Lol. It was rather humorous. I have a romance novel coming out soon but it's not a typical romance at all. I tested it on a scientific male friend who's into SciFi. He was pained at the thought of having to read it. He said he hated romance novels. He told me it would take him 10 months to read it at the rate of 5 pages a day. Which is about all he felt he could handle. He ended up reading the entire book in a day and a half and told me it was a masterpiece. He said every time he put it down he felt the need to pick it back up again to see what happens next:-)

I am an old sailor. Back in the day our main entertainment was books. On a long voyage I would go through the most interesting books then the less interesting and so forth. And one time I reached the point when Danielle Steele was the only "author" left that I had not read. Oh my oh my, it was so incredibly mind numbingly stupid that I only read that one. The lot got "deep sixed" to make sure nobody should read them by accident.

@@katella You know the feeling then 😂 In many ports there are "take one, leave one" libraries meaning we have some assortment to choose from. But sometimes we would simply swap big bags of books with other ships in port, content unknown. And that is where some of the worst crap I have read out of boredom/desperation came from.

@@katella And it is indeed very sad yes. After posting my first comment here, I Googled Danielle Steel. She is the best selling "author" still alive, and the fourth best selling of all times. Mind blowing.

A couple of other points I've read on line: 1) there seems to be no on-line evidence that she was ever bullied or was mean to Meachen. 2) Her "daughter" held a gofundme raising tens of thousands of dollars to pay for funeral expenses and to help her family. This is why people have accused her of fraud, having raised money under false pretenses 3) various people on-line have accused Meachen of not having paid them for services rendered for editing/cover artwork, before her untimely death. Your analysis was definitely interesting and informative.

I'd never even heard of her until now, but I must admit your exposé of her made me curious, so I looked her up. >>> "Stolen Moments." I only read a few pages but this isn't romance it's smut. Here's what's missing >>> Firstly, this is a line from her book. >>>"Flipping through my closet never gets old to me." do I need to say more? Next, let's talk about the heroine. Most readers want one they can emotionally identify with on some level. If you can't make your readers care about the lead character the novel is already dead in the water. To me a good romance novel should have a scintillating but slow build up. It's the longing that makes the reader want more, like tingling chills and butterflies, not how many lovers and how graphic it can be depicted. I had to stop reading after I physically started to feel ill. If a romance novel only bores me and makes me feel sick it's not worth the paper it's written on. In fairness to Susan, I didn't read very much of it, but three or four pages was all I could take. I prefer sensual not obscene.

Toxic online communities function like abusive relationships in some ways. People keep going back to those communities even though they know it's bad for them and their mental health. Sometimes it's a form of self-harm to subject yourself to that toxicity (i.e. you think you deserve to be treated badly, so you seek out people you know will treat you badly), other times it's part of a routine that's difficult to break. It's difficult to explain, but there are more layers than simply attention-seeking.

Could you please discuss Angrophobia (the fear of getting mad) in an episode? This is very difficult to deal with, the somatic feeling that anger of any degree is dangerous and can potentially destroy your life. You shut your anger down immediately and fawn or freeze so as not to trigger a confrontation and then later feel disgust, depression, and resentment that you then turn back in to that suppression cycle. The scary thing is that you know the anger will come out eventually and when it does, you won't be able to control it and it most likely will destroy everything. How do you get past the feeling that you're not allowed to feel or express anger?

Thanks Doc for making me burst out into laughter! I needed that. I absolutely love when you put bloopers at the end of your videos too. Especially when the blooper is just you getting cracked up with the content you're dealing with. Quoting Kamala Harris comes to mind. Our politicians are cartoonishly inept. Sometimes we need to laugh to keep from crying.

Dr. Grande is going to have his own Netflix show soon!! Ha ha!! Hell yeah Dr. Grande, you are a natural bad ass, an American Poet, a natural and National Treasure IMO. Thank you for your insights and humor, you're the next Dr. Phil or Oprah IMO, can't wait to see you with a live audience, heh.

Please, Dr Grande, read us an excerpt of "Irene Iddlesleigh" and could you also analyse the author Amanda McKittrick-Ros and her relationship with other Authors (like Tolkien)? I really would like your take on this... *surreptitiously paving the way to this rabbit hole*

A lot of collaboration and complicity from family must reinforce this woman’s bad behaviour. They are ratifying it for her and joining in😮

Wow first comment! Interesting that it sounds like only other romance writers would buy each others books. In any event, dropping out of school and marrying at 14 is in a league I admittedly know nothing about. God bless her heart
