That first roll was like a dance - incredible to watch. I've recently rolled with a blue and brown belt that used this style of limited muscle, all technique. What a pleasure and great opportunity to learn.

There were a lot of valuable lessons in both rolls. One example was using a two-on-one/ arm drag movement to pass the legs! Thank you.

beautiful stuff, that 1st blue belt was so nice and relaxed which is just graet to see. lots of really advanced upper belts learned early on to stay nice and relaxed which is quite counter intuitive when you're learning, especially since at those early stages one's ego is still very much a large part of their game, i was guilty of that myself at that level too. the juxtaposition between the 1st and 2nd blue belts was also a great contrast to see that you don't necessarily need to go hard (2nd), because not only will the person gas quicker but once they go up against an opponent who's just as fast and strong, then it strictly becomes a game of technique (and maybe luck), so learning to go slow is a better long term strategy. by the way, that triangle attempt off of the sweep was great, fair play to him (2nd blue belt) for defending properly and trying the double under. good work and excellent vibes as always, much respect from a fellow jiujiteiro.

Great channel love the narrative aspect of the videos. I’m 58 been doing this almost a year, two strained knees, and four bruised ribs so far and I’m still here haha I was a black belt martial artist and competitive kick-boxer when I was young. Jujitsu is a whole other ballgame and even though my body is a lot more prone to injuries, I’m addicted and won’t give up. Your vids are helping me very much through this learning adventure.

I just missed a couple of weeks due to some weird rib injury. Just remember to stay loose and study. Learn as much as you can as fast as possible. It will reduce your chances of injury

Thanks for your videos. I started also filiming myself with my gopro as a blue belt. You learn a lot, mistakes, i shoudve done that. Etc. In the gym i was known as the gopro guy because of me editing in lumafusion its kinda fun app for editing. I would set up my go pro hero 8 Superwide so it can film everybody rolling. Sometimes they ask a video on their rolls because i can zoom in on anyone on the editing app. They teamates always thanks me for it. Since they probably learned something by watching themselves. Im a purple belt now and started following purple belts on what their mindset or their moves that are effective. I also like to watch you since your in your 50s and i like the way you roll and commentary. I also like Jitsu over 50 channel hes a blackbelt over 50 tons of knowledge. I like this video especially rolling easy vs rolling competitive since i competed. I know the difference. I started at age 36, im 42 now and if i want to do jiu jitsu for long time l need to be wiser when i roll now. That you come in. My competive days are over because i moved back to my birthplace Small island of bohol Philippines. There is only one gym in the City. I visited them the other day and introduce myself. I start today my first roll. I took 1 year break because of land and house building, fishing business and had to get use to the place. Ive been here more than a year so i went and pull the trigger joining bjj again. BJJ for me not just keeps me in shape while having fun. Also basketball and light weight lifting is all i need to get in shape. Started another hobby called freestyle social dancing. I realixe now as i age dancing is kinda fun just doing small moves just blending into the crowd and women like dancing so its the best way to meet them while having. Fun. I follow GetDance, the instructor is Monika. I just follow along while she dance to a song fast or slow and i like her way of teaching. If i like a dance move theres timestamps on the description of the video her doing the tutorial on how to lesrn it. In just 3 weeks my dancing got way better. Instead of just doing the same one move over again. Im also confident dancing in clubs heck i do jiu jitsu is mainly a confidence booster. In shape, can dance, pretty much you learn anything you want in life if you put effort into it. Thats what Jiu Jitsu taught me. BJJ with the right coach and you two just clicked and become good friends. Can change your life for the better. For me i was lucky. As soon i walked inside my first day and met my black belt coach i knew its going to be hard quit because hes just a nice guy. Hes bjj skills are classic Gracie moves and hes legit. 4 years of sparring with him i never got to pass him. Got submitted him. Hes like velcro, doing feet hooks your legs and i get sweep in seconds. Than he sticks with you with amazing classic control and im 15 pounds heavier than him.

Thank you for watching and sharing your experience! I will check that channel out. I always say it is great to do other things to stay active besides BJJ. I go hiking and ride an electric skateboard. It sounds like you found a good place.

I enjoyed the two rolls vid. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I'm from Mexico so I don't get some details but i try to understand as much as I can. For example when you say I asked him not to muscle me I understood that he should not go with a lot of energy and force right? You made me remember a roll that i had yesterday he is a 22 guy years old, strong, and he went for me so fast, so strong , with a lot of energy, I don't know if you remember but I told you I'm 35 years old and I've had train 1 month, well they were 2 hard minutes because he was trying like we were in a tournament but after those two minutes, he couldn't breath at all we need to stop cause he gas out I think it is the expression. So thanks again for sharing the details of your rolls cause I learn from them.

I call the arm across a howdy choke. I would'nt say knee shield is primitive. Knee shield is for getting up. I was an mma fighter. If you don't have constant pressure on a fighter, they are getting to their feet. So it is a little different concept than rolling. But I think jou jitsu is the best art for self defense
