I'm Always Trying to Manage Different Customer Expectations | Send Help

In the dumpster and junk removal business, dealing with customers can be a wild ride! It's fascinating how different clients can have such varied personalities and expectations. You start to notice this more and more as you move away from doing this as a side hustle and start doing it full time - day in and day out.
Sometimes, it's the smallest clients who can cause the most headaches. They might have specific requirements, unreasonable expectations, or be more particular about the details that aren't necessarily important. Which can make the job a bit more challenging. But hey, it's all part of the adventure, right?
On the other hand, I've noticed that some of our biggest clients in the dumpster and junk removal space can actually be the easiest to work with. They often have well-established processes and clear communication, which makes everything run smoothly. Plus, they tend to understand the ins and outs of the business, so there's less back-and-forth. It's definitely a relief when you have those big clients who make your job a whole lot easier!
But don't get me wrong, some realllly big companies have also caused us massive headaches in the past. When one hand of the company isn't talking to the other, the whole project is a mess. So size isn't necessarily the determining factor, as much as an efficient workplace.
But hey, no matter the size of the client, every interaction teaches us something new. It's all about adapting to different personalities and finding ways to provide excellent service.
So, even if some clients can be a bit more challenging, it's all part of the journey in the dumpster and junk removal business! 🗑️💪😄

Just advice from a multiple year dump truck driver. Never stand outside of the truck while dumping. Especially dirt. Things can get wrong when n a heartbeat and you won’t have time to stop it from outside the truck. Love watching the channel. Just an fyi.

Very good point. I originally got out to look at the way it was dumping. I didn't like the angle. I had it leaning. Hard to tell in the video, but the truck was leaned away from me, almost decided to move it because from another angle, it looked tip worthy. But that's a good point and I should get in a better habit.

@@rollingops dirt is probably the most difficult and the most dangerous material or a dump truck as far as staying in the truck for two reasons, your safer plus also from experience if a hose bust while dumping you don’t get the shower lol. Also one trick is to try to align your mirrors up with the front corners of the bed vertically that will also let you know if it’s starting to lean from one side to the other.

Glad to see a new video out. Old or new equipment can be a pain. But I'd rather have something sitting that is nowhere near close to the price of a new piece of equipment sitting versus that high dollar equipment and you can't use it cuz you can't get parts at the moment or very easy. As long as it looks good most of the time and it gets the job done it's the biggest part.

New equipment for rentals and machine you use often, vintage equipment for the less frequent jobs. With old stuff I like to buy junkers to strip for parts and keep em in storage. Putting a dumpster inside is a big advantage for workers. Now as for customer attitudes yes there are many different personalities to deal with. Language barrier is a big thing around here. personally I have been basically out of business because my pickup truck is basically dead, and I am trying to get the van that has sat for 11 years going.

There is a room for a hitch and we do plan to add one! Big Betty will likely see a massive transformation at some point. Because my vision for her involves a sleak vintage exterior and interior with a modern power plant hidden under the hood.

I love your videos and content. Very informative. I am thinking about opening up a business here in NE FL. Currently I own a RAM 1500 ecodiesel. What trailer do you have and do you think my truck could do the job or would I need a true 3/4 ton?

I have the same motor in my jeep wrangler as the eco motor you're talking about in your ram. I would highly suggest biting the bullet and getting a 2500 truck at a minimum. You need a heavier duty suspension, frame, axle and transmission. I know it's tempting to try it, but this will save you some serious headache later.

Hey Clayton. Love your videos. I run my roll offs here in south Atlanta and west Georgia area. Mostly residential clean-outs. What was your best way to get into the commercial relationships? I'll be honest, they tend to find me. Comercial and brokers. Google is your best friend. You just want to show up on the map first with the best rating and reviews. It goes a long way.

I have the same issues sometimes. Do you ever charge a dry run fee? Ive wanted to but im also appreciative of the businesses so i try to be understanding.

If I'm having a lot of issues and I'm not worried about having them as a customer again, yes. But if it is a reasonable situation or I've done a lot of business with them no.

Do you think the new big motor gas trucks are upto towing your roll off setup

I would always suggest diesel, but I've seena few guys do gas, they typically make the switch at some point though

Another thing you could try Clayton would bar and chain lube as it sticks better and doesn't wash out or even better get a bottle of gear oil and just keep it in the truck. Just put a dab of oil down each rail every day and it will keep it nice and lubed.

Not a bad idea, that stuff works well, and the smell sticks around forever haha
