17 days is a long time but consider that when the World Championships started, the matches were WAY longer and matches really were marathons, AND they had to play unplayed frames!! And consider the prize money now. Back in JD’s day, it was a pittance and they played for almost a whole week in the finals! Ok, there are more players now and the standard and pressure is higher, but still, the prize money reflects that. I don’t know what they are complaining about. Also, the fans MAKE the game what it is, otherwise they wouldn’t get the sponsors. You can’t have the glory without the graft!! I have to agree here. The worlds should be moved to a bigger 2500 seater venue if in the UK, at least in London, Manchester, or Birmingham. It would create much more exposure and allow more revenue for the authorities. I'm not sure why you'd enjoy living in the past when snooker was very different in 1977, and losing time and money by keeping it at the Crucible. The table area is too tight, and maybe allow for 3 tables, so a day off after semi-finals can be created. Move on and the platform is there. A new venue and call it the Crucible if you have to. It's like choosing the old mini by leaving the Range Rover to get you there.
