Thanks so much, Ronnie. I live in Maine and the snow and ice, especially now, makes outdoor training not just difficult, but dangerous. I've been needing some good ideas for indoor training not just for myself, but for my kids as well, who, thanks to you and some others, I've been teaching myself. Please keep the awesome videos coming, because I'm sure I'm not the only person you've helped. Thanks so much for your hard work.

Would you do a video on how to get over back flipping fear? I know you did one earlier about fear in general but the one kind of fear I can't make my body overcome is the fear of trying a back flip; I always freeze. Also, if I'm not able to would it be better to try training in a gymnasium with a spotter?
@Rockhopper111 жыл бұрын
knowledge is fear, I have a fear of heights and water, I booked a diving coach to help me through it. If you explain and be vocal over what your worried about a coach will help you out. I couldnt jump of the side of the pool, by the end of the session I managed to jump of a 3m board, I was petrified but it gets easier,
@lorenzorodriguez-ricetti875310 жыл бұрын
you should try progressions in which your body goes back and around a good example are knee giants, they really get you used to the movement ;)

This video is super useful, I live on a farm and even when I do get into the nearby towns there's not much to do, so any extra way I can train is really useful! I'll probably look at your parkouring in a nature video once I'm done with this comment cause the farm I live on is right by some open-access forestry, so more usefulness. I do have a crashmat, springboard, and vaulting box in one of the barns and in winter there's always the stack of haybales for more interestingness, but it's still tricky to get much variety. Something in the house besides the stairs for me to use is good. xD So yeah, thanks again for this! Oh, having mentioned my stairs - stairs are brilliant for all sorts of things. You can jump off the last few steps to practise jumping down. Just be careful not to hit your head, and that you have enough landing room! You'll need varying amounts of landing room depending on jump size and landing style, if you just do a safety-touch landing and stop rather than going forwards you don't need much room at all but this isn't particularly brilliant for your knees. Safety-touch moving smoothly into running forwards and slowly bringing youirself to a stop over a few strides is better for you knees and can be done if like me you have a hallway going straight forwards from your stairs. Best on your knees is doing a shoulder-roll but this takes the most room and if you're like me and not particularly brilliant at it, unless you have a really thick carpet you're probably going to bang up your shoulder and/or hip doing this. Basically just apply common sense. You can jump back up them too, best done if you have a hallway or decent room coming out from the stairs so you can get a run-up, you can see how many steps up you can jump! You can use your arms in this to help you get up another step, you can also jump up the last few steps at the top. :) Plus you can use stairs for the quadrupedal movement - going up my stairs I'm more often on four legs than two! You need co-ordination for it, but it is pretty good. You can also run up them only putting a foot down on every second step. If I'm not on all fours I'm doing this one, and I actually do this on all fours as well. xD If you have larger stairs this may not be so easy, but I find I can do this on any stairs I've come across! Of course, with all of this, apply common sense and be careful. :)

When I was training for the army entrance they encouraged very slow dead hang pull ups - a minimum of 3 with 7 counting as a max score for their entry test. I assumed this was to work more muscle groups and make it easier to climb things, but since I started training for parkour I've found rapid pull ups falling just short of a full dead hang is much better to help with climbing. That locking motion is very important for muscle control and giving you the ability to shoot up. Now if only I didn't live in the Truman show where it rains every time I leave my house.
