He made it through the 1970s because he was an intelligent junkie and quite scared of overdosing. Keef never overindulged or went off drugs for extended intervals. He maintained a steady pace and shied away from needles.

@Nerdy old white Guy I've gone through withdrawal quite a few times. It got to the point that as soon as just the yawns started I'd panic because I knew what was in store for me. God I hate that feeling, you're in a twilight zone feeling like you'll never be happy again. I don't know what's worse, the physical or mental pain but both together you feel like death. Wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy. Glad you got out of the shit mate, it takes an iron will. All the best 👍

Why is it, that the only thing people ever seem to comment on about Keith Richards, is his 'druggy image', and how he'll never die, etc etc. Strange how no one ever makes mention of the many great songs he's written and played on, or his musical abilities and his stunning skill as a guitarist? Well ok... forget about that part about 'stunning skill as a guitarist'.

Great comment mate, purely because a large majority seem to be attracted to hit songs and the whole sex, drugs rock n roll image rather than having patience and exploring artists for their talent and contribution. All I could do was stay stagnant, and after quitting it's taken more time than I'd like to admit to get back to where I was before starting drugs. What I will say is that the experience has given me the soul-pain necessary to create new material.

Everyone talks about how amazing it is that Kieth is still alive after all the years of doing drugs, drinking and smoking. Because he's in the limelight it seems it's amazing, which it is. In reality, he's an exceptional case. 95% of people who've lived this lifestyle are dead.

I think he survived because he was doing what he wanted. It's my opinion the people who do what they want are healthier and long lived, compared to angry, frustrated people. I'm convinced that getting your own way is probably the most important thing for your health. Being angry and denied makes people literally ill.

@@AbadllahDeBourgogne I know it seems weird, but in my life I've seen so many people who were just unhappy, and i think stress kills. I've survived cancer, rheumatoid arthritis and other immune issues, and feel convinced I have lived so long because I'm living the life I want to live! I learned a huge lesson from watching my mom and sister live in total frustration, they were always unhappy and angry. I really never wanted to live that way! Obviously, this is just my opinion, but i think I outlived everyone because I truly was very happy with my life! Have been happily married for 38 years, live in a hundred year old haunted house and adopt rescue animals, it's fantastic! Of course not everyone would think my life great, but I love it!
