If one judges a football team by the strength of its substitutes, then one might judge a rock'n'roll band by the quality of its outtakes (... and then I guess we have a clear winner).

You're right. I've been working ( and playing) for football. This Band is more than the so-called Champions-League

This sound goes way back to very early Stones, England's Newest Hit Makers. And they cannibalize riffs from it on later albums. The connections explain why you instantly recognize their sound.

@@patrickcallahan9599 This would have been a huge improvement over Back to Zero and Fight, IMO. Would have changed the whole feel of the album.

If I were at a Stones concert, I'd want to hear the final Rockier version, but relaxing at home with Salma, Penny, Liz and a few joints, Spanish fly (and the goats, of course), I'd much prefer this more soulful, funkier, groovier in the altogether...like... thing, man, Mr Townshend....So, when do I get another driving lesson?

If you don't like the blues, why do persist in listening to this music? A classic symptom of psychopathic behavior, or action demonstrating a severe disconnection with reality, is when an individual does the same act repeatedly in the same way and under the same conditions, yet expects an outcome different from the previous result. I'm making no insinuation about your mental health, but why listen if you don't like it? The blues have always been an integral part of the Stones. We like it.

Too many times we hear outtakes from the 70's to that would have made their albums much better. Side B of Tatto You was a great example of great songs from that period that made a great record. They came up with great ideas alomst complete in the 80's too. Think I'm Goin Mad should never have been a B side to a single either. This is one very fine example. It's what would have shut up dissappointed Stones fans. Or those who don't appreciate Ronnie or think Jagger has lost it and completely sold out. They may not always make the best decisions and I'd imagine that since they weren't getting along at all during Dirty Work if indeed this came from thpse sessions they never got back to doing this track. Winning Ugly and Back to Zero were good tracks off that record so it still had the potential to be a better record.

If shorter and with Jagger's voice louder than the music background, this would have been part of the DIRTY WORK album.

Great organ sound, adds depth to the Stones tone. So would that be our Georgia tree farmer, Chuck Leavell, on keys? Sadly, I believe the Stones' beloved keyboardist, Ian Stewart, had just passed around the time of this recording... Doug Pratt Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Doug Pratt, Ooh! I disagree.... organ on here sounds really cheesy to me !! but the whole thing is a good fun mess at this point ! I did read that there was a 'final version' that included Bobby Womack , which would make it the same time as ' Harlem Shuffle, 1985/ 6 recording ? ** ( Stews' sudden death left a huge hole in the Group, he was truly respected/ loved by all them I think ) ** ' Keno's Rolling Stones Website' under 'songs & lyric' section. I think it's very well researched

Great track that would have made Dirty Work far more interesting. But the problem with Dirty Work is less the quality of the compositions than the sound engineering (as it is the case with almost anything released in the mid 80s). Maybe it is precisely the fact that this outtake is a demo that makes it so attractive compared to the album.

Tony D'Amico, you didn't hear it before because the song is just a demo or an outtake from the album recording sessions.
