It was such a warm feeling seeing the family participate in the build. I have yet to find a carpenter willing to do this where I am located. Thank you for Sharing.

I like how you included the tests for troubleshooting the stud finder. This was one of the best DIY videos I’ve ever seen. The calm, gentle and step-wise approach is heart-warming!

The test holes was a great tip, I'll keep that in my back pocket. Also love including the kids in these projects. There is so much little kids can do to help, and they'll remember doing this together.

I was listening to The Drama of the Gifted Child by Alice Miller and this video reminded me of one example given in that book. Including children in assembling the table was a brilliant idea. With proper supervision, it does something to the child's brain to be allowed when they are allowed to participate in such activities.

Yeah, I didn't understand why, if they were moving it, they didn't just recenter it BELOW the whole bookshelf. I mean, if you don't have enough wire, just thumbscrew it together and attach it to the outlet (turn off the fuse first).

Hi Ron, I prefer power tools for this job, I have a special bit the I put into my trim router, it has a smooth end to it that will not cut into pipes or electrical wires and to dust is sucked away by the vacuum attached to the router

May I ask what that bit is called?

Google router drywall bit. There are lots designed for drywall cutting.

I don't understand why you wouldn't install the electrical outlet on the border between shelves, or below. Why would you put it in the middle of the bulletin board?

This was really helpful. I want to do a small version of this and fix the ones we already have from previous owners. I’m curious though, what was the purpose of gluing the shelves before nailing them in? To create a seal all the way around?

I would not have used adhesive on the wall to hang the cork. Eventually after enough use you're going to want to replace it. And ripping that off the wall is going to make you cry for a few reasons. 😂

I want to build a shelf between studs too… it’s a plan

How do I fix a deeply recessed entertainment shelf in a cape cod? The previous owner didn't insulate it, and there is a crawlspace only on the oneside.

Love it all, but hate that plug in. I would have put it under the frame.

Great video. I read somewhere that fire code requires lining the studs with 1/2" drywall. Is it true that it's not a good idea to install a wood shelf butted up against the studs? I'm wondering because we're in the process of installing recessed shelves inside our pantry. I hate to give up the space to add drywall on each side if it isn't necessary. Can anyone advise? Thank you.
