If you are familiar with some teen horror movies (6 teenagers get lost and are killed one after the other) then you should definitely watch "Tucker and Dale vs. Evil" . The only parody of such horror films that turned out really well. By that I mean clever humor and not this "scary movie" crap. Really funny and intelligently done. Playing with prejudice.

Fun Fact: Although not named, that is suppose to be John McClane. Willis did the cameo for this movie, in character, as a personal favor to his brother David Willis, who is the producer of this movie. Willis' cameo spoofed the fact he only "worked" in Los Angeles, as he actually "lives" in New York City.

Fantastic reaction! Loaded Weapon 1 is the perfect parody film to watch after Lethal Weapon and other 80s/90s action films. “I'm not sure Sarg. It's a nagging, itching, burning sensation. What the hell do you expect? Your foot's on fire!”.

The angry screaming black police chief is an old cliché. Last Action Hero was playing on that same sarcastic trope. Every movie police department needs the screaming angry black police chief yelling about the rogue cop tearing up the city.

Airplane is definitely a parody movie and no Lethal Weapon 4 wasn't out yet. Yeah, this one would definitely be better to watch in a group.

The valet at 10:05 is Charlie Sheen. He was in the hot shot movies and then had his famous meltdown on 2 and a half men. Interesting fact, he's also Emilio Estevez's brother. His real name is Carlos Estevez. Their father is Martin Sheen (perhaps a bit before your time), real name Ramon Antonio Gerard Estevez. The big bad guy is William Shatner AKA Capt Kirk and also a fellow Canadian (shame on you for not recognising him :P). The henchman was Tim Curry, who played a mad transvestite scientist in the Rocky Horror Picture Show (another film you should definitely watch). The lady killed (several times) by Tim Curry is Whoopi Goldberg, these days best known for the view, but also well known for playing ten forward's bartender, Guinan on Star Trek: TNG.

Loaded Weapon 1 was right on the cusp of the parody genre burning out. It's still pretty solid, but The Naked Gun had already perfected the police procedural spoof, and even the Naked Gun sequels felt a little old hat. The genre had to develop beyond the ZAZ model to stay effective, and it's notable that Austin Powers (1997) gave its main character more genuine and sincere character development.

The valet was Charlie Sheen. He's actually Emilio Estevez's brother. Their father was Martin Sheen (APOCALYPSE NOW, THE DEPARTED). Emilio Estevez was in THE MIGHTY DUCKS and THE BREAKFAST CLUB and some other stuff in the 80s. Love your bizarre "color worship". LOL. I do the same thing.

Emilio and Charlie wrote/directed/starred in their own movie Men At Work. I think they directed. Critics hated it but I actually thought it had good moments.

My favorite joke is Emilio always rolling around and shooting like the time Mel Gibson does it. I mean there are plenty of easy, lame, dumb jokes, but some jokes do hit, and I judge a parody or any comedy on how many jokes land

Yea reviewing a dumb comedy film on the meritocratic value of film making is kind of like eating a snack from a vending machine and trying to see how it holds up to a Michelan star dining experience. To really enjoy this style of film one needs to slam a gravity bong just before you hit play.

Yeah, I just watched someone basically do the same with Naked Gun. It’s like they don’t realize it’s just pure ridiculous comedy that just plays with tropes & pop culture. It’s not supposed to make sense. It’s kind of a waste having young people do these kinds of reactions cause they miss so many cultural jokes from the 80’s & 90’s that it’s like them only watching half a movie.

I always liked Thai movie. My dad got it on VHS back in like 1994 or thereabouts but it was even funnier when you watched it right after watching a movie it parodied, for example Silence of the Lambs.

This film has some great jokes, but also has too many lazy parodies of mediocre films that were released shortly before it in the early 90s clumsily shoehorned into the plot. Thirty years later (god i feel old) it is hard to remember what they are making fun of sometimes. The send ups of the more generic action film tropes are far more timeless and work better, as well as when it is spoofing older more iconic scenes that are imprinted in the memories of film lovers (eg Dirty Harry - which is what he is referring to when counting the bullets he has fired) but even those won't work quite as well with a youthful viewer hasn't seen the original film or absorbed the references through pop culture osmosis yet.
