Malachi Kirby put on an excellent performance, like seriously. He moved me to tears several times throughout the series. I hope to see him do big drama roles in the future. Rege was really good too, and he showed a lot of range. This was a brilliant remake.

Malachi was the breakout star for me in this film. He has such a huge burden on his shoulders, being a relatively unknown actor in the states, and taking on such an iconic role. He really delivered. This takes nothing away from Rege, because he too was amazing and captivating, but I found myself actually missing Kunta when he was no longer on screen to the point where I was excited to see him again as his spirit guiding Tom to George in part 4.

I loved both, they both brought something different. For me, Rege stole the show though. His performance stayed with me for weeks, but Malachi has a quiet soulfulness and strength I appreciate.

I love Malachi's spirituality & "Know that our history does not begin at slavery. Be proud of your ancestory. Don't think that it's a negative thing to be African. It's a beautiful thing. A positive thing. Those people who were enslaved were not weak. So it's nothing to be ashamed of. Those were strong people. If they weren't they wouldn't have been slaves. They woulda just been killed. They were taken because they were so strong. And they survived." --Malachi Kirby "Preach!" --Rege-Jean Kirby Erica looks so pretty! :) All of them were excellent and I thought Malachi did a spectacular job as Kunta Kinte and I'd like to see them all get more QUALITY work. I want to see Rege in more romantic/leading roles! ;)

As an African born and bred Malachis splew brings me to tears. Such respect my goodness. And Rege touching on it truly as an African that’s how we feel and for Malachi to mention and speak of our being my goodness that is such a respectful and heartfelt wisdom so thank you. Born in a country which was one of the biggest slave trade ports oh we do have a history, slavery is not our history we had and have history before that ... oh! Haven’t seen the remake but I remember the first make being played on tv as a child and it really terrified me my goodness ... thank you

@@karenrenfordno it's not a silly response. I was pointing out that the comment arose from a profound and sadly, unabashed ignorant perspective that considers the American accent to be the default and the rest of the world somehow have the accent. The English accent came first.

Rege’ is undisputedly one of the most BRILLIANT ACTORS of his generation. Without a doubt…it’s unfortunate yet a tremendous blessing that Bridgerton/Shondaland gave him the ATTENTION that was somehow buried most likely in his roles as American and his American accent. I have watched everything that he starred in. And he has been A-Mazing. God bless Rege’. The rest of the cast were brilliant and we know them. And now we KNOW Rege’! Thank you Shonda❣️
