It is our faith in Jesus that motivate us to obey His commandments (because we are already saved the moment we accept as our Lord and Saviour) because obeying Him is the fruit of our Salvation through His grace alone.

I am so deeply grieved by his statement, "trusting in Jesus does not guarantee heaven" oh my goodness, my heart breaks!!! Salvation is given by God to those who put their faith in Jesus Christ. We do not keep ourselves saved by works; Jesus Himself keeps us (John 6:39,44). James 2 says works will be the evidence of our faith. Works are proof that we are genuinely saved.

If the works are proof, then the works are required. As sinners, we are on a sinking ship. Jesus offers us a row boat, free and undeserved. But we need to row it to the shores of heaven. Through faith in Christ, we are granted the strength to row, but row we must.
@HillbillyBlack
@HillbillyBlack Жыл бұрын
@@MagnusVonBlack The key to works in James 2 is 2:25. Never stop right at 2:24. Context us everything. James is wrapping up his case that genuine faith in God naturally results in a believer participating in good works. After showing how Abraham's saving faith caused him to act, James cites one more example from the Old Testament: Rahab the prostitute. Rahab's story is told in Joshua chapter 2. She was a citizen of Jericho who had heard the stories of Israel's mighty God and believed them: "The Lord your God, he is God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath" (Joshua 2:11). So when Israel's spies showed up to prepare for the battle against Jericho, Rahab hid them and helped them escape. Because of her actions, God spared Rahab and her family from the destruction to follow. It's important not to read something into the Bible which the author does not actually say. James point is not that Rahab's salvation was accomplished by what she did. The entire context of his discussion has been knowing what kind of faith it is that actually saves. Rahab's actions revealed that her faith in Israel's God was more than simply opinion: it was trusting, genuine faith. It's one thing to claim belief (James 2:14), or to have knowledge (James 2:19), but Rahab demonstrated that she had real saving faith-she "was justified," as James is using the term here-by courageously trusting the God of Israelites. This trust led inevitably to her good deeds. This is in perfect harmony with other New Testament passages such as Hebrews 11:31: "By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies." Genuine faith in God and good works always go together. Works do not save, but they naturally flow from a legitimate relationship with Christ.

But Raztadog, Ephesians 2;10, thr very next verse, speaks of good works! Don't cherry-pick verses in the Bible. Accept the Bible as a whole. If you can't accept the Church's teachong authority over the Bible at least go by the sound pronciple of letting scripture interpret scripture. For instance Ephesians 2:8-9 must be interpreted in the light of Matthew 25:31-46 and James 2:26.

@@andrewortiz9226 The Doctrine of Salvation (a general term) can be broken down into it's specifics (regeneration, conversion - which involves faith and repentance, justification, sanctification and glorification). The Apostle Paul in that verse (Phil. 2:12) when he uses the word salvation is talking about sanctification. Sanctification is a process by which God enables man to grow into Christ likeness. Sanctification does not save us as Ken Yasinski says it does in this video. He is combining regeneration (God alone does it) with sanctification (God enables man to do it). Ken is saying all of this is required for salvation. Regeneration is an act, God alone does, in which He imparts new spiritual life, that is being born again (John 3). The regenerating work of God alone is what saves us. Sanctification is the process that reveals that we are in fact saved by God's grace. Working out our salvation with fear and trembling is the evidence of, but not the means to our salvation. Being sanctified will involve being baptized, the desire to live a righteous life (with God's help), believing that Jesus Christ is co-equal in nature with the Father and an increasing love for God and others. These acts are the fruit of our salvation, but not the reason why we are saved. We should place our faith in Christ alone for the forgiveness of our sins. I hope this helps. God bless you!

But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate before the Father-Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. Lots of people on this page saying that this guy is a false teacher and that Satan is messing with him. Wanna know something interesting? This guy is correct. We are all saved, but there are sins that we commit that separate us from God. These are serious sins that must be forgiven through the sacrament of reconciliation. Smaller sins can be forgiven through prayer and personal repentance but if you continue to commit the same sin then it needs to be addressed in confession. I understand there is a lot of conflict due to this video, but I’m very happy to see that there are people who are trying to defend the word of Christ. I don’t think any Christian religion can make you go to hell. I think Lutherans, Baptists, Episcopal’s can all be saved. I’m not sure where people come up with the idea that Catholics believe all other protestant religions go to hell, because, as a Catholic myself, I was never taught that. My church never taught me that, and I am 16 and Ive been in the Catholic church since I was 8 and I have taken Catechism lessons my whole life. I was also recently confirmed. So there’s that. Love you all.

Hear the Lord your God, who calls to you from an unknowable time, and calls you to that same unknowable, eternity.... Can you count the number of stars in your heaven? +John Morton Only Catholics are Christian. St. Athanasius (360 AD): “let us note that the very tradition, teaching, and faith of the Catholic Church from the beginning, which the Lord gave, was preached by the Apostles, and was preserved by the Fathers. On this was the Church founded; and if anyone departs from this, he neither is nor any longer ought to be called a Christian …. “Four Letters to Serapion of Thmius 1, 28. Origen (c. 230 AD) “The teaching of the Church has indeed been handed down through an order of succession from the Apostles, and remains in the Churches even to the present time. That alone is to be believed as the truth which is in no way at variance with ecclesiastical and apostolic tradition.” Fundamental Doctrines 1, preface, 2.

This is sad.... sending people straight to hell. There is no mention of the gospel - salvation is found ONE way, and this video is teaching another gospel. Anyone reading this and concerned about their salvation and wants to get born again this is how: Believe in the gospel! What’s the gospel? That while we are all sinners, God sent His only Son down in the form of human flesh in Jesus Christ and willingly died in your place on the cross, that He was buried and rose 3 days later in victory. The Bible says we are saved by faith, not of works so no man can boast! Run from this false religion and into a personal walk with Christ based on faith! Allowing the spirit of God unto your life leading you - but it’s all centered around faith alone, in the gospel alone! Read 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 for salvation

James - 2 Faith and Works 14What use is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone says he has faith, but he has no works? Can [j]that faith save him? 15If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, 16and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, [k]be warmed and be filled,” yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? 17In the same way, faith also, if it has no works, is [l]dead, being by itself. 18But someone [m]may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” 19You believe that [n]God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. 20But are you willing to acknowledge, you foolish person, that faith without works is useless? 21Was our father Abraham not justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? 22You see that faith was working with his works, and [o]as a result of the works, faith was [p]perfected; 23and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “AND ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS,” and he was called a friend of God. 24You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25In the same way, was Rahab the prostitute not justified by works also when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin. Our faith makes us conscious of our sin, which results in good works. But it has nothing to do with your salvation. Faith alone will get you salvation… The thief on the cross is a good example. Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. He could not have been a full propitiation for the sin of the world if he was not ALL God. There's too much evidence in scriptures how Jesus was said to BE God. We must believe the resurrection, put our full trust in him with our whole heart mind and soul because the lamb was slain and by his blood we will be saved. Unless a man be born again, he will not see the Kingdom of Heaven. We must repent and turn from our sins diligently. We cannot earn it , if we were able to earn it then Jesus Christ never had to come down as a full sacrifice. If anyone preaches another gospel, let him be accursed.

"I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose." - Galatians 2:20-21 "For by works of the law no human being will be justified in His sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the the glory of God, and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, Whom God put forward as a propitiation by His blood, to be received by faith. It was to show His righteousness at the present time, so that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Then what comes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of the law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law." - Romans 3:20-28 "And you who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. The issue with believing that you have to work for your salvation--or the fact that you had anything to do with your salvation in general--is that it discredits Christ's work on the cross. When he died, he said "It is finished." In Romans 3:10, Paul quotes the Psalmist who stated that "No man is good, no not one." In Isaiah 64:6, it states that our good works are "as filthy rags." We must recognize we are totally depraved and cannot work for our salvation. So how are we to reconcile with God? Well God chooses us. In John 6:44, Jesus says "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him." In Ephesians 1:4, Paul states that God chose us "before the foundation of the world." So we literally did nothing and can do nothing to earn salvation. Man has no ability or desire to earn salvation without God first placing it in us. Faith and works is a result of salvation, not a means to salvation. They're simply byproducts, or fruits of the spirit. Evidence for our salvation. If you want verses for this proof here are several examples: 1 John 2:39, 2 Peter 1:1, Ephesians 2:10, Titus 2:14. We must constantly deny self, if we believe that Christ Jesus saved us, then we are to show that thankfulness for His sacrifice through faith, and through works. Soli Deo Gloria

The purely passive act alone does not save but the faith in it. It and not a prayer is the method prescribed by scripture to be saved (Acts 2:38). I'm not even even Catholic by the way.

you are confusing the GIFT of Salvation (Eph 2:8-10) that was purchased with Jesus' blood, and our behavior AFTER we are Saved. Salvation itself is simply accepting this GIFT by Faith (Romans 10:9-10). the Thief on the cross did NOT get water baptized, do good deeds, confess every sin, drink Jesus' blood, eat Jesus' flesh, pay indulgences, chant the rosary, nor ask Mary to intercede.... all the Thief did is what we ALL must do to be Saved: BELIEVE and CONFESS that "Jesus IS The Lord/Christ" (Luke 23:42-43, Romans 10:9-10) -- and Jesus said that the Thief would be in Heaven that very day (no purgatory).

That is rather a simplistic view of the salvation of the good thief. You forget that the Bible did not record every single word that Jesus spoke, or every single deed He did, or even every miracle He performed. We can reasonably imagine that a longer conversation took place between Jesus and the thief.... but we know only a few of those words. Obviously the thief was in no position to do anything else ... it was too late for him to get baptised, start living a just, upright life, to give witness of the mercy of God! However, Jesus showed His immense mercy to this thief who truly repented - at the last possible moment of his life. By *no means* is He telling all of us "only" to believe, in order to be saved. IF THAT WERE TRUE, the WHOLE BIBLE COULD BE REDUCED TO ONE VERSE ONLY !!!!!! THe rest would be irrelevant!! There are DOZENS of other scriptures which tell us how we should be, what we should do, what is important.... have you not read and understood these? Here are 3! "Strive to enter in by the narrow door: for many, I say unto you, shall seek to enter in, and shall not be able".-Luke 13:24. Matthew 25:41 to Matthew 25:45 - when Jesus talks about the sheeps and the goats, and the "conditions" for entering Heaven. This is a beautiful, but critically important passage, to be read and meditated often! James 2:14-26 (Faith without works is dead.) Friend, when you read.... read the WHOLE passage, and read even the passages before and after the scriptures, otherwise you risking having a false understanding of what salvation means. Peace!

Jong Ricafort how are we saved? Is it by Faith or is it by works? James indeed said show me your faith without works, and I’ll show you my faith by my works, -works here, is to be substituted to fruit, it’s to be taken in this view, “ Proper faith produces proper works”. If you claim that your are saved, but you have no fruit to evidence that you are saved, then your faith is lifeless. Only proper faith will produce proper works. The Word of God is clear on how one is saved. “It’s by Grace through Faith, not of works.” -Ephesians 2:8-9”. salvation is by faith, it cannot be by works. Why is that? Because, what Jesus did on Calvary’s Cross was the only perfect Work needed. His Work, and not ours. ‘ it doesn’t matter how much good work we can do in this lifetime, it won’t earn us any single thing from God, The only Work God can accept is The Work His Son accomplished on the Cross. Is your faith in whom it should be, and what He has done? You see, the only way to be saved is for the sinner to repent, and to believe in Jesus Christ and that He died for them, and if they whole-heartedly believe in Christ, then they are saved. If we, as human beings try to go about basing our salvation upon works, then we are in entity against God, and that’s not a place anyone wants to be. I pray that the Lord uses this words to show you that which you don’t know. - I’ll end with this: The only way to God is through Jesus Christ, and the only way to Jesus Christ is through the Cross, and the only way to the Cross, is through a denial of self. “You don’t have to do good works to earn God’s salvation, it’s a gift from Him, and once you place your faith in Jesus and what He has done for you on Calvary’s Cross, then you will see yourself doing good works, not because it earns you anything, because it’s who you are, a new creation in Christ Jesus”. May God’s blessing be upon this Christmas and May His Mercies be with you, Amen

Ellie Stretch I do believe that most Catholics love Jesus and are saved because of belief in what He did for us on the cross rising again on the third day. The problem with denominations claiming to be the ONLY true church is that it really isn’t true. Christ’s church is made up of believers who follow His gospel. They belong to many denominations---Methodist, Lutheran, Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist, etc. The problem is, man has changed the gospel over time, and when that happens, followers are deceived thinking that just because it was there the longest, it somehow has to be true. The Bible is the only inspired Word of God, and we are admonished to stick to it- not to add and not to take away. If Catholics ignore the wrong teachings and hang on to the true gospel, they are in communion with other Christians across the globe and with Christ’s Church that He established, no problem.

Wow, that is really a stretch. “You MUST venerate the saints & ask for their prayers”...again, you have taken Scripture out of context. We are NEVER to pray to dead people! The Revelation passage you quoted was the saints in heaven speaking to Jesus in heaven. Nothing about people praying to the dead. 1Tim 2:1 is speaking about praying for all men...not dead people, again. 1Tim 3:15, THE CHURCH RESTS ON THE TRUTH AS IT IS IN CHRIST. That is the Apostles doctrine, or the Doctrine of Christ. Acts 2:37-42, Acts 16:30-34!! Not just verse 31, and Acts 22:16 show the Correct way: HEAR (the gospel) BELIEVE it CONFESS Christ (not sins) REPENT be BAPTIZED (into Him) The ABIDE (remain in Christ) till that day. @@nathangilbert5297 …thank you…I will try to address this more explicitly. George Penton had said that, “belief in Christ means belief in everything Christ taught, including that good works are necessary for salvation.” And he used Matthew 25:31-46 as his reference. Christ never taught that works were necessary for salvation…especially in this Matthew passage. All throughout the Old Testament, a blood sacrifice was done for the remission of sins. Hebrews 9:22, “without the shedding of blood there can be no forgiveness of sins.” This is a direct quote taken from Leviticus 17:11. This has been true since the book of Leviticus was written around 4000BC. So it is Jesus shed blood now that as an unblemished sacrifice, offers us forgiveness and salvation. When Jesus said “it is finished”, in John 19:30, He meant that nothing could be added to His sacrifice. No works, nothing. It was finished & complete. In the Old Testament, there were many different types of sacrifices…peace offerings, fellowship offerings, etc. But those never atoned for sin. Only a blood sacrifice was necessary for that. And yes, you are correct, & I agree, that works of charity are the direct result of what Christ has done in one’s life. In fact, that’s what James meant in chapter 2:-14-17…”if someone says he has faith but does not have works…can THAT faith save him?” If one professes faith in Christ, yet has no fruit to show for it, is THAT person saved? If one is truly saved, he won’t be able to NOT help those in need. BUT…those works of charity DO NOT SAVE. They are not necessary for salvation. How many works of charity would be required for salvation? No…that has never been the case. There is salvation only in the belief that Christ shed His blood for the forgiveness of my sins. He exchanged His royal robes for my filthy rags and went to the cross and died in my place. There is salvation in no other name…not mine plus Jesus, only Jesus. He is enough.

Min 4:05 “baptism, confession and obedience are necessary for salvation”. The following questions are begging to be asked: what about those who died prior to baptism, and why would an external act like baptism save someone when the entire gospel is about our fallen spiritual condition? Confession of sin to who? Confession to God makes sense since it’s God who has the power to save. Exactly how much obedience is required to save someone? You see the problem? Baptism and perfect obedience were achieved by the only perfect man who died in our place. His name is Jesus and it is by faith in Jesus alone that fallen man can be saved. That is the beauty of the gospel of God’s grace.

Let me correct those who need to find the truth: Salvation cannot be earned, because we are fallen creatures who sinned. If we could work for salvation, Jesus dying on the cross would have been all for nothing--that is why he came because WE COULD NOT BE GOOD ENOUGH ON OUR OWN. PERIOD. Salvation is ONLY earned through true faith and trust in Jesus and what he did for you on Calvary. Baptism, and good works are only "visible" appearances of one claiming to repent of their sins, but it DOES NOT actually cleanse you. You cannot put faith in more than one thing--either you believe in the truth or you reject it. Therefore, you either place your ENTIRE (not some) faith in Jesus Christ alone for saving you, or you don't. If you do (b/c God knows your heart) you are saved, but if you place your faith in something else (The bible, Good Works, Baptism, Church attendance, Money, Other worldly possessions) you WILL go to hell when you die. Pray to God to reveal the truth to come into you so you won't fall into traps like these. For those who follow this, or don't believe in God and are reading this now do not have an excuse. I also pray that this speaker in this video repents and truly gets saved if we believes in this, because this is a false, and deceitful doctrine that is NOT biblical.

Next question is what sins do you have to confess? DO WE CONTRIBUTE ANYTHING TO OUR OWN SALVATION? There are two ways to look at this question-from a practical point of view and a biblical point of view. First, from practical point of view, let’s assume that a person does contribute something to his salvation. If that were possible, who would get the credit in heaven? If man somehow contributes to his own salvation, it would follow that man himself gets the credit. And if man gets the credit, this certainly will detract from God’s getting the credit. If it were possible to contribute something to attain heaven, then each person upon his arrival would be patting himself on the back because of what he did in order to obtain heavenly citizenship. These same people would be singing, "Praise myself, I contributed to my own salvation." It is unthinkable that people in heaven will be worshiping self rather than God. God said, “I will not give my glory to another” (Isaiah 42:8; 42:11). From a biblical point of view, mankind contributes nothing at all to his salvation. The problem with humanity is their sinfulness. Theologians normally refer to this as "total depravity." Total depravity is the belief that mankind is sinful throughout and can do nothing of himself to earn God’s favor. Because of this sinful state, mankind wants nothing to do with God (see especially Romans 1:18-32). It is safe to say that because mankind is totally depraved, mankind chooses to sin, loves to sin, defends sin, and glories in sin. Because of man’s sinful predicament, he is in need of God’s direct intervention. This intervention has been provided by Jesus Christ, the mediator between sinful humanity and righteous God (1 Timothy 2:5). As already stated, mankind wants nothing to do with God, but God wants everything to do with man. This is why He sent his son Jesus Christ to die for the sins of humanity-God’s perfect substitution (1 Timothy 2:6). Because Jesus died, through faith mankind can be declared justified, declared righteous (Romans 5:1). By faith, the person is redeemed, bought out of the slave market of sin, and set free from it (1 Peter 1:18-19). These acts just mentioned-substitution, justification, redemption-are just a few that are provided for completely by God, and devoid completely of anything human. The Bible is clear that mankind cannot contribute anything to his salvation. Any time someone thinks he can contribute, he is in essence working for his salvation, which is clearly against the Bible’s statements (see Ephesians 2:8-9). Even faith itself is a gift from God. Salvation is a free gift from God (Romans 6:23), and since it is a gift, there is nothing you can do to earn it. All you have to do is take the gift. "But to all who have received him (i.e., Jesus)-those who believe in his name-he has given the right to become God’s children" (John 1:12). 🙏❤️

For anyone else who listens to this video. The Doctrine of Salvation (a general term) can be broken down into it's specifics (regeneration, conversion - which involves faith and repentance, justification, sanctification and glorification).

The wonder of the internet. I found this thread four months after its original posting. Jesus speaks of baptism in a number of ways. Baptism in sacramental form is a real participation in His Passion. Remember when James and John's mother tried to get Jesus to commit that they would sit at Jesus's right hand and his left in His kingdom and Jesus asked John, "Can you be baptized with the baptism with which I will be baptized?" referring to His own crucifixion. What is the thief on the cross doing but participating in the same Passion, or crucifixion as Jesus; that is, being "BAPTIZED" with the same BAPTISM with which Jesus Christ is "BAPTIZED". The thief on the cross IS "buried with Him in baptism" and by Jesus Christ very promised, "raised to walk in newness of life" with Him in Paradise.

That's not what Jesus said, "He said to them, 'Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. Whoever BELIEVES AND IS BAPTIZED WILL BE SAVED; whoever does not believe will be condemned.'" cf. Mark 16: 15-16 No matter how many capital letters, question marks and exclamation point you use, you cannot change Jesus's plain teaching, "Jesus answered, 'Amen, amen, I say to you, NO ONE CAN ENTER the kingdom of God WITHOUT BEING BORN OF WATER AND SPIRIT.'" cf. John 3: 5 Moreover, both Sts. Peter and Paul agree: "...Put to death in the flesh, he was brought to life in the spirit. In it he also went to preach to the spirits in prison, who had once been disobedient while God patiently waited in the days of Noah during the building of the ark, in which a few persons, eight in all, WERE SAVED THROUGH WATER. THIS PREFIGURED BAPTISM, WHICH SAVES YOU NOW. It is not a removal of dirt from the body but an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,..." cf. I Peter 3: 18b-21 "...because of his mercy, HE SAVED US THROUGH THE BATH OF REBIRTH AND RENEWAL BY THE HOLY SPIRIT, whom he richly poured out on us through Jesus Christ our savior so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life." cf. Titus 3: 5b-7 "For INTO ONE SPIRIT WE WERE ALL BAPTIZED INTO ONE BODY, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and WE WERE ALL GIVEN TO DRINK OF ONE SPIRIT." cf. I Corinthians 12: 13

Patrick Montgomery @4:12 he says we have to cooperate with God's laws (in addition to confession and baptism) to be saved. What does scripture say? Ephesians 2:8-10 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Paul clearly says it's not by works but faith, eternal life is a "gift" from God so you can't earn it, and we are made to do good works thru Jesus Christ meaning do because we're saved not to be saved) Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; (He says you do good works as a part of obtaining salvation. Paul tells the church in Ephesus they were dead in their sins. How can a spiritually dead person do good works??? They can't unless they be made alive first.) Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. (These verses clearly show it's not by works of the law but by faith.) I'm here and glad to answer any other concerns you may have. God bless

Is baptism really necessary for salvation? I thought it was just a public declaration of your being born again. If it is really necessary, then what happens to the person who repents and believes in Jesus as Lord and Savior, and then on his way to get baptized he gets hit by a car and dies. Does this person then go to hell?

I think one of the questions for the RC church (going back at least 500 years) is, "Where and when was the Church of Rome given 'unconditional authority', perhaps equal to or even greater than the Bible?" Because apparently the RC church has unconditional authority to add even more conditions for salvation than what the Bible first laid out. [Not trying to be contentious, per se, but healthy debate about salvation is important.] The Bible seems to have a much simpler message of salvation and the fullness thereof: The Apostle John tells us in his Gospel account and in his letters that, "To all who received Him and believed in His Name He gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12) And, of course, that infamous passage, John 3:16, "...that whoever believes (or all of the believing ones) should not perish but have everlasting life." Other passages could be mentioned, but at the end of his Gospel John says, "Jesus did many other signs...these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." (John 20). John tells us in his first letter, "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life." (1 John 5:13) Shucks, it's almost as if John is implying that faith is sufficient for us to be reconciled to God. Now, I know, many Roman Catholics believe these things, but your church will tell you basically that believing in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God is not good enough to receive salvation, that is, eternal life. As Mr. Yasinski mentioned in the video, "...obedience to His commands, which are subsisting fully in the Catholic Church, are necessary...". So then the difference would be that it is God Who, by His Holy Spirit convicts of sin (John 16:8), grants repentance (Acts 11:17-18), grants faith (Phil 1:29), all by His grace. And, this is enough for us to be reconciled to God, forgiven of all our past, present and future sins, to be washed and cleansed so that we can go directly to God in prayer, "Our Father...", and, "Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." And, "...that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ." We have been cleansed so much so that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:19-20). Paul also tells us, "...even when we were dead in our trespasses, [God] made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved--and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus". (Eph 2:5-6) And, also, "To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." Col 1:27 If we are indeed children of God now-through or in Christ Jesus, we don't need priests because we can go directly to God as His children. [Remember, outside of Christ, God does not love us unconditionally, but gives a degree of love to natural man-that Paul describes as "children of wrath" (Eph. 2:3). Even Mr Yasinsky quoted from James, saying, "confess your sins to one another"--not to a priest, because Jesus is our only High Priest. Even Peter says that (the Christians he's writing to) are "a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation". This is how amazing God's salvation is! So then, what about obedience? When one has been convicted of sin, given a relationship with the Creator of the Universe, given some assurance of eternal life, been born again by the Spirit of God, filled with the Spirit-all because of God's love and grace towards us, then our hearts gush with praise and thanksgiving towards God and we want to do what pleases Him! Worthy is the Lamb Who was slain to receive blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever! Amen! God has taken out our heart of stone and given us a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26,27)-one that is compliant and grateful and loving and obedient towards Him.

@@Catholicspeaker Thank you for cordial response. I listen to Catholic Answers on occasion. They seem to quote Scripture as if their audience would understand the plain reading of the text. And note your own response above, referencing a Scripture passage as if it's completely understandable. What is lacking perhaps is a preface such as, "Here is the infallible and authoritative understanding of the verse from the Magisterium or the Pope that I'm about to quote: ....". So also, in the original video, Mr. Yasinski quoted several passages as if they would be understandable to his general audience. But why would he do this unless he is speaking with the authority of the Pope, or the magisterium, or both? Apparently, he was using the Scriptures as his sole authority (at least for some of his points). And why not? We have the very words of Jesus and Peter and John and James and Paul. Should not the words of Jesus Himself and His Apostles hold the greatest authority for our lives? Have you read the entire Bible? Then you know that it wasn't written for Doctors of Theology. It was written for all of God's people. This is why God would tell Joshua, "Meditate on My Word, then you will be strong and have success." Heck, it was also why God commanded Moses to read His law to the entire congregation of Israel in the wilderness--men, women and children. And again, centuries later, when Ezra read the law, it was to all the people. David wrote, "How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word." And, "I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you." Sola Scriptura doesn't mean, 'Me and my Bible under a tree somewhere'. What it means is that there are a group of writings in the history of the Christian Church that in fact are Scripture; and other writings that are not. And that body of writing that is Canonical* is Scripture, and all other writings, traditions, assertions ought to bow before the very Words of God. Now to answer your original question, "...by what authority do you live by? Scripture alone and your ability to interpret it's meaning?" Well, yes and no...not my ability--apart from various pastors and theologians who read the original Greek and Hebrew [and even the Latin]. But when they exegete/reveal the meaning of the text, they don't appeal to their own authority or a higher authority such as the leaders of their denomination, but rather the meaning of the text itself. And praise God for the abundance of Protestant teachers with which an individual can compare and contrast and "meditate" on the Scriptures. *yeah, I know, we Protestants wouldn't even have a Canon if it weren't for the RC Church. We would just encourage the Roman Church to come back to the plumb line of the Bible, as many of the church fathers first held to... Sola Scriptura rather than sola ecclesia. Scripture is the only, highest authority for all believers.

Patrick, it doesn't make sense. There is NO HISTORICAL RECORD of any other EARLY coherent Church but the Catholic. Those heresies which departed from the Catholic Church DIED (Gnosticism, Arianism, Manichaeism, etc.). Since the early centuries, all bishops, monks, nuns, and committed religious people from whom writings are preserved, taught the Catholic practices (St Ignacius of Antioch, St Justin Martir, St Jerome, St Augustine etc), they recognized the Pope as THE successor of Peter and leader of the Church, taught and practiced the Eucharist, and all the other Catholic sacraments. If Jesus BIRTHED His Church, it was meant to GROW as a created BODY grows, NOT stay UNDERGROUND. Sure enough, Jesus' promise to keep His Church ALIVE was fulfilled in EVERY generation through ALL centuries. The book of Acts is only the beginning of 2000 years of Church history. As the Catholic Church grew, it spread the teaching of the Gospel to ALL NATIONS, in accordance to the instructions of the Lord, Jesus Christ.

Ok, forgive me if I have misused (unintentionally) any of the scriptures. It wasn't Peter who decided food is not impure, it was the apostle Paul (1 Cor 8:7). Still, it was the apostles who decided ultimately (under the guidance of the Holy Spirit) if circumcision was necessary, of if the Gospel was to be shared to the gentiles. My point is this: The Church that Jesus founded IS APOSTOLIC, which means that the apostles LEAD the Church and TEACH the correct interpretation of the scriptures. The apostles are selected and confirmed by previous elder apostles, who have communicating their AUTHORITY generation after generation by imposition of hands since the times of Jesus. 1 Corinthians 12 talks about the Holy Spirit's giving different gifts, not only spiritual ones, but functions in the Church, especially the APOSTOLATE. Verse 27: "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And God has placed in the church FIRST of all APOSTLES, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? [I guess not everybody has to] Do all interpret? 31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts..." The Church IS apostolic.

Maybe you need time to read the gospel from this point of view, and learn more UNBIASED objective history. Maybe then you'll agree that the Church has always had apostles to lead and teach the Church according to Jesus' plan.

It lines up with all the major religions which proclaim that man has to do his part for his salvation. The protestants rightly pointed out the hypocrisy of " indulgences ' and many erroneous teachings but did not go far enough and it too has major issues ( calvernism as we call it today). Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. No baptism. Sorry but not sorry. All one needs for salvation is the atoning blood of Jesus. The video misrepresents the verse in Mark. He only quotes the first half. The full verse says: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:16 KJV. If baptism was required for salvation, the verse would say: He that believeth not and is not baptized is damned. Salvation is realizing that we can do nothing to earn God's favor. But God loved us enough to sacrifice his son on our behalf. When Jesus died, he said "it is finished" or "paid in full". All you have to do is accept that by faith and you are guaranteed eternal life and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Isn't this the definition of *grace* and not *salvation* or were you ad libing here? Salvation means to be saved. Saved to the kingdom of God. Michael Verde Tetelastai was a Greek word stamped on a bill when the entire debt was paid in full. Meaning no more had to be paid. That is the Greek word used by Jesus when he died. He was declaring that the entire sin debt for mankind was paid in full. 2. No. Salvation is a multi step process. You must 1) realize you can do nothing to earn his salvation. 2) realize that he did everything necessary for you to have salvation. 3) accept his death on the cross as full payment for your sins. You don't have to pray a certain prayer, but this is an example. God, I know I am a sinner and that apart from you I am destined for hell. I ask you to forgive me of my sins and cleanse my heart. Please come into my heart and be my Lord and savior. Amen.

Abe Mundt Abe Mundt Hi. Thanks for the response. Yep, I've heard this explanation before. Tetelestai is actually used 26 times throughout the scriptures and only 2-3 instances suggest a context that is connected to a payment. The remaining ones are in a context that is fulfilled statement. Actually, Tetelestai is used in both John 19:28 and 19:30. To suggest 19:28 also means 'Paid in Full' is confusing because it's referring to fulfilling scriptures. Therefore, the short of this when you review scripture in Greek it's important to understand the context, since a single Greek word with it's tense can transliterate to several words in English (in this case Tetelestai uses the perfect present tense). Jesus spoke Aramaic, so a word mashelem 'finished' and the greek tetelestai 'finished'' is different. Actually, given the tense for tetelestai it's suggesting 'and will continue to be finished'. So, context is everything in scripture. If we were talking about the 'it' being our redemption with Jesus' death. It's not finished, because he a) is not dead yet, b) has not decended into hell, and c) has not been resurrected. The context is aligned with taking the 'sour' drink. This is significant because He's saying 'it' is finished. "It" is the Passover sacrifice that began in the upper room, new covenant which has just been concluded. Secondly, 'it' is also the fulfillment to the OT scriptures with Christ's as the lamb sacrificed. God bless!

Michael Verde true. Jesus was fulfilling all prophecies as the Passover Lamb. What what was the purpose of the Passover Lamb known as Messiah? His purpose was to live the perfect sinless life, and pay the same God for all mankind. All we have to do is accept by faith his death on the cross and Resurrection from the grave, as full payment for our sin. Once we do that, we are immediately justified in the eyes of God, and if we were to die that very moment, we would enter Heaven for eternity.

You misinterepret the meaning of James 5:16. confessing to one another is referring to the verses above, specifically James 5:12 "let your yes be yes and no be no" meaning being truthful to one another. You also misintrpret John 20:23. Properly read, that verse mean if you forgive the sin of others, YOU forgive it in yourself. Likewise if you retain it, YOU (not God) retain it yourself. See the difference. The previous verse states to receive the Holy Spirit. So if you receive the Holy Spirit and He dwells in you, you are to forgive as Jesus command. The last point on Baptism you reference is also wrong. Jesus said John (the Baptist) baptize with water, but He (Jesus) baptize with the Holy Spirit. So when Jesus was saying being saved by baptism He was speaking of the Holy Spirit, meaning once we are saved we are washed in the Holy Spirit not physical water!

He is the saviour of his body. (NOTE** - Christ is the Saviour of His Body only, not those who reject Him by rejecting His Body the Church Luke 10:16.) Ephesians 5:24-25 [24] Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so also let the wives be to their husbands in all things. [25] Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the church, and delivered himself up for it: (NOTES** - [24] Church is subject to Christ: The church then, according to St. Paul, is ever obedient to Christ, and can never fall from him, but remain faithful to him, unspotted and unchanged to the end of the world. [25] Christ delivered Himself up for His Church, not those who claim to believe in Christ or claim to follow Christ. Christ is all about His Church.) Ephesians 5:26-27 [26] That he might sanctify it, cleansing it by the laver of water in the word of life: [27] That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy, and without blemish. (NOTE** - The Church is without blemish because its teachings are infallible. Any members who commit serious sin are separated from the Church as they are from God, and so the Church can never be blamed for the sins of those who were once a part of the Body of Christ. The Church is only responsible for what it teaches.) Ephesians 5:29 For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, as also Christ doth the church: Ephesians 5:31-33 [31] For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh. [32] This is a great sacrament; but I speak in Christ and in the church. [33] Nevertheless let every one of you in particular love his wife as himself: and let the wife fear her husband. (NOTE** - [31] Christ the Bridegroom and the Church are two in One flesh, [33] so Christ loves His Church as Himself, and the Church (Bride of Christ) fears Christ as the wife fears her husband.) 1 Timothy 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. (NOTE** - [15] The pillar and ground of the truth: Therefore, the church of the living God can never uphold error, nor bring in corruptions, superstition, or idolatry.) James 5:14-15 [14] Is any man sick among you? Let him bring in the priests of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. [15] And the prayer of faith shall save the sick man: and the Lord shall raise him up: and if he be in sins, they shall be forgiven him. (NOTE** - [14] Let him bring in: See here a plain warrant of scripture for the sacrament of extreme unction, that any controversy against its institution would be against the express words of the sacred text in the plainest terms.) The good thief lived his life and died under the Old Covenant. The Sacraments, like baptism and the Eucharist, are part of the New Covenant, which were not fully in place until Jesus died. (Heb. 9:15-18, Acts 19:1-6). Secondly, the Church teaches that we are bound to God’s sacraments, but God is not. The Church baptizes because that is how God revealed that New Covenant believers enter into salvation (Mark 16:16; John 3:5; Acts 2:38, 22:16; 1 Pet. 3:21)-but it doesn't mean God cannot save without baptism.

But what of circumstances when someone isn't able to be baptized, such as a deathbed conversion like the man on the other cross whom Jesus tells will reside with Him in paradise? Would the baptism then be necessary in the sense that you cannot be saved without it?

The Catholic Church teaches that "baptism of desire" kicks in in a case like that. If the person wanted to be baptized, but died before the actual Baptism, he could be saved anyway. There is also something called implicit baptism of desire, in which a petson who lived at a time or place where the Gospel had never been preached, who had never heard of Christ, but loved God and had repented of all his sins, could be saved also. Unbaptized babies who die as babies cannot make a baptism of desire, explicit or implicit. This is why they go to Limbo when they die. Limbo is a place of natural (but not supernatural) happiness. There is no sin or suffering there and all there are very happy. But they will never see God face to face, the chief joy of Heaven, because they lack grace.

You are saved, but it isn't by the work of baptism, friend. 1 Peter 3:20 explains what baptism is/does: "This water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also- not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God." This may seem like it contradicts Ephesians 2:8-9, which says we are saved by grace through faith, apart from works (i.e. baptism), but Peter is explaining that there is nothing supernatural/sanctifying about the baptismal water. When we are baptized, we do it as a pledge of clear conscience toward God, meaning it is an outward pledge of the inward change that God has done in us. You can rest easy knowing that you are saved by Jesus's death and resurrection on the cross, and you receive this grace/justification through FAITH! Ephesians 3:24 - "All are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood - to be received by faith." If we had to work for this redemptive grace through baptism, then it wouldn't be grace (Romans 11:6) If you think you should be baptized again, pray to God and ask for discernment, but know that this baptism is not what gives you your salvation- your faith does. Peace be with you, friend!

He's like the rest of us and needs to lose his life so that it will be saved. INSTRUCTIONS: How to be born again/saved. (#1) Don't accept Jesus in your heart. Don't give your life to Him. Don't accept Him as your Lord and Savior. Don't respond to alter calls, don't say the sinners prayer. (#2) There is nothing good you can offer God. You can't bribe God. The standard is perfection. You've sinned, but Christ hasn't. If you think you're good, then you can't continue to step #3. (#3) BELIEVE The Gospel: God sent His Son Jesus to us as a man, born of a virgen by God's Holy Spirit, who never sinned. He lived perfectly and loved others perfectly. He was beaten and died on a cross for our sins (evil acts). He was raised to life 3 days later and if we believe in Him, He will make us perfect in the eyes of God. His righteousness (perfection) becomes ours and we are saved from Hell by His grace through faith. We can't work for it by making ourselves good. Only believing the gospel can save you from God's wrath (anger) against sin. If this gospel is not good news to you, then you are a self-righteous person, still in your sins and stuck at step #2.

Brothers and sisters in Christ let me ask you this, are you still living and loving the things of the world? If YES then you must be terrified. Now how about these, do you always have the desire to be like Jesus Christ? Do you have the conviction of the Holy Spirit everyday in your lives? Do you hate your own sin? Do you feel any remorse whenever you sin? If none of these things you are experiencing in your life today then you must be very afraid. Because it is an evidence that you did not yet truly born again in Spirit even you have already baptized and made a confession of your sins. Remember what Jesus said to a jewish priest named Nicodemus? John 3 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. DO NOT BE DECIEVED.. MAY GOD BLESS YOUR MIND AND YOUR HEART WITH THE TRUTH! ALL GLORY TO GOD! AMEN

Mark 16 16 "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." KJV So it is "not believing" what gets you damned, but you left it out of the verse... The thief at the cross wasn't baptized and got saved also.
