This is so far the best video I've seen on this bag. The bumpers and the reverse opening (which work together), the ability for the bag to stand on its own, that vertical handle - these are huge ergonomic benefits that protect your gear and keep your back clean. You can stow the hip straps away if you don't need them. The bag is big enough for pretty big lenses too. I use it for my Nikkor 200-500mm. Personally I like the side access as I want to be able to switch to street photography on the fly. The only crappy thing for me is that tripod holder. It's pretty paltry - good enough for only small tripods. Thanks Roman!

Welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video! Yeah I agree on the tripod holder, I only use it for Joby gorillapod.

Is possible to use the bag as a table like in the previous flipside models? with the waist strap, avoiding the contact with the floor. Thanks
@hummel6405 Жыл бұрын
Hey Roman, I was very happy to see your video, because I bought this great backpack yesterday. I‘m really just as enthusiastic about the many possibilities of the light Gigant as you are! And all for this insane price. I have been taking photographs for thirty years, had a lot of bags so far and I am happy with this thing again. But you didn't talk about this great turning funktion, which allows the bag to be opened in front of the stomach and use it as a table. That was the deciding factor for me. But whatever, a very informative video! All the best and happy shooting!

Thanks for the review. You mentioned that hip belt is removable? I have watched reviews where they say it's not removable. Confused :)
@sounderdavis5446Ай бұрын
The hip belt cannot be detached from the bag without scissors/knife. But there are two small pouches, one on each side in back, so instead of clipping the belt in front, you can roll up each of the two hip belt parts and store them in their pouches in back of the 400 AW III. Stowed this way, the belt also gives you a little more padding in back above your hips.

Great video thank you. You mention the hip straps can be removed - are they fully removable or can they be tucked in?

thanks! they are removable!
@gyozakeynsianism2 жыл бұрын
No, they're not removable. They can be tucked into a couple compartments (you'll see when you look at the bag in person). It's a nice design decision, since you can turn it into a street backpack or back into a hiking backpack on the fly. Great design.

Are they removeble or not?
@rajpassy4154 Жыл бұрын
No, but they tuck in to the back pretty well @@benjamimdaniel7470
@sounderdavis5446Ай бұрын
@@benjamimdaniel7470 No, not detachable from the bag unless you use knife/scissors. As @gyoz... said, they are stowable in back, so you don't have to wear or use the hip strap.

Great review- does it fit easily under airplane seat or in carry on compartment on airplane? Thanks!
@Roman.the.explorer Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I would say it's better to keep it in carry on compartment, it would be tough to put it under the airplane seats

Given that the exterior material is made of 600D Polyester, is it hot to wear on the back in the hottest of days in the summer? I see that many companies use Nylon as their main external shell material

It's actually not bad! I live in Florida and didn't notice it being too hot!

Many thanks Roman for this detailled video. Does the belt still allow the bag to be worn in front and horizontally (resting on the hips) to change lenses without putting it on the ground? I could do this on my Flipside 300 mark 1 (thin belt) but am not sure if it is still possible with a wide belt.
@michcard1957 Жыл бұрын
Hi Roman. Actually there’s a question in my comment that you may have missed. Can you please tell me ?
@michcard1957 Жыл бұрын
Update. I have bought the bag and can now answer this question. On the AW300, the shoulder straps are sewn directly onto the body of the bag whereas on the AW400, they are attached to the back panel. The consequence is that when you carry the bag in front of you, with the waistbelt locked in the back and you remove the shoulder straps, it sits horizontally in front of you when closed (as with the AW300) but as soon as you open the back panel, the bag tends to fall off critically. The only trick I've found is not to open it in front of me but to the side (loosening the waistbelt a bit to allow for this) and to lift my hip and thigh slightly so that the bottom of the bag rests on my thigh. This is less stable than the AW300 but still doable (with a 7 kg load in the bag). Quite useful in dirty ground conditions.

Can you compress/squeeze this backpack? Many airlines have a hight restriction of 20 or 23 cm for hand luggage. Thank you!

Hi! Brother. Which one is better protactic 350 aw ii or Flipside 400 aw iii? Thanks a lot

I would go with protactic because it's more durable if you don't care about extra space

How sad you ignore the preferences of some your viewers and don't review the side access because you do not use it. That is a key decision factor for my purchase. Very disappointing. Also no comment made about the fexibility/not of the dividers to meet the needs of other people.
@Roman.the.explorer Жыл бұрын
Sorry about that! Hopefully you found a video showcasing the side access as well!
