If you change your own oil this is a must have item for the 2.7L ecoboost. The force the oil comes out with when you pull off the stock plug makes a huge mess. I've had this plug for about two years and actually just changed my oil. It was still a bit hot, but wasn't an issue. Tremendous product!

I just got an answer to my comment. Thanks, they do sell replacement tools. I was told I can store in glovebox, so I would not lose. I don't want some oily tools in my glove box. Again, I would lose the tool. Want to be superstars, Redesign the plug to work without the special tool. It's a great idea, just need to be fine tuned.

Just put in this Ronin oil drain plug on 2019 Ford Mustang 5.0 engine, and it is a perfect fit!!!! Thanks to Ronin for this great product, hate the yellow plastic plug that came with car, one of the tabs immediately broke off taking standard yellow drain plug out. Ronin really fills a need to replace those plastic plugs that come standard with new Ford Raptors and Ford Mustangs. Thanks guys, product was a perfect fit and will not have to struggle with any more oil mess on the next oil change!!!!

@Ronin Factory I've read reviews of this plug causing damage to the composite locking tabs on the inside of the oil pan where the detent is. The reviews cite the cause being sharp corners in detent section. On the low side, this causes a small, constant leak. On the high side, this causes a very costly oil pan replacement. In the years that this product has been offered, have you ever updated the design of the detent? Have you seen a sizable number of damaged composite oil pans? I'm very interested in the plug, however, I will not risk damaging the oil pan.

I have seen this product installed on 3 different Broncos (mine, my son’s and my neighbor)! No leaks, No Problems! These are installed once and should never need to be removed! I find it highly unlikely that these are damaging oil pans upon initial installation. In my opinion, the people writing those reviews either installed the plug incorrectly (there is definitely a likelihood of this occurring) or they are removing and reinstalling the plug multiple times! My son and i have had this product for almost 2 yrs (i have performed 5 oil changes so far) with not even one drop of oil afterwards!

@@kylegeldmaker - I understand your cautiousness! UPR has designed 4 different plugs that work for the Bronco! Maybe you should look at the ‘UPR Ford Speed Oil Drain Valve’ (their latest iteration)! That one would be the plug that i would choose if i were making that decision currently! I personally believe that their are hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of aftermarket plugs in service on plastic Ford oil pans (especially F150s) and that the faulty issues may lie in Ford’s notorious reputation for QC and ever-so-slight variations in the pan’s workmanship which may affect the aftermarket plug’s ability to seal effectively! Either way, i’m never going back to the disposable plastic OEM plugs!

Hi, Sorry I don't get notifications of these comments, we handle customer emails very quickly thought. To answer your question: We have sold over 50,000 of these in the last 4 years. We have seen a very small percent of people who had damaged the small tabs of the oil pan. When I say small, I mean, less than 10. And the reason for the damage was always user error. They removed the plug (attempted to) without 1st pushing against the wave spring. Instead they just torqued on it with a big pliers and it stripped the plastic tabs. This is why we have a warning on our website on how to remove it. We advise customers not to remove the plug if they dont have to, so as long as you aren't constantly removing it, you remove all risk of accidentally damaging the plastic pan. It is totally fine to remove the plug if you want to, you just have to do it properly.

here's the thing about the factory plug. The old style has an indentation for a 3/8s ratchet or breaker bar to fit into so that you can tighten the plug. The 'updated' one has a plastic tab to tighten with. You could use a pair of pliers to tighten the plug but in theory the plastic could break. But the real problem is that they are made in China and a lot of them leak. A small constant leak. I put one in and now I going to try this thing from Ronin. I hate oil leaks......... ps. I bought the plastic plug from Amazon. Never again
@owenbaum4815
@owenbaum4815 2 жыл бұрын
your first problem is using a ratchet or pliers to put the plug in, it’s supposed to go in by hand you will hear a click and feel it lock. the 3/8 insert is only to loosen the plug and get it passed the lock.

The OEM Plug will require replacing the o-ring after every few oil changes which means you'd have to keep buying new plastic plugs. I think you all are being hyper sensitive here, which is highly unfortunate. You sound like a bunch of misfit kids. I am getting one of these. I want two drain tools though and Ronin, you should have a military style lanyard setup to prevent the loss of the lid. You could even go as far as creating a stow point for the tool somewhere on the under body panel. You may or may not use my ideas to better your product as well as justify the cost but, I will buy your oil cap system and make the mods to it myself. Cap and tool loss are the only things stopping mass sale of this... If it were my company, I would most definitely listen to potential consumers and rectify their concerns ASAP! Seems to me you stopped short of design by not considering all risk analysis issues. No worries, I will finish my product off where you stopped!
@RoninFactory
@RoninFactory 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input. We certainly did a lot of risk analysis which is proven by our satisfied customers who are using the product. Because we cannot have any tolerance in having this item fail, we made sure to design redundant systems. We went above and beyond what other manufactures would as far as the material and coating choices which cost a lot more money, but we feel better doing it that way. We suggest to clean the key tool when you are done with it and keep it in your glove box, that way you won't lose it. Thanks for your input.

@RoninFactory
@RoninFactory 5 жыл бұрын
Not quite...with the OEM plug, on a level-parked truck, about 3/4 cups (0.18 qts) of oil will remain in the pan. If you angle the truck 4 degrees (by raising the front end about 9") there will be 1/4 cup (0.06 qts) of oil remaining with the OEM plug removed. Similarly, with the truck raised and our plug installed, only about 1/2 cup (0.12 qts) of oil will remain. So the real actual difference is pretty minimal between using our plug and the OEM plug. Raising the truck further doesn't really help get the remaining amount of oil out due to the internal design of the pan. If you do the math, with our plug, only about 1.5% of old oil will remain, whereas with the OEM plug only 0.80% of oil will remain...splitting hairs really. (assuming an engine that holds 7.7 qts of oil).
