I have been daydreaming of moving somewhere else (Paris, for instance), projecting my happy self there, but I realized it is pure escapism. I have chosen to stay and learn to be happy where I am now, which is such a wonderful place in so many ways. Deep inside I know the solution is not to move but make peace with myself here.

Same! I've been seeing a lot of videos by Americans living in Paris talking about the rampant xenophobia towards Americans and the general rudeness of parisians and it has given me a reality check. Now I just want to become fluent in French to watch the movies I enjoy, listen to the music I enjoy, and be able to get into fluent arguments with parisians if I were to ever visit.

Love it... I have been sober for over 30 years and I am SO GRATEFUL and could care less what others think... my life is for me :) and really I prefer sober people to hang with :) I love to our my energy into creating, same with dating- my energy is precious to me :)

Until now I was having a bad day myself but after watching your video I truly feel lighter. I loved the way you intuitively accepted the fact that it was a bad day. Not forcing it to be something it is not. Not pushing away a feeling that wants to be felt. You just let the day be a day. Accepted its natural flow. And at the same time you still reminded yourself of how to deal with it and to not forget the bigger picture.

Thank you so much for this video. I have had a rough two weeks dealing with my husband being sick. I was so frustrated feeling helpless trying to get him the needed Dr. appointments that I just felt like smashing some plates “Deal with the hurt of being a human” I need to remember when things are difficult to offer it up to God. I love that you incorporate dance and play to try to switch your mood around. “Dance like you’re happy to be alive” is something I always remember. I bought some tap dancing shoes to make cleaning and cooking more fun. Must put them on before I start my to do list. Thank you Shayna for being a beacon in the world!

Just want to applaud you for looking at the pros & cons of drinking. On 6/6/22, I quit cold turkey once I realized the negative impact alcohol was having on my physical & mental well-being. Self care became more important to me than what my peers might think. Bonus: I was pleasantly surprised to see the “pebble effect” it had on several of my friends who also decided to become “alcohol free”. I’ve recently been told by bartenders that “alcohol zero” is a new social trend, and they are happy to serve “alcohol zero” drinks when given free rein to come up with one of a kind drinks that draw oohs and aahs from admiring onlookers. Remember, too, that your true friends will have your best interest at heart & will support your efforts to make physical & mental health a priority over your past social habits. You go, girl! 👏👏👏

Stopped drinking 5 years ago. I was never a drinker but occasionally I would have a couple of beers. People do react to it as if you do something wrong. And push you like "oh come on just one beer". To me this feels like a smoker tells you "oh come on just one cigarette l" but then that's a problem right? Listen to your body and don't apologise Shayna! Most people drink to have a good time cause they can't otherwise.

I relate to several things here. I also go through periods of sober months. I don’t drink a lot anyway, about once a week, but I come from a family of addicts, so I’ve always been very aware of how alcohol effects people. So I try to control myself with it as much as possible, literally telling myself I can drink once a week max, and only two drinks. I also do sober months here and there just to challenge myself. As for anxiety, going on walks really helps me sometimes. I’m sure you already do that a lot living in Paris. But fresh air always helps me when I start drowning in my anxiety. Thanks for bringing us along on a bad day. Social media is so full of highlight reels that it’s nice to see a not so stellar day sometimes. Hope you’re feeling better.

I decided not to drink this year and it feels great. I just replace alcohol with kombuchas and juice mixes. It feels great to be aware of the surroundings and feel everything deeply when I am sober. The one thing I miss is margaritas 😂but I am planning on making alcohol-free ones

I really like your Pierrot clown painting, it's very dreamy, almost as if floating or melting away in water at midnight, very surreal. It should be the cover of your next journal. I would buy it. Housework can be a real drag unless one is energized, feeling motivated, or in the mood. In saying that, I keep my place clean because as you said, it uplifts the spirit. One can't be happy or artistic unless our environment inspires us. I love the metallic two-toned dress you wore during your cleaning spree:-) As far as rejection goes it stings, but look what happened later in the day. As one door closed another door opened:-) Taxes are worse than housework, I feel for you on that....but it too shall pass....🧚✨💫

I always thought it was weird of me that washing other people’s dishes was really fun and interesting, while doing my own was a dreaded chore to put off as long as possible. If I had the right friend, I’d love to say we’d swap places for a cleaning session (with guidelines if desired, of course) If I was in your area Shayna, I’d be happy to wash your dishes, straighten books, etc... and then the fresh joy of returning to a magically cleaned space! I dream this will happen to me someday, but so far, no luck... I’m with you- find a creative way to just deal with my messes!
