You aren’t alone with the artichokes! We had No idea about these before our visit this past December and after have one Roman and one Jewish artichoke - we ordered them every meal! It shocked all our family and friends when they asked fav thing we ate in Italy was artichokes! Here in California - the home of artichokes for ALL of the states is in Castroville. Hard to explain they are NOT the same! Dreams of Italian artichokes! Thanks for another great video full of tips and tricks!

Don't get me wrong, I love California artichokes. I grew up with my mom making those huge globe artichokes with either butter or hollandaise sauce (this is long before we all went diet crazy) and we dipped the leaves in and just bit off the tender parts....but now that I have Roman artichokes I love them even more! On my shorts, I have a video about how to make them. I did this in Atlanta with my sister and I used an American globe artichoke. Not quite the same but doable!

Please consider a video on The Protestant or Non-Catholic Cemetery. There’s little info available on this place (at least in-depth on KZbin). I’ve been twice and found the place magical. Peaceful, quiet, roaming cats and a pyramid. The weeping angel statue is worth the visit. Thanks!
@Romewise Жыл бұрын
I love that cemetery also. It's why I did do a video that includes it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGXTeZqYi9d6kKs I made it in November 2020 so masks were required even outside, which is why I am waring a mask in this video. Thank you for watching and for your comments - I love suggestions so please feel free to send more!

Great channel! We will arrive in Rome March 20 4 days and Firenze 4 days. I am a bit confused on our Vatican visit, we want to attend a weekday Mass at St Peters, is there a queue for an actual Mass? Also, are tickets required to just visit the Basilica when there are no masses?

Thank you! We are cruising the Med for 28 days in Nov/ December and have been concerned about the weather and if mist thinks will be closed on the Greek islands.
@Romewise9 ай бұрын
I understand. A lot of people take cruises in late fall and winter. I can't speak for what will be open on the Greek islands, so you might want to check with your cruise company to see what they are suggesting.

I'm going to Rome from the 18th to the 22nd, I've loved watching your videos with explanations and tips and tours in Rome, very enlightening, but lately I've seen that there are so many works in Rome due to 2025 celebrating the jubilee, this really interferes with experience of seeing the monuments?
@RomewiseАй бұрын
Thank you for your comments. I'm glad you enjoy my content. There is a lot of social media exaggerating the works in Rome. Rome is still beautiful and many of the must-see sites are not under scaffolding. This will explain it better: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZTQcmqogN11kLs

Nice vid! How about the stores / Restaurants, are they closed on Christmas day?
@Romewise Жыл бұрын
Many restaurants are open on Christmas Day for Christmas lunch - in fact, you need to book in advance for many of these! Many are closed on Christmas Day evening, but you will find plenty open, especially in the centre. I have a page about where to eat at Christmas, and while we will update it closer to December of this year, many of these spots are consistently open on Christmas: www.romewise.com/where-to-eat-in-rome-at-christmas.html Most shops are indeed closed on Christmas Day. You can find out where to shop on Christmas Day if you need to, on my dedicated page here: www.romewise.com/rome-at-christmas.html

@Romewise7 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! I'm glad you found the video helpful. At this point, we are close to not having any low season in Rome. The third week in December may be a little quieter than September, but not by that much. I would always suggest purchasing your tickets in advance, and try going either first thing in the morning or close to closing. Have a great trip!

Could you please advice how will be the weather end of November and first week of December
@Romewise6 ай бұрын
At 00:51 I have a chapter about the weather and how to pack. The end of November and first week of December is still technically autumn. It can be sort of warm during the day and you might only need a light jacket but at night, it cools down a lot. You should layer and be prepared for rain. Always carry a scarf which is a great way to quickly warm up as temps drop when the sun goes down.

Great video. We are currently planning our trip to Italy and this will be the first time going during the holiday season. I have a question for you. I know when La Befana is feasted in January, however I was wondering if the Befana dolls can be found at the Christmas markets in December and if not, is there any shop I might be able to find one in. Kindest regards from Montreal, Canada
@Romewise Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Yes, you can absolutely buy the Befana dolls all around Rome before the January 6 holiday itself. You will see them all over at Piazza Navona in the market there as soon as it goes up! Have a wonderful time!

What month would you recommend to visit that is not that crowded and cold? Do you do guided tours yourself Thanks!
@Romewise Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting! I have a page about the best time to visit Rome: www.romewise.com/best-time-to-visit-rome.html There are perhaps two moments in the year where the crowds may be smaller and the weather is nice - the end of August /beginning of September, and the middle to the end of November. I explain why on that page above but will make a video about it as well. I don't do guided tours, but I can book you with some of the wonderful licensed guides we work with. If you want to know more, please write us at alessandro@romewise.com.

Ah I see you covered in other video.. 👍 I guess small backpack/handbag with a sandwich/passports/water bottle allowed inside..
@Romewise Жыл бұрын
Thank you! You can take "small" backpacks and handbags inside the Colosseum, but not large ones, i.e. for camping or travel. There are no lockers outside so if you have items you cannot or do not want to bring inside, I suggest you leave them at your hotel/apartment.
