Played a Warforged Druid who had spent a few centuries as a scarecrow. Used my druid abilities to A) transform into a swarm of crows, and B) summon swarms of crows. It was only for a one-shot so I didn't get to pull off any shenanigans with this, but I DID introduce my character by flying in as a massive storm of crows which coalesced into a big ol' scarecrow. It was a good time.

I’m trying to make a “Forrest Gump” like character of a warforged (Forges, Forges Gump if you will) After the War ended a bunch of people were protesting and holding signs saying “Warforged get out!” He was a warforged, so he got out. He eventually went to a town square where he asks a guard “what do people do when they lose their purpose?” “Get Drunk” Now he doesn’t know what “drunk” are, but he’s made it his goal to find some and get a new purpose in life! I’m thinking maybe a monk/fighter multiclass but I’m not sure (I’m really new to DND, I’ve only had one character before and … well… you know what happens to first characters)

Really good start for a character. I think you have a great background and a good starting point for your character arc/goals. I would suggest asking yourself if he is already an accomplished fighter (his level 1) that wants to become more studious and diciplined in his purpose (taking levels in monk) Or if his new purpose would be learning to be a martial fighter. I think the first one makes more sense but It's your call. :) Let me know how your game goes and what becomes of him! Nice work. Also if you'd like to use my artwork for your character sheet that would be cool

Turns out stabbing people and reshelving can be the same thing, through the objective robot eye.

I'd like to be a warforged designed as an exo-suit for arcane casters played as a soulless AI. It could be messy though, and I'd absolutely respect any DM who said no. As far as RP goes, Data was my favorite character in Star Trek next gen, I was thinking the soulless AI would be fun to RP from the same sort of perspective as Data, the Android who does not feel but wants to understand feelings, with a lot of Jarvis' butler flavor added in. I could just be a warforged guardian, like a semi-sentient golem servant to the wizard, but it would be fun to really Iron man it too, where my wizard counterpart could jump into my Fighter specked armor to gain my AC and physical stats, but only one of us could move on a turn, and his spellcasting would be limited in some way, like maybe I'm only designed to be able to allow the projection of combat magic, or if that's not limited enough maybe only magic missile? or maybe fire magic? or force effect magic? IDK, I'd have to work it out with my wizard buddy, and I think we'd have to figure out how any damage we take is split, obviously I'd take the Lion's share, but he should take some bludgeoning damage as well. I like RP more than combat, so I wouldn't mind playing second fiddle during in game combat situations. It's a LOT of character agency to give up though, so I'd have to really know and trust whoever was going to play my Wizard, I'm NOT playing second fiddle to a Craig or Karen from r/rpghorrorstories!

A character build I thought about was a Warforged who is a Sorcerer: Draconic Bloodline...the twist...they have a Dracolich phylactery hidden inside them. The more draconic they become, the greater the phylactery's influence is over them. Making the urge to hunt/find an adult dragon to make a better host. The idea of a Draconic Warforged with necrotic energy seeping out of it sounds hella metal (sorry about the pun). The Warforged itself could have been "deactivated" and the Dracolich could have entrusted a worshipping Kobold to hind it's phylactery in a hurry...and it just hid it in an "empty suit of armor". The other group of heros could defeat the Dracolich but are in a hurry to find it's phylactery. They can interrogate the Kobold who goes to show them the "suit of armor" for it to be gone. These heros could be added in to the campaign and pop up from time to time and be "antagonists" to the group. Would be an interesting concept if worked out very well with the DM. Hope you have a blessed day.

In dnd 5th edition Eberron of course, I played a skirmisher type Warforged Rouge very reminiscent to General Grievous from the SW universe, just more feminine. Her Warforged number was 1777, but preferred the name Lilly after a certian someone called her that. I remember her story being that she was trapped in an underground dungeon for 4 thousand years without even seeing the war she was meant to fight in, (she was created around the same time the war ended) while the forge she was crafted in was sunken into the ground and into a hidden cavern where she remained. The party met her last, on a mission looking for rare ores and crafting blueprints from the Wizards who made the Warforged as too appease the Rebel group of killer machines for reasons unknown. Her looking like a female Grievous scared the crap out of the other party members after seeing Lilly, it was actually funny. There was a semi romance plot too, with Lilly and my friend's Human archer/ranger Dillin, with him teaching Lilly about life, emotions and eventually love. It was actually Dillin the gave 1777 the name Lilly cause he thought it was ironic for an innocent personality proficient in infiltration and assassination being named after a harmless flower, and that Lilly was easier then saying 1777 all the time.

Just made a warforged homebrew with my freind for their character, the build dumps constitution score and replaces it with the build score this is your hp based stat, instead of one pool of health you have two called energy which is essentially your battery charge d8 or d6 hit die this pool can be recovered by standard healing spells and works with short rest regeneration, the second pool is your build score, which is the one with the hp per level, this build score is either a d6 or d4. When you take damage depending on the dm's choice goes to one of the two pools of hp things like B,P and S damage can go to either, the system is more complex than that but that's the basics

I had a Warforged Monk Artificer that was into modifying his own body. And yes, it did get to the point where his whole body was Adamantine for the crazy AC/DR with spiked knuckles for bonus damage. The Artificer profession is what let him repair himself/heal, as well as, upgrade his body since regular armor wasn't an option and I didn't bother with weapons because as a monk, he was basically flash stepping across the battlefield pummelling things as a jet black adamantine killing machine with coal-fire red eyes. It was one of the very few times I found decent utility from Artificer.

I have a warforged juggernaut fighter who truly began as an emotionless robot who followed the group because it was designed to be a soldier who 'imprinted' on them upon reactivation, but acted purely out of logic and reason, unable to comprehend emotions and emotion-driven decisions. Through the campaign ol' A-9 gradually gained an understanding of emotion and empathy, as well as a gradual growing struggle with if it has a soul; if it's truly a person or not.The more A-9 grew as a person, the more it began making altercations and modifications to it's body to mimic the 'organics drive for individuality'. Boy was that a fun character.
@Rookzer03 жыл бұрын
Was it hard playing a character without empathy and emotion then transitioning to it? Any tips?
@ArtoriasB3 жыл бұрын
@@Rookzer0 Very hard, but that's what made it fun. My usual flavor of characters tend to be instinct and emotion driven, so this guy was the polar opposite. As for tips, I'd suggest not to have the transition immediate or quick. A-9 spent a good chunk in the begining as an emotionless husk and only began growing the first big twist. And even that it was a slow process. Rely on the characters and world around you to allow for the character to grow. Also learn from your party and from encounters. For example; when we had our first PC death, A-9 knew did not understand why the party was sad and angry, but began learning of grief from the party. The party was a major factor in A-9 learning and growing. You can easily use the kind of party you have to help mold what kind of emotions the character picks up. (Ex. This person has been terrorizing a village with an army of spiders, but they themselves were forced to do so under threat of their loved ones being killed and never wnated to hurt the village. The party sparing them can be a learning moment)
@ArtoriasB3 жыл бұрын
Adding to it; 9 did end up dying I think a little past halfways in the campaign. It was a very touching and sad demise with asking the cleric they had become very close with for comfort because they were scared. Would they go to an afterlife? Or would it be nothingness? They were artificial, so what awaited them on death? Then the party dismantled 9 and reforged his body parts into weapons and armor for the party to use. Recycling, yay! (9 then was replaced by an alcoholic Druid who has a talent for getting banned from taverns)

One of my first characters was a 1000 years old Juggernaut Warforged, devotion paladin of pelor who was a dragon born who died in a huge war in which a zombiefied Terrasque was involved (which, when it was killed, its rotting corpse caused the battlefield to get corrupted by necrotic magic, turning it into a pseudo-radioactive wasteland), 400 years after dying by a failed zombification spell, he had woken up as a 2.5m tall warforged, he took this as a second chance to do good and he decided to travel the world to avenge his comrades, maybe find his old home (which was razed by bandits) and to protect the weak. I've went ahead and made a warforged monk with the sole purpose of understanding the heart. His character is basically almost that of an automaton, it understands and can mimic basic traits but cannot understand it, in the end giving it a homebrewed "Ancient one" background to add some further details and to basically say he was a part of a monastary that attempted to take him into their fold but in the end encouraged him to go out into the greater world after it was apparent they could not give him the answers he seeks and he was in fact outliving most of his teachers (an interesting lesson in lifespans and death was learned). Then me and my dm decided to roll his background and it got me to roll my characters history and it got even more complicated from there XD My character is called Envoy and is the eldest of 5 other models all made in the ethereal plane, he was exiled from a land that no longer exists, he somehow got afflicted by a magical disease (cured now but is left with a persistent cough despite not having lungs and left a permanent corrosion on one of his arms). In attempts to gather information/ data samples he decided to keep with the most eccentric of people (adventurers and mercenaries) which has led to a numerous number of injuries and afflictions over time but one of the most noticeable is a slash across his face plate. In a futile attempt to lessen discomfort he resorted to crafting masks for personal use as well as to sell, (party have made jokes about my character turning into the fucking mask seller from majora's...). Leading to current day Envoy is now travelling with a small tiefling woman who he has decided to help in her own quest so that he may observe her ordeals and maybe accomplish his goal.

I had an idea for a Warforged Monk who multiclasses into Warlock. There are backstory reasons for Warlock, but theres also the Kraken patron and one of the invocations that makes Eldritch Blast pull enemies towards him. Now imagine that when i get to level 5 Monk, where I get two attacks? Move, Eldritch Blast, pull them closer and then melee strike. Now the lore reason for warlock is how unlike other Warforged, this one has a special gem as his core with the soul of a warlock who was about to transfer his soul into the robot but was shot in the head by an arrow. The soul transfer was complete but the arrow shot messed with his memories so he has no idea who he is or that he even knows magic. I was thinking of starting with Monk but after a couple of levels i would then put some levels into Warlock and then the patron, The Kraken, shows up. Recognizing who this Warforged is and would "unlock" the Warlock spells, powers, etc.

The first game I ever played my character was a humanoid construct, with synthetic skin and an uncanny face, who was a bard (though with a single level in rogue, that being my first level). We rolled stats, and I rolled very poorly. Basically I had decent dexterity, great charisma, but everything else was horrible. Being a construct helped cover some of my weaknesses, but for the most part I tried to avoid combat when I could using my charm and stealth, and acted as support from behind cover if I couldn't avoid it. My character backstory was that I was a construct commissioned by a long dead queen of an ancient civilization (think sort of like egypt), and was used as...well, in your words, a "pleasure model". After the kingdom was conquered and the queen driven out, I was left forgotten in the ruins of her palace, refusing to leave, believing she would return, until I was found by an adventuring archaeologist who told me just how much time had passed. Eventually my backstory would come back to haunt me, as it turned out the queen had become a lich, creating a bit of a conundrum as my character had to struggle between their programmed loyalty and their learned morals. My character would eventually die after seducing a dragon (my DM was clearly not amused by this), and I had to be rescued from hell when it was found that the recently slain lich had become an archdevil after death and had claimed my soul. All because I rolled 3 7s and a 9 on my ability scores.

@@Rookzer0 i had a few ways of utilizing and storing my aditional parts actually... see Lobo (the name he took for himself when he "woke up"..as he was not always a warforged,he lost all knowlege of his former life and set on a quest in search of the secret of his identity and his purpose)...was very inquisitive in his persuit of knowledge pertaining to magic,and learning about his unique state,as he was the only one of his kind in the game i was playing so he sot out ways to experiment with his capability,knowing that he was inorganic and that he did not poses the same limitations as other lifeforms...he persuid the life of an alchemist and an Artificer...in addtion he took up the profession of travelly trader..which came into great appeal for my party when i was lucky enough to stumble on some complex scrolls that each would summon an elder elemental one time...instead of conjuring them for combative purposes i did so while our party camped out with the sole reason of just talking with the creatures (i had learned that my character could speak the four elemental langueges,they were even etched into my body apon my creation)...so over a course of 4 nights a summoned them one by one,and struck a deal with each of them,entering a long standing contract of doing business with them,exchanging goods and going on quests,in return they would give or sell me magical reagents from thier realms...some of them very potent...one of the gifts the Jeweled earth elemental gave me was special bag of holding that could hold any object up to one size catagory larger than i was so long as it was Mineral based (stone or metal) and it weight would be non existant....i kept most of my body parts in there,i would later aquire a spell,what i referred too as the "Rubeto spell" that would allow me to transfer my own soul to another one of my spare bodies...in addtion i could modify my current body the old fashion way with simple tools do to the fact that my boy was articulate and segmented,i could detach limbs and body parts and replace them as easy as swapping out a piece of armor....i also got a nifty spell from that elemental that allowed me to change the metal of any small or smaller object into (almost) any other metal of my choosing. (it used to be ANY,but then i startet manipulating curancy,turning copper into platinum so the DM put a blocker on that...but that one time i got away with it,i turned all a Gnome's wealth in his shop to platinum...and he was so awed he became a permanent business and scientific partner for my persuits)... lol and all that was just what the earth elemental eventually gave me...as for the other 3,well..i dont wanna talk your ear off lol

I'm thinking about making a Warforged character in a Star Wars Pathfinder Campaign where he used to be a live Jedi during The Clone Wars, but was killed by Order 66, then some Imperial Scientists took his saber Crystal and used it to power up a droid. Don't know what droid to use, though.

My Warforged that was originally a Elder Air Elemental that was Tricked by a powerful Arch wizard, having his Heart stolen and then being place in a Warforged body as an advanced soldier built to fight a group of dragons. He and the three other Elder elemental Warforged were defeated, with the others managing the retreat from the battle. The dragons realised what he was and took pity, deconstructing his powerful augments and destroying the magical control link. Now he is seeking the wizard for revenge and to reclaim his True form, he also is repaying his debt to the Dragons. He is power by the heart that feeds elemental wind through metal veins around his body. Also a monk.

you know what would be cool? is if a warforged druid, an intelligent slime and a myconid colony combined to make the warforged a living thing. the myconid armor acts as a psychic bridge to connect the consciousness of the warforged the myconid and the slime, the slime could protect the myconid from taking sun damage, and they would still count as living construct. all three could take levels separately. I haven't played with a warforged yet, but I have an upcoming character that is a warforged! She's a kensei monk who was a quartermaster during the last war (or whatever war depending on the setting) and her quirk is that when she sees a unique weapon or one she hasn't seen for a while she'll start naming random facts about it. She became a kensei because she loves her weapons she's collected since the end of the war, and was very indecisive about which one to use haha. Anyways, I made art of her today! Oh, and her name is ghost because she rarely speaks except when asked about weapons. cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/430875028368916500/716138666145087540/Ghost.png
