The greatest albums of The Rolling Stones were recorded during Brian Jones and mainly Mick Taylor Years, except for Some Girls. This is my opinion, but I really think that Ron is the face of the band. In fact I do love the Stones, almost all their albums.
@NoCats-on-Guitars3 ай бұрын
@@luizoswaldoabreu2752 Same with me, I love almost all their albums, there are great songs on every one. They recorded their best albums when Brian Jones had stopped working with them and before Mick Taylor joint the band. These are the albums Keith Richards recorded most of the guitar parts alone and made the songs and the sound of the Stones timeless.
@luizoswaldoabreu27523 ай бұрын
Yeah, you're right. Beggars Banquet and Let it Bleed are those albums. Outstanding ones. I think that their greatest years are from Beggars Banquet til Goats Head Soup which the critics used to depreciate but a hell of an album, filled with fabulous tunes indeed. On account of Brian Jones, I really appreciate their first and second albums, great Rhythm & Blues songs, but I also love Between the Buttons, great psychodelism, better than Their Satanic Majestie Request. The Satanic could be a better album than the infamous Seargent Peppers if the Stones put the songs We love you, Dandelion and Child of the moon in the place of Sing this alltogether (see what happens), Gomper and On with the show. Really bad tracks..... What do you think, man?

I know folks will hate me for this - that M.T. left tha STONES was never a prob for me 'cause M.T. never was one of tha boys! Sure M.Taylor was an amazing guitarplayer within tha STONES, but after he left, he never did something amazing, only tha "INFIDELS"-tour with great BOB DYLAN! -- M.Taylor's solo gigs are even boring. But I appreciate him for his time and tunes as a member of tha STONES - but when RONNIE jumped in tha STONES it was like a fresh satisfieing summerbreeze. RONNIE is not so shy as Taylor was, RONNIE is a very good guitarplayer, even with amazing soloalbums and gigs. He's a real Stone and always kindly and in good mood on stage - jumpin, runnin, jokin, on fire as a musician! Last not least he's a real brother to KEITH and with tha STONES he did amazing albums, like "some girls", "emotional rescue", "undercover", "voodoo lounge", "steel w....", not to forget "hackney diamonds". I was at STONES gigs (with RONNIE) it was real at tha top as a rockband can be at all. This man is fire, anyway he plays with tha STONES or New Barbarians, or with an other soloband or with MUDDY W. and countless others. He never let an audience dissatisfied! And I said, don't forget his great soloalbums! He brought tha STONES up again, not down! Always those wailing folks living in tha past, only doin yep yep yep 'bout the M.Taylor times and how much better Taylor was as RONNIE... Taylor left tha STONES not tha STONES left Taylor! He left em as an addicted but free man, it was his descision. RONNIE joined in and for me it's no doubt that it was tha best renewing way for tha STONES! - Kindly regards to all STONES maniacs with free spirits and own opinions and accepting free spirits and own opinions from other folks. In my humble opinion, Ronnie embodies the best of what Brian Jones AND Mick Taylor brought to the band. He has the ability to hop from one instrument to the next. He CAN be a soloist when called upon, but he can just as easily drop back into the groove and trade licks with Keith. In terms of personality, he is the "Ringo Starr" of the Rolling Stones, in that he brings everyone together. I'm put off by people who say that Ron has "no distinguishable sound" and "I can't tell who is doing what in that band". THAT IS THE POINT of how Keith and Ron collaborate. You're NOT SUPPOSED TO see the seams. Get it now??

Look, I know I just posted this to the previous video, but it bears repeating. To Wood's critics I say, YEAH, RIGHT!?! I'm sorry, but by the time Taylor left, the whole endless guitar solo era had already gotten tired. By the mid 70s, the punks were gaining ground on the Stones and the rest of the Brit Invasion survivors. There is NO WAY- and I am a HUGE fan of his- that Jeff Beck could've done what RONNIE did to revitalize the Stones. Things had to change and Ronnie immeasurably helped the Stones get over themselves and get back to basics. Not by trying to be the Sex Pistols but by stripping their sound and by extension their persona back to a hard rocking, get-up-and-go rock and roll band but now with a lighter touch. That while they were STILL the Stones, but they were also NOW the premiere rock and roll party band- the spot once occupied by Wood's former group, the Faces. Wood brought energy and most importantly FUN back to the Stones and their sound. They had their BIG post "Exile" Renaissance from 1978 to 1984. from "Some Girls" to "Undercover" with hit-after-genuine-fucking-hit. It's not for nothing that Jeff Spicoli himself said that after he won the Hawaiian Tropic Surfing Championship that he and "Mick are gonna wing on over to London and jam with the Stones..!" And that was back in 1982! For those of us in high school back then THAT was the Stones to us. The earlier Mick Taylor much-rightfully hailed, classic period was something we only discovered AFTERWARDS. It was all due again to Ronnie showing up and giving the Stones a much-needed transfusion of energy and FUN. "Gimme Mick, Gimme Mick! Bulging eyes, greasy hair, lips so THICK. Are you woman? Are you man? I'm you're greatest living fan. You can rock me, you can roll me til I'm SICK!"- Candy Slice.

He offered me some coke to smoke, I told him, and I'm 17, I am curious about it, but, I want to be more aware of it, before using. Ronnie told me "That sounds smart ". And he tried to give me some money and, even tho I was totally broke, I declined. And never did get a call from a place I applied for a job at on that day. So, hah, hah, hah, I doubt he still wants to be my friend after I gave him ideas for his 2nd autobiography book. Never did replace the hard stuff with WEED!!! Did you. Great guitarist. Solid musical aficionado and can play with anyone, anywho, and HAS...but why does he not have the prestige of a Clapton or Hendrix? Not sure. Doesn't really have "known" solos like every classic rock "Guitarist" but is always a key instrumental player with all the bands he's ever played with. He knows the keys and chords and makes all sound great. Was the Best lead guitarist with The Faces. Like any great musician, though, you don't really want them to stand out, because if you notice an instrument while listening to a band, there's something not right about it, which is why it stands out...but, if it fits in and you don't notice it, it's right. So,... there you have it. Even though I personally feel Ronnie played second fiddle to Keith, (He was more instrumental, and more vocal, in The Faces) Ronnie felt the feeling of fitting in and contributing to which, where, whomever he was playing with, to CONTRIBUTE to whatever he was hearing in that moment to add to it his own expression of musical intuitiveness that he felt the need to. Maybe held them together to keep going for the fresh energy, and inspiration. Great for all it is, but I'd still rather hear Ronnie play with other people, and Mick Taylor as the soloist or Brian Jones as the multi-instrumentalist for this band we all know and Love as The Rolling Stones.

The real difference in the two guitar lineup is the effect of the contribution. Brian's parts were iconic. Very creative. Very distinct from Keith's. Also Brian was a multi-instrumentalist. So his contributions were not only distinctive they were diverse and usually memorable. Mick T. was primarily a very refined and gifted blues player with some jazz flavouring and excellent slide work. As for Ronnie? Quite frankly I have no idea what his contributions are. He's a good slide player and has good timing. But other than that? Not sure. Mind you, I saw him several times in 1968 with Jeff Beck. He was *amazing* on bass. So underrated. Great sound. Great groove. Great stage presence.

With Ronnie, Keith was able to go back to the weaving style he'd formed with Brian.
@manjay49Ай бұрын
@TheaterPup OK. I hear you. But with Brian I could always hear and differentiate the interwoven parts and the separate patterns in the 'tapestry' resulting from the 'weaving' and the interplay. With Ronnie, I cannot always distinguish who is doing what, especially when Keith is usingbstandard tuning. A bit easier when Keith is using his 5-string Tele with the open G tuning. OK. Agreed, that can make for a more integrated and homogenous result. But for me, the results are less interesting. As Keith has mentioned several times, when it comes to the mixes, he cannot always tell who is doing what. In that sense, Ronnie is more like a musical clone of Keith. Brian, on the other hand, never sounded like Keith. Yet their parts were always in synch and complementary but always distinguishable. There are many examples. It's All Over Now, Little Red Rooster, The Last Time, Satisfaction, Think, Lady Jane just to site a few. However, being 75, you can tell what my orientation is. I kind of drifted away from The Stones in the post-Brian era. He might not have been a principle songwriter, but for me, he was The Secret Sauce, the Magic Ingredient.
