Because there are no Portuguese soap series on Romanian TV. Portuguese is less commonly spoken compared to Spanish and Romanians 🇷🇴 regard it as language less beautiful than Italian and Spanish. Many Romanians prefer to immigrate to Spain or Italy. But those who immigrate to Madeira, Brazil or Portugal will find learning Portuguese a much easier task than learning German, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Finish and definitely way easier than learning Slavic languages, Turkish or Hungarian

Romanian is a gramatically very hard language. To speak romanian is easy. To speak it the corect way is very hard. Genders, times (8 verb times) etc etc. Also the numbers are in some cases masculine and in some cases feminin. In some cases the same subject when counting can take both feminin and masculine shapes. Eg. One egg ( un ou, masculine) 2 eggs (doua oua, feminine) so the egg, is in masculine when there is only one, but switches to feminine when 2 or more. And plenty of other instances of speaking the right way this language

As a Portuguese speaking person from Portugal, I was quite shocked and disappointed that the Romanians have not yet chosen to speak in Portuguese. As a member of the Latin family, yes you got it “ A língua Portuguesa está dentro da família com os Romenos!” “ Îl limba Portugheza stau dintr o familia cu România.” ( Sorry Romanians, I am still learning your language if I said it wrong and if you read my sentence in Portuguese, then you definitely understand us! Portuguese from Portugal 🇵🇹 and Romanians share a lot of expressions, pronunciations, and words together. There are words in Portuguese and Romanians that nor Spanish, French, or Italians have! Look 👀: Romanian vs. Portuguese: To say “ I am” Romanian: Eu sunt Portuguese: Eu sou Portuguese: Eu falo Romanian: Eu vorbesc Portuguese: Meu grande dor 🤕 ( My great pain). Romanian: Grande dor meu. PORTUGUESE: Está doer Muito. Romanian: Stau doare mult. PORTUGUESE: sogra Romanian: soacra Portuguese: Onde tu fostes? Romanian: Unde ai foste? Portuguese: fazes Tu ! Romanian: Făcea Tu! Portuguese: Tu vez Romanian: Tu vezi Portuguese: Eu quero Romanian: Eu vreau Portuguese: Ajuda Romanian: Ajutor Portuguese: A casa verde em o mar 🌊 Romanian: O casa verde in îl mare. Portuguese: Arranjar Romanian: Aranjat Portuguese: Eu estou com fome 😋. Romanian: Eu stau cu foame. Romanian: Foarte bine ! Portuguese: Forte 💪 bem ( But we say along with the other Latin family : Muito bem 👍) Does any Romanian want a Portuguese language challenge? 😂😂😂😂😂

We all have a bit to a lot in common with each and everything in our languages. I try to listen and watch Romanian tv 📺, I might not understand all to some what they are saying, but I do get it lol 😂! It sounds like Portuguese 😂😂♥️! Believe it our not, I can read well in Romanian too so that helps lol 😂! I was helping this Romanian lady to say “ My son” in Portuguese, which is “ Meu filho.” The word “ Figlio and Filho” is the same pronunciation and meaning in both Italian and Portuguese. In Romanian is “fiu,” which almost like our pronunciation. So she said, but we say “ fiu meu.” I was laughing and I said, “Yeah that’s right, you spoke in Portuguese!” 😂😂😂😂♥️ Trust me not a Spanish person can not understand us! Portuguese and Spanish are twin languages but it is not the same! Actually, Portuguese is the smarter one because people assume that since it is next to Spain, it is Spanish and it is quite the contrary! Trust me PORTUGUESE give so much power to the other Romance languages , we can even communicate with the other Latin languages. Do me a favor, when I was listening to the word “câștiga “ in Romanian, I didn’t know it was a false friend in Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian! It was so funny when I asked a Romanian about it! Do me a favor and go on Google translator and find the meaning of this sentence in Portuguese and English. It will be so funny to you! “Foarte distractiv!” “ forte 💪 destruída “ hahaha Which means you are distracted while you are having fun 🤩! Hahaha 😝 “ E muito engraçado 🤣!” Look up in Portuguese: “ Ele castiga a ela !” 😂😂😂😂

The thing is we don't really get to speak the languages and if we are put in a flash situation like this one we'll likely come up with one of the simpler, more common phrases. I speak English fairly well but when taking to someone I find myself in difficulty at times. Not a loss for words, more like waiting for the vocabulary to load up in my mind. One can know a language but without practice it becomes difficult to actually speak it for short bursts of dialogue. I'm also learning Deutsche and Español on duolingo even though they're only available with English.

Your point is correct though people need to understand that Romanian is a latin language and we have a very easy understanding of the other Latin languages (french,italian etc). That's why is very easy for us to get around in these countries without using any translation apps. I believe 90% of the people in the video said they speak Italian and French beside the English language which is the 2nd most learned language in schools. That doesn't necessarily means they speak it fluently, but rather they can easily go in any of these countries and have no problems talking with the locals.

It's easy for Romanian to speak and learn almost every language. Romanian is a Latin language, so, every other language from "the family" comes easy. Like, French, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish. I guess is difficult for those whose native language are of Germanic or Saxon origin. English...we grew with it, since everything on tv is subtitled. Then, from English, we can learn German, and fron German, Dutch, Danish, Finnish etc. Also, the fact that in schools, learning a foreign language is a must, it helps us a lot.

To be fair most of them know the 3rd language as they studied it in school so purely basic stuff. I would not qualify that as knowing the language. Especially since French, Spanish and Itslian are quite similar and easy to learn for Romanians.

Well Dilios, I learned English and German in school and i would write literary summaries for books with no problem. After graduation, if you are not exposed to a language, yes, you will forget some of it, but it will quickly come back if need be. I spent a lot of years learning various languages. Can I say I am still fluent in all of them? No, but I have a very good understanding, reading and writing ability. So it is a complicated subject that you cannot dismiss like that. Learning a foreign language is taken very seriously in Romania. Ask the same question in U.S. and you are often ostracized for even speaking another language ...so yeah..I personally have profound admiration for all learners out there, no matter what language they are are speaking, learning, improving or forgot...
@ArissXAS Жыл бұрын
@@anamelikeothers That's true. I speak English and German at a good level, understanding almost everything, and over the years I learned other languages too, either by being exposed to them on one way or the other, such as Spanish and French, and maybe a bit of Italian, but also because I was interested in learning other languages, and only learned basic words in Russian, Croatian, Polish, Czech, Turkish, Hungarian, Latin and Chinese. I don't speak them even at conversational level, for some I barely remember how to count or to say a small sentence, but when the knowledge or culture hunger strikes, I take advantage and start learning. Hats off to anyone speaking more than 2-3 languages at a good or conversational level.
@anamelikeothers Жыл бұрын
@@ArissXAS out of context really, but have you tried Duolingo for learning new languages? I did Spanish, Portuguese, basic Russian and some Latin on Duolingo. I love that app and it's free.
@GlossaME Жыл бұрын
Yeah, but it's very hard for Spanish/ Italians or French people to learn Romanian. Why is that?
@ArissXAS Жыл бұрын
@@anamelikeothers yes, I did try it. Sorry for the late reply. I used it to learn Turkish and to improve my German and English. It is nice, but Russian, for example, I learned better from KZbin, by listening. I haven't learned the alphabet yet, unfortunately, only words pronunciation.

I don't know how many languages does Romanians that never left the country speak, but I'm more than sure Romanians that were/are part of the diaspora speak at least 3 languages. First language is of course Romanian, the second language is an international one (usually English) and the third language is the one of the country they moved in.
