@Wotanraven11 жыл бұрын
it's not an outdated view. it's still very much pertinent. My father is French, my mother is American, my step-father is British, and I work in tourism. I know all these cultures extremely well. French food has a good rep and deserves it. British and American food have a bad rep and deserve it, in comparison. That doesn't mean there aren't any great typically British meals. I absolutely love British breakfast and desert for example. Anyway, calm down. That's just how it is. Deal with it.

I agree on the kids in restaurants. People are so horrible about letting their kids to whatever the fuck they want. When I get the chance to go out the last thing I want are screaming acting badly kids. I also despise late people. My Ex and my Ex best friend are chronically late, I mean hours at a time late. Ugh if you are running late call the person. Especially now a days where everyone has a cell phone.

Children of what age? I completely agree, young children, shouldn't be allowed with their stupid screaming and everything, but what about my age? Another thing I despise is restaurants who do not provide the necessary cutlery, or napkins. Ridiculous!

"If I go into a restaurant and there's, that, when you walk in, about nine high-chairs, I go 'Are you expecting the cast of 'Time Bandits?' If not, I'm leaving". Brilliantly funny, why I like Ricky Gervais' humor so much, because he has this talent and wit to drop in odd references (like the movie "Time Bandits", worth its weight in gold BTW) into a casual conversation on the topic, and make the sarcasm work perfectly!

Children in restaurants, I totally agree with Ricky, no-one wants to hear stupid, laughing, screaming, crying kids in restaurants, they're places for adults to go when they want to get away from the kids. If restaurants were meant for children, they'd be made suitable for children. (Although I know people will say a lot of them are made suitable for kids, I'm merely saying that generally restaurants are mainly meant for adults, NOT kids).
@VitriolicDiatribe9 жыл бұрын
This may be a controversial opinion... but I think instead of a childless recreational habitat, restaurants are there for people to eat things in; and for the owners to decide whom to cater to. (It is not up to some random wanker to decide to universal purpose of someone else's business.) I think for the most part, the restaurants I've been to are meant for children as well, because they serve edible food. Children generally don't drop dead when they stab into a fillet mignon, and they can expect to have a nice carbonara without fear of it coming to life and strangling them to death. You wanna get away from kids, go to a swanky restaurant that has an age restriction; not write angry letters of complaint to the local Mcdonalds.

@royfr81366 жыл бұрын
when the guest was interesting it was good....More in depth...but when the guest wasn't it was 30 minutes of nothing....the new forat doesn't go into the reasons and personalities of the guests but at least when you have one or two guests that are shit...it's still OK.
@brianm28815 жыл бұрын
@@royfr8136 I'd take the occasional nothing guest in the single-guest format if you still get some great guests on from time to time. The problem with the new format is that it's the BBC making everything the same format. I'm not knocking the panel show format but I'm knocking the fact that it's overused and certain weaknesses of it become very apparent, e.g. it's all about one-liners and zingers rather than interesting conversations.
