Activism has gone too far people are all sheep and lack understanding and nuance, it's just a grift at this point for bands and celebrities.

Activism has gone too far when a random band drops off a gig? How incredibly extreme. Wild days we live in
@russm43917 ай бұрын
@@stum7396 I am generalizing here, it’s not just bands it’s certain people who have some amount of fame that will bow down to activists and do unreasonable things because their politics get in the way. You think it’s somehow justified for a band to drop off shows cause a Jewish person is behind an event or sponsorship? Sounds dumb as hell to me and anti semitic. Not every Jew has anything to do with what’s going on in Israel and Palestine.
@stum73967 ай бұрын
@@russm4391 I mean, firstly I think any band - like any worker - can choose to work or not because I don't believe in slavery. Secondly, they didn't drop off because a Jewish person sponsored it. That is a wild misrepresentation and you know it (surely?). They dropped off because a *bank* who gives a tonne of money to a *government* who are massacring *civilians* sponsored it. My bigger concern is that Barclays have gotten away with pulling out of the festival rather than pulling out of the Israeli state.
@russm43917 ай бұрын
@@stum7396 you have no nuance, it’s war that was started by Hamas. Civilian casualties are normal. In fact Israel are actively trying to reduce the casualties on both sides. Hamas celebrates the deaths on their side because they think it’s martyrdom.
@stum73967 ай бұрын
@@russm4391 I'll say one thing though, at least so far you have been polite and respectful and fair play for that, too little of it on the internet. I don't suppose we'll be the first people ever to convince each other on this subject on line so I'll probably leave it here. But take care mate 👍

I fully support freedom of association. If a band doesn't want to play a tour that has sponsors they disagree with, more power to them. Sacrificing for your beliefs is commendable. However, I don't see how this changes anything for their cause.

The one comment about what hardcore used to represent is F’kn hilarious. They obviously don’t remember bands like Warzone, Agnostic Front, Gang Green etc. These bands were Pro America, Anti Communism but I wouldn’t expect anything else. As Scowl was on tour with Limp Bizkit and almost signed to them. A new found respect for Ronnie. 🙏🏻🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸

I love that these are all no name bands that think it's making a change when all it's doing is affecting their bands future.... What's happening in Palestine is horrible, but not playing at Download isn't going to stop what is happening. The only thing that will stop that war is the leaders of the country. Not a UK festival.

This is why Ronnie's blowing up right now and everyone watching this is like "who the fuck is Scowl?" And he called it on this one... this is a stunt by D-list "artists" for attention. At these festivals these are the kinds of bands that go first, in the morning or early afternoon. The filler. It's hilarious to me that they think they matter enough to get the festivals to drop a sponsor.
