mechanical brake has repositioned itself for example if the pinch bolt became loose then it needs rotating left or right, in my example it was braking the motor all the time after becoming loose,hope this helps, regards.
