Thank you! The “be precarious” advice turned on a light bulb for me. Tried it the next day and my rolling improved, just like that. No hip tightening. Please give out more nuggets like that... love learning from you!

Wow that is good news! So glad you found this tip to be helpful - the body wants to save itself and OMG you find your stomach and your butt in the process. I find it to be very helpful as well :) Thanks for your kind words and for watching - and yes I will keep sharing the things I find to be helpful for teaching and for our own workout, right? Keep up the good work! xox

Thank you again Andrea, I’m a a big fan of yours! Please, when you have time do you mind doing a walkover video? I’m afraid of hanging upside down. I’m working g on it but can’t bring my second foot to the end bar of the Cadillac to join my second foot. I’m afraid I’ll “lose my balance” (if that makes sense). Having my feet split at opposite ends feels safe, but definitely not when they’re together 😱

This series is perfect for me...I am just starting my Pilates Teacher training and your and Leslie’s videos are so helpful. Great reference tools for when I am not in the studio with my instructors. Would love to learn different ways to get down to the mat and stand up without using my hands :-)

Oh yes, that is such a crucial skill! Thanks for the suggestion and I will add it to the list :) Thank you so much for watching! xo

Hi Andrea, thanks so much for making this video as I begin my Pilates journey, I think you are a fantastic teacher! Could you please share what kind of mat you are using? I've tried exercises on 2 yoga mats and it still feels hard. I would love to get my hands on one like you have with the bar and the strap. Any info on what they are called or where to buy is appreciated. Thank you!!!

Hi Mary-Ann :) Welcome to Pilates - how lovely you are beginning this journey. Thank you so much for watching and joining in the conversation here, it is great to have you. Thank you for the kind words on my teaching xox The High Mat I have is made by Gratz Industries. Here is the link: www.pilates-gratz.com/collections/mats/products/high-mat-folding-high-mat I have the one with the 'high mat handles' which are lower than the level of the mat itself. I love it - I have had it since 2010 and it is amazing... and you get to pick an upholstery color - fun!! Once you do your mat exercises on a mat like this you'll never be happy on yoga mats again LOL... check them out and please let them know I referred you :) Cheers to you and have a great day!

Hi, thanks for the struggle series - I love your videos! One question: why does holding a ball under the knees help people to roll like a ball? I’m thinking it simply aids in c-shape and turning on glutes. Thoughts?

You are right - holding the ball there also helps avoid cheating by using the legs to build momentum and throwing oneself back up. So it makes the stomach work harder as well.
