Root Cause of Water Leakage in a Samsung Flexwash

I had the same problem. Yeah, I tried the hot water trick to "melt" the softener to clean out the dispenser...worked for a couple of cycles but didn't really fix the underlying problem which is that the dispenser either doesn't drain fast enough or fills too fast to drain. The basic problem is that the water softener dispenser overflows when water flushes the softener into the washtub. So I cut off about an eighth of an inch of the cylinder in the dispenser cup. That way the water level does not get as high before it drains into the tub. Haven't had an overflow or LC1 code since.

@Nick Marinos can you please clarify which part you modified? Do you mean the fixed nozzle onto which the cap fits? That I think would do what you suggest, make it start draining with a lower level in the dispenser reservoir, just want to be sure what you are describing

this is a easy fix... two things you can do. first is to pour white vinegar into that fabric dispenser to clear out the built up hardness of the dried up fabric softener this will work for 2 weeks and plug up again if you do not dilute fabric softener 50% with water it is just to thick... now what i have found on repair of many of these Top mini Flexwashers is there is a small screen type of scotch-brite type of sponge of material that gets plugged up and when computer tells solenoid to open the water inlet valve to let in a flow of water into the fabric dispenser to flush the softener it will over flow and that water will go to the bottom of the cabinet where there is 2 of these water detection sensors and it will shut down the unit from flooding out your home... now the 2 way to repair is easy to do just replace the screen in the bottom of the fabric dispenser hose that go's into the mini tub with the replacement screen plug looking divise which looks like a nickel yes it is just a little disc that stops the water from going back up the little hose that leads back into the fabric dispenser when the spin basket spins very fast this air flow will make water go up the feed hose and over flow into the softener dispenser,,, so this little disc is only $2 yes just two dollars is the replacement cost... i have done many of these... just unscrew like 25 little screws and open it up and replace that plugged up screen with a factory disc to stop water from going up into the softener holder and your done... so easy...

The bleach compartment has that little spongy disc like you mention, not the fabric softener side. The softener compartment also has its own water supply do diluting it should be be the issue. Also I’ve tried cleaning it (that’s what most of this video was about) and it drained fine while the drum was empty. And also, I’ve only ever had the leakage issue when I run the upper washer with clothes in it, never when we run it empty. I’ve done plenty of empty test loads on it since this leak issue first started popping up and not once did it leak while the machine was empty.

@@jarekwojdacz8982 part number DC6200702A... i have done many of these , you can google this part number. it is in the Fabric softener side the right side of the machine. it will over flow because the softener is way to thick and will turn into like a paste over time on that screen samsung has in line, so they came up with this disc to replace it ...

I don’t know if I’m right but other washers pour the fabric softener through the water outlet. Like the part that puts water in the machine. But this upper washer probably depends on getting the softener through the holes mabye to save some room idk I don’t know much about Samsung

The door seal is not the issue. It’s something with the softener dispenser

Our top section started leaking after the clothes ended up on one side during spin and it was unbalanced. (Never used softener in ours) I’m guessing it’s a drum seal of some kind.

This machine is so poorly built that there are probably multiple ways it would leak. Sorry to hear that it happened to you too.

The drain never fully drain all the water and also those drums have a saline solution to help balance the drum if you dont here the water slushing around than thats bad. Also the reason why it smells bad is too much detergent or softener

That's interesting. I know they use some sort of ball balancing system for the lower washer and I'd think they would do that for the upper washer too, but you could be right.

The problem is the fabric softener dispenser is a consistent problem/flaw... What happens is the diaphragm at the bottom of the dispenser underneath that regularly gets stuck due to the softener and doesn't allow it to open properly and let the water cycle through the dispencer into the tub... Solution is to replace that dispenser...

That makes sense. But the fact that it enters through the holes of the drum is still a major problem and a result of bad engineering.

@@FansOfGames You're on the right track even though there is of course a considerable gap between the actual inner basket and outertub you can say promotes an issue regardless, specially with the volume of water that's being supplied through the actual water supply valve and hose going to that dispenser.... If you like once we get to that repair and replacement of softener dispenser will get back to you on the results ? First and foremost would like to mention the fact that I used to actually work for Samsung as an appliance service technician. We do have our own Appliance and AC company ,so far though we actually haven't found any video on how to replace it, a simple tear down would be sufficient and I personally believe there was one a couple months ago here on KZbin . Just can't seem to actually have any luck in finding one now !!! 🤔🙄🤷🤦 Just like you commented on that video you made it's atrocious and amazingly bad design and engineering 👍 had way too fancy and aesthetically pleasing but when it comes down to the actuality of performance horrific !!! "Way too fancy, my opinion" just keep it simple in whatever it is you manufacture. Take performance under consideration #1, which Samsung never does obviously !!!

Very weird design fault btw the water in the drum is very normal as water still sits in the outer tub and what I would recommend it because you only put a couple of towels in it made it unbalanced and with other clothes in the drum it would make it not stick to the sides

I don’t think there is one, since the problem just seems to come down to really bad engineering of the machine. My only advice would be to run it with very minimal amounts of clothing (like maybe 2 garments tops) and not to use softener to reduce the risk of clogging, but that basically makes the upper washer useless, so I don’t know. The best solution would probably be to not use the upper washer and just use the lower washer.

I don’t know, mine was working again recently and just yesterday started overflowing. I don’t understand it. My guess is just bad engineering. I don’t know what else it could be.

@@FansOfGames there’s a Samsung forum post that says there is a piece of foam inside that gets clogged. I’m going to suspect mine is clogged with dog hair. Apparently Samsung has replaced the part with a less clogged version, but you can’t buy it separate; they only sell the entire assembly. I’ve watched the licensed repair man open mine up three times over the four years I’ve had it (unrelated) and opening the top was not difficult. I think I’m about to just lift it and find the foam. I tried vinegar the other day and thought it worked. I put hot water in it just now and it did nothing. The hole in the middle you can see is like the overflow hole. There is a separate hole for operation somewhere out of sight.

now if you have water in the machine the next day ??? it is the water fill valve leaking into the machine over night,,, it is on high presser from the wall valve all the time, so change it out on the machine, no big deal... now to test the leaking into the machine over night, just turn off the water at the wall supply Hello so easy just think about it. turn off the presser that is leaking by the fill valves on the machine into the tub... i see this every week, these valves get minerals in the water that build up over time and valves will not close all the way...

That’s not the issue in my case. If you paid attention to the first 15 seconds or so of the video, you’ll notice where the leak is coming from, and that it only happens when the machine is running, not when it’s off. So the water valve is not the issue in this case. There is a clog somewhere in the upper washer softener compartment that’s causing this issue in my case.

We were supposed to go out to do this for a customer she never got around to doing so but what we were informed of is that the customer ran excessively hot water through the dispenser and that actually freed it and started working properly again, just a thought maybe you'd want to give that a shot prior to doing the replacement of the dispenser cuz honestly there was a video out on it but I have no idea where it went I think they pulled it or it disappeared from the platform here on KZbin

The little rubber diaphragm that's inside the dispenser harden's or gets soft and stuck not allowing the water to flow through hence overflowing the dispenser
