All the weasleys are immensely talented after all there mother is a prewitt. All their talents shined in one way or another but I think Ron's lack of self confidence is what held him back. Even tho he shows a tremendous amount of bravery. And shows he's a keen strategist by playing what dumbledore was the greatest game of chess hogwarts had ever seen. And he constantly delivers on this skill especially during the last part of the second wizarding war

In the post-movie phase of the Harry Potter franchise, people forget that Ron used to be the most popular character from the books and there is a reason for that. In the films, a lot of his best moments are either left out entirely or handed off to another character (often Hermione). A lot of his worst moments are left in and to him, however, and are sometimes even exaggerated. Does he have bad moments? Of course! We ALL do. What is more, because we're not inside Harry's head in the films, we miss a lot of the negative things about Harry's personality that we see in the books. When I saw this video, I was so happy because I know the films have had such a strong, negative affect on how the character is viewed.

Ron exemplifies what it means to be Gryffindor more than any other Gryffindor student in the books. Brave, loyal, courageous… he’s got those in spades, maybe not so much chivalrous but he does learn that better later on. Just look at some of his accomplishments…. 11yrs old he won against a chess set enchanted by Mcgonagal, at 12 won one of the highest honors the school can give, at 15 became a prefect, learned how to make a patronus, helped to win the quidditch cup and fought off highly skilled death eaters, at 17 helped take down Voldemort (among other things like saving Harry from drowning etc…) He’s a highly skilled wizard who just happens to come from a rather large family and is over shadowed by not only his best friend but his brothers as well. It’s like Harry said in book 5, his only real problem is a mental one.

He didn’t fight off highly skilled deatheaters. They were defeated if the aurors didn’t arrive. And helping to win the quidditch cup is something members of each house’s quidditch team does, it’s not something so special when considering there’s 27 people doing this other than him that year, and thats considering the team doesn’t change players throughout the whole year, which they can. I wouldn’t say saving Harry from drowning is an accomplishment like the others you mentioned.

I don't know about better, but Ron doesn't get the credit he deserves. As for him being mad at Harry in the 4th book, all Ron ever wanted was to stand out in his family. If he were a Hogwarts champion, that would have been something the other Weasley's did not have. So, when he thought Harry put only his name in the cup - not even both he and Ron's names - he must have been hurt.

That's NOT Harry's fault. With the exception of Hermione, NOBODY knows what Harry's been through in his first three years like Ron does, or how much Harry DOESN'T want to be noticed. The projection Ron does on Harry in 'GoF in in no way Harry's fault - neither is the inferiority complex Ron has because of his family - and as much as it sucked to see Harry thrown into the spotlight again, the fact is that Ron was not only wrong for acting as he did, but when Harry CORRECTLY said that it happened just so that someone did it to try and kill him (AGAIN!)... Ron walked out on him. He could have talked to Harry or Hermione about his feelings, but he didn't - and one more thing. Harry may not have felt he needed to hear Ron apologize but Ron damn sure needed to say it, because that's what you do when you screw your best friend over for no reason whatsoever on their part. If anything, Harry would have said (had they thought seriously about it) that Ron had better not dare enter; his mother would go through the Veil, kick that button and drag Ron back through before she sends him back to school.

He denied loving some glory not all but some cant deny this or dispute. In the book he gets mad jealous of Ron same as Ron gets jealous o Harry to me each wanted something to mean alot to them. Harry at that given time was jealous but for the wrong reasons he wanted to be Prefect to be in charge he liked being leader deep down i think, its shown many times. Harry also barely talked it out with ROn which when your best friends it seemed ifyou were ROn in real life and the girl you like and best mate talks mroe together you eel like out cast your just the third wheel your part of the team but a bit pushed aside of importance they did many times neglect him and did make him out to be a third wheel not Hermione or Harry believed Ron could be Prefect tho Ron who doubts himself as it is that comes with it but HArry should not for once be dstupidly jealous of Ron when for once Ron beat him at something even if it was a reason behind it, Harry experienced and learned that i think from what i read in the books by these moments and few others that he ddi like some attention not much but some and not getting Prefect badge took a toll on him for once for deep down he liked in some little way being on top same as he like i stated wanted to win the torunament in the book if he could put his name in at night when no one looking and it happens and if you had Harry and Hermione out showing u and your own family kinda makes u out to be a weak link it would happen to you if you were Ron i bet you ud feel the same and like points like i made above i believe and i maybe right on them as i sta ted that deep down Harry loves some glory ... evne i nto all ..... and many times or some times he gets mad easily when it dont happen.. Harry tells Ron how he would have put his name in, and surprise surprise, it happens (and when Ron points out the inconsistency, Harry basically calls Ron stupid). Not to mention that Ron asks Harry why/who would have put his name in, and Harry doesn't even say what "Moody" said, a plot to kill him, because he feared that it would be "melodramatic" (because obviously Ron would never believe Harry saying that it would be a plot to kill him, after all Ron hasn't been on life-threatening adventures for 3 years right?!). So basically Harry just repeats "I didn't do it" without giving specifics to Ron, with all the circumstantial evidence hanging against him, and then does the surprised Pikachu meme when Ron doesn't believe him. The thing is, we only have the benefit of Harry's perspective. We know Harry didn't do it. But from Ron's perspective, it is perfectly reasonable to think that Harry did put his name, if one takes into account the following facts: * Harry, Ron and the others except Hermione continually talking about how great it would be to enter the tournament. * Harry telling Ron how he himself would have done it. * A loud cheer for Harry in Gryffindor common room, Harry stays for 30 mins, then comes up to dorm with celebratory banner around him. * Harry refuses to say why someone could have potentially put his name, despite obstinately repeating that he did not do it. * Harry calls Ron stupid when Ron accurately points out that he said how he would have done it last night. So, it was a fight between two best friends who later made up a few weeks later, not "walking out". And no, Ron did not need to apologize if Harry felt that he didn't need to hear it. Unspoken apologies, especially between guys, are a thing. From the text, we know that Ron was sorry, and if that's good enough for Harry, it should be good enough for the reader as well. And one last thing... people may think from the narrative of the books that only Harry and Hermione's feelings matter, but that's stupid. Ron has feelings, wants and needs too, and he's allowed to express them without people bitching about him being "selfish" .

It’s also left out of the movie that Harry did say that he would’ve put his name in the goblet when no one was around. One thing I would like to point out is that Ron had an extensive knowledge of The wizarding world that Harry and Hermione lacked. Hurrying her money have been raised by muggles. In the first book Ron pointed out that dragon breeding was illegal and that Haggard could get into serious trouble. Run also pointed out to Harry that creature could escape the inferior cave that held voldemort's soul because he was a household and the elf magic was much different than wizarding magic.

Bro it seems you have started a whole you tube channel on Harry Potter folklore and have not read any of the books, you should also talk about how his important moments and lines were stolen by other characters, like he standing before Sirius Black in Prisoner of Azkaban and saying he would have to kill him before he kills Harry. And in Harry Potter goblet of fire he was not angry with Harry because of envy he was angry because of betrayal. Moreover the movies i think deliberately tried to make him dumb and afraid for comic relief which part was assigned to neville in the book. He was just as afraid in any situation which any normal person would be. In HP2 we know that his greatest fear is spiders and then also he goes with Harry in the forest and faces his greatest fear, many people would chicken out in that kind of situation.

A lot of people see a connection between the Marauders and The Golden Trio. Hermione is the better version of Lupin the smartest of the year ,but whereas Lupin couldn’t bring himself to challenge his friends Hermione challenged her friends all the time. Neville is a better version of Peter but whereas Peter sought power and safety Neville never sought power and through that fought and became a hero to the wizarding world. Now the last two are the hardest to draw contrivances from Ron could be Sirius who was James’ second in command and who were more brothers then best friends. But I believe Sirius and Harry have more in common Sirius and Harry both were basically orphaned and ok with a wand but whereas Sirius had a show for the theatrical and was very cunning, Harry was direct and allowed his friendship to help him not hurt him. Where does that leave James and Ron? Well Ron and James have a lot in common they both took in boys that were virtually orphaned and became their best friends and almost brothers they both were incredibly loyal almost to a fault. But whereas James was very carefree and was an only child making him very selfish and just not good. Ron grew up in a household with 6 other siblings and he never stood out until the wizarding war. He became humble and still incredibly loyal to his friends. Sorry wall of text

Ron is damn near the only character with any flaws and real emotions (not just fashionable ones). Harry is almost completely a cypher, an everyman that is our pov character and barely reacts genuinely to everything around him. Hermione is basically perfect, especially in the movies where they removed what small flaws she had and gave her all of Ron's cool moments. Ron is the bravest one because he's the one who actually is afraid. He's the only one with actual personality flaws he must overcome in order to be a hero while having everything against him since the moment he was born. His own family never appreciated him and seemed to care more for Harry than they did him If he'd been given a proper wand he might have been far more confident since he wouldn't have had to work twice as hard to achieve basic results, for example. But he still carried on in spite of it all.

My theory is Molly really wanted a girl all along. She has 7 kids because she wanted a girl and prob got irritated that all she could produce were baby boys. When Ginny was born she must have ecstatic her wish finally came true. If Ron had been the baby girl he wouldn't have been the hero he became. It's because he was neglected like Harry was that he strives so hard to prove himself. If he'd been the girl he'd have the wand he deserved and would probably have been a really great wizard. But I think he did end up making good choices by befriending Harry because he did help in defeating Voldemort which makes him awesome.

Wands were expensive, Harry’s costed seven galleons and in 1992 the Weasleys only had a small collection of Sickles, 15 of which amounted to one galleon and that was supposed to pay for seven sets of school textbooks, plus Ginny’s new school things and most of those supplies were second hand as well. It probably made sense for Ron to receive Charlie’s wand considering he had left school by the time Ron was to attend and had earned enough money to buy a new wand

I really have some bones to pick with Steve Cloves, the screen writer. He put some of Ron's best lines in other peoples' mouths, e.g. the scene in the pit with the devil's snare. It's Hermione who panics, and Ron who reminds her "Are you a witch or not?"

I see things totally different. Ron was a good friend, but that's about it. He was more of a jerk most of the time, especially towards Hermione. He was a jerk to Sir Nicholas, he was initially a jerk to Cho Chang, he was a jerk when he was a prefect, he was a jerk towards Ginny, he was a jerk towards the quidditch team in the 6th book... and those of us who read the book know that he had nothing to do with helping Harry learn about the dragons. Ron's best quality was loyalty, and I applaud him for that except for the one month (that's what it was in the book) when he was jealous of Harry for being a Hogwarts champion. Better than Harry? As if! lol
