Ren cut himself in the chest withglass from a broken TV in a laneway just to feel something. It's mentioned in one of The Chapters (There's 8) on his channel, worth a watch where he reads Chapters aloud about his life (It's Hertbreaking). A beautiful garden needs rain.

@@ROMsquadI gave that track by Nas a listen - I don’t hear the sample from Vera Hall in it, it sounds like some other female vocals following a similar but not the same tune. Moby did sample it in 1999 on Natural Blues. Checking on “who sampled” it doesn’t list Nas using the sample at all. The credits for If I ruled the world lists 2 others as sampled artists.
@sputukgmail6 ай бұрын
@@ROMsquadI’ve seen another comment point out the guitar part on this does sound similar to “the message” by Nas, who sampled it from “Shape of my heart” by Sting - and we know Ren is both a Nas and Sting fan so maybe the guitar riff he created for this is intended to pay homage to two artists he admires?

After having listened to Ren's Chapter Series Intently and multiple times, this track just encapsulates his story so well and serves as musical accompaniment for The Chapters. Ren's experiences are very familiar to me to say the least, as is often the case with many of his supporters. Ren's success is so deserved and I do truly hope it continues. Ren is the medicine many of us need. So raw and vibrant in color, combined with his naturally emotive performance! Indeed Ren....Your Limo has finally arrived. This in my mind one of the best lyrical raps ever written and performed...

As far as the Nas track you were referring to, a couple people heard it. They said it was from The Message if I remember correctly.
@sputukgmail6 ай бұрын
Ah, I can hear the similarity with The Message by Nas - although Nas Sampled Shape of My Heart by Sting to get that riff in The Message (slightly tuned up), so not the same source as the sample Ren used, but since Ren is a Sting and Nas fan, maybe he was subconsciously influenced to create something with a similar feel when he put down the guitar party on this? Or maybe it’s even a deliberate homage?

It's not Nas, Vera Hall's sample is of her song "Troubles so Hard", there is no music to that song, it's just her singing, and Ren added some effects to her voice. Nas song "The Message" has a guitar lick he sampled from a Sting song "Shape of my Heart". Ren also has a guitar lick way back in the mix of this track, but it is not the same as the one in The Message, Ren created it himself.

Keep fighting KZbin you will win in the end!! And love the studio mic upgrade it deffo makes the setup look more pro. Amazing reaction as always, a kid with autism can't be easy so full credit to you both for helping him through his Troubles! This song is just amazing and a message of hope for everyone struggling to find their way out of the dark, there is a chance this song could get in the UK charts this week which would be massive to raise awareness (some of the diseases Ren mentioned in the text I didn't know existed) so it's already raised awareness with me! What I also noticed in this song is the evolution of Ren as an artist, can see him constantly improving with his technique and style of flow (whether he is singing or rapping), and remember he is still not 100% cured so things hopefully will continue to get better in his health. Great job you guys, Ren continues to make waves!

This is sampled from an American Blues singer named Vera Hall. "Trouble So Hard" was released in 1937. Then Moby sampled it in 2000 with the song "Natural Blues". That might be where it sounds familiar to you.

REN- TROUBLES [Intro: Vera Hall] Ooh Lordy, troubles so hard Repeating [Verse] I don't reach into the past very much For these shards of shattered glass and harsh paper cuts Leave me stuck when I reach in memories are seeped in hydrochloric acid I go to war and get passive and freeze up But music helped the ice to thaw Put a chisel in the middle swing the hammer of Thor Pull it out of the impossible, excalibur sword Etching note pads full of reasons why my feelings arе sore The first day that I got sick ejеcted from cockpit of living Nineteen, young teen, waking up bitten Posters up, manhunt, Ren went missing Hard to have faith when the gods don't listen The first year maybe was the hardest Waking in a body that was buried like a carcass Brain in the lions den, body in a shark pit Waking up in pain again, aching, brokenhearted Persistent little bugger I was bouncing from a doctor To a doctor to a doctor like a table tennis game that has no end So be the fate of Ren Every single question answered with a question on the end The second year I came to terms with giving up my dreams Mind was severed from the means that helped me write these rhyme schemes Brain was inflamed. the fatigue was crushing Hard to remain sane with your brain combusting And the third year was murder, living in a purga- Tory full of worry, wouldn't live to be thirty Lifestyle hurt me, always in my bed tomb Re-arrange the alphabet and all the letters spell "doom" Light hurt my eyes, popping pills to survive When you're twenty-three and mentally you steadily decline Twenty-four I was poor, disability benefits What's the benefit of disability? It's irrelevant Twenty-five and the scars that were etched, they cracked Elastic bands only stretch so far and then snap Deep in psychosis, hallucinations, troubled vision Visits from the underworld were conjuring my superstition Twenty-five, living back at home with my mum But not because I'm a bum, alone and physically done So thin, so frail, so weak I'd become And my skin so pale, never kissed by the Sun One time I carved a whole in my chest, just to feel I wish that was a metaphor, the struggle was real When you're living in a holocaust you buckle and kneel There's relief in the teeth of the kiss of cold steel Facts, twenty-six I'm highly medicated and the pain sophisticated While I'm laying broke and naked on my back I brought my microphone into my coffin, started droppin' Raw thoughts with the grim reaper knocking on the track Then man, lo and behold I heard an angel beckon on this treacherous road Was a stem cell doctor with a generous glow And a cell transplant brought me out of the cold And my skin got younger and my body got stronger And my stomach felt hunger for a door that was closed And my soul heard music for the first time Beauty was a word I'd use for this gift of gold Oh Lord, I forgive you, Lord I forgive you Lord, I forgive you, make me whole This music I give you, pain that I live through Everything I've been through is yours to hold

Man, I feel you talking about ADHD and the other things that come along with it (anxiety and depression). I also tried every med that was available with no success, just side effect that were intolerable. I gave up on meds and one day decided to eliminate foods from my diet, and slowly reintroduced them one at a time. I found that wheat and corn was my main issue due the inflammation it caused. So I was having feeling of the flu all my life basically (brain frog). I was so bad that I would put my car keys in the refrigerator, for example. After eliminating those foods, I feel like a totally different person. I have been clear headed for 10 years now. I am a Psychiatric RN and rarely do I see providers trying this elimination diet first, they prescribe meds first. Give this a try, you maybe be surprised and how much better you feel.
