A year ago I let my RN license expire after 15 years. The past 3 years has really highlighted the problems with our current healthcare that is being pushed, but honestly- it’s been a problem for years. We are being fed lie after lie about what we need t9 do to be “healthy”. Seeing regular people take control and then present their doctors with what they did is going to be what makes changes. And look at you - you have over half a million subscribers- that’s a HUGE platform to help others. Glory to God - he’s behind all of this!

My daddy, who passed away at 88 this past October, found so many answers, especially regarding insulin resistance. His doctors just argued and treated him like a fool. It is very frustrating, he had time on his hands and just read, and read, and read. I expect he knew more about thyroid function, heart health, and metabolism than all of his doctors combined. Western medicine has its usefulness, but loss of respect for the patient is a HUGE problem with many providers. I am also a former RN.

I also started seeing a functional medicine doctor in November and found out I have an autoimmune disease. The tests indicted Lupus. The doctor I went to said they’ve noticed an increase in autoimmunity ever since the pandemic. I did AIP/supplements/essential oils/topical magnesium/a whole lotta prayer plus I got my IUD taken out, quit smoking and weaned myself off my antidepressants, and I’m feeling so much better physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Like, it’s wild. Hallelujah to the healer❤️

It’s interesting to hear a doc told you that. My 14 year old became very very sick a year ago. They think she has mixed connective tissue disease and other tests are starting to indicate she’s developing lupus too. Her body is attacking itself. She went to school one day fine and healthy and as we picked her up from school a switch flipped and she’s never been the same since. I am desperate to help her at this point.

I'm 78 and had struggled with arthritis for years and 5 years ago decided to jump start a diet by going plant based for the month of January. I cut out all meat, dairy, oil and sugar and within 7 days I had almost NO arthritis pain and my knees were bone on bone! I decided then that there was no food on the planet that was worth me being in that much pain and have remained plant based since then. I feel better than I did 30 years ago and have more energy! I totally understand how you love feeling so much better! I know what I did and what you did may not work for everyone because each of us have different health issues.... but congratulations and thanks for sharing because you have a large audience and I'm sure many will be encouraged and helped by hearing what you said today!

I lost 82 pounds, reversed more than 4 years of infertility (expecting my third now!), and overcame anxiety, major depression, alcoholism, and food addiction by going whole foods plant based (no meat, dairy, sugar, oil, or ultra-processed foods). Added in lots of fruits and vegetables (cooked or raw). Cutting out processed foods is huge even if someone isn't willing to cut out meat or dairy.

@ PDS8220 Your pain is gone because protein causes pain and you did what everyone should do- especially those who live with pain -give up the animal protein (which is also loaded with fat). All the protein we need, which is very little, is contained within fruit and veg. There is also minimal protein in human mother's milk. Besides, Nature provided food for each specific species to be eaten in its natural state. Carnivores kill and eat meat raw. Frugivores like humans and Gorillas with identical GI tracts, have luscious raw ripe fruit and tender greens we can eat without processing (or cooking) to make edible or appetizing in any way. The idea of killing an animal by biting into it and then eating it isn't appetizing to any human. The people who live the longest into their 150s and longer eat this way - mostly raw, mostly fruit and mostly plant based with very little protein or fat. John Robbins in his book HEALTHY AT 100 goes into detail about these people who have been living this way for hundreds if not thousands of years. They never experience any chronic or degenerative disease either - never a case of cancer, diabetes or heart disease - ever.

Inflammation crippled me in my 30's to the point I could not wear a coat in 10° weather because I could not move my arms enough to put one on. After so many years of doctors telling you there's nothing wrong with you, you're just depressed, I also just accepted it as part of getting older. An allergy elimination diet saved my life, and when I stick to my limitations, I can be free from pain. Videos like this are incredibly helpful if for no other reason than to realize we are not alone.

Thank you for sharing your trials. I am 63 years old and was always in pain. 90 days ago I started carnivore and within a few weeks all the pain was gone. I am struggling with the passion that I have for my vegetable garden. I live on one acre, I had started a food forest in 2019 and I raise 6 hens for eggs and meat birds for the freezer. I have decided this year to grow food to freeze dry for the future, grow food for my chickens and for our local food pantry. I have also noticed that wart like growths that I had spreading all over my back and onto my torso for the past 16 years have started falling off! It is so important for you to share these struggles and healing for others to learn that there may be ways to help that may seem very radical but are healthy. God bless you and keep you close to His heart.

It's amazing how we don't even recognize how much pain we're in, because I've been going through a similar healing journey the last few months. First two years back in my rural home town in an RV that turned out to have black mold inside the walls... and I had just chalked up my respiratory symptoms to allergies because my body just wasn't used to all of the pollen and everything in the country anymore. Then just found out recently that we had a faulty water filter and I've literally been megadosing on manganese from our well for the past 3 years, which was causing balance and speech issues and all kinds of other things. And that was all on top of being extremely food insecure for the past three years and amassing all kinds of nutrient deficiencies because I lost my job and car during the pandemic and could no longer even get into town to buy groceries, even if I'd had the money. Ended up getting low in B12, vitamin D, vitamin C, iodine, and who knows what else. The nutrient deficiencies were literally driving me crazy. I didn't even recognize my own mind anymore. It was like I was a passenger and something else was in control. I was irritable, and aggressive, and delusional, and had massive mood swings. I couldn't be around people in person or even interact with people online, because it took almost nothing to set me off. And I was pushing my body so hard to produce food on badly degraded land with no resources. Just trying to survive and facing crop failure after crop failure... all of the logging in the area caused the deer, rabbit and other herbivore populations to explode, so I was competing with them for food, including the stuff from my garden... and couldn't even find weeds to forage because of the intense herbivore pressure. All of that in addition to experiencing the worst weather conditions I've ever experienced here in 35 years. Temps nearing 120 for a week at a time. 180 consecutive days without rain during the growing season when we didn't have the infrastructure to irrigate. Et cetera. Then add all kinds of inflammation and autoimmune stuff on top of that because most of the calories I was getting was from the cheapest things I could get my hands on in bulk. Lots of sugar. Lots of oil. Not a lot of real food... real food that I had expected to be able to get from my garden. It finally came to a head late last year after I got covid and just never really bounced back and then the amount of painkillers I was taking just to be functional started destroying my stomach. I had to stop taking them and just sit with the pain. It's the first time I realized how much pain I was actually in, and for how long I'd been in that much pain. There were days I couldn't get out of bed. I knew it couldn't continue. I couldn't live like that. Started out with just some extended fasting to get back to a baseline I could build up from. Then I knew I had to start rebuilding myself with all of the nutrients I hadn't been getting since the start of the pandemic. I got help with groceries from a friend and started tracking everything I put in my body and made sure that every day I was hitting at least my RDA for every vitamin and mineral, if not 2 or 3 times that amount, just to rebuild. Lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and nuts and seeds. No oil, no sugar, no salt, no processed grains, no animal products, no preservatives, emulsifiers, stabilizers, or other unpronounceable chemicals. I started tracking my sun exposure to see how much vitamin D I was actually getting, and when I realized it wasn't enough (because I always tried to get out and get my work done before the hottest part of the day... which was apparently too early to produce any real amount of Vitamin D this far north), I started taking a high potency supplement to restore my levels. Basically, getting better became my full time job. And all of that helped me improve a lot, including helping me lose 30 pounds. But the manganese poisoning from our well water was the nail in the coffin that I just hadn't figured out yet. I don't remember how I stumbled across manganese poisoning, but once I started researching it I realized that all of the symptoms fit... and I knew that our unfiltered well water was extremely high in manganese. Then I tested the water filter and discovered that it indeed wasn't working. Stopped using the well water for cooking and drinking and began hauling water in from our nearest neighbor and started to feel better immediately. Started researching manganese poisoning more and figured out that a lot of the foods I'd been having intense cravings for were actually on the list of things that help draw excessive manganese out of the tissues so the body can eliminate it, but I'd been putting so much into my body for so long that it just wasn't enough. This past week I started treatment for manganese poisoning and felt better still. But two or three days into treatment I woke up in the middle of the night and just started crying because for the first time in almost 3 years I finally felt like my mind was my own and there wasn't someone else in the driver's seat. My pain still isn't 100% every day, but at least now it's always because I push myself too hard instead of just because I exist. I'm losing weight easily now and I expect joint pain to continue to get better and better as I shed the excess pounds. And since the autoimmune stuff and weight gain started before I was a teenager, I now find myself randomly smiling more than I can ever remember smiling at any point in my life. I'm sad that it took so long and that I had to endure so much pain and heartache, but it feels so good to be on the path to freedom.

Because this is the comment at the top I'm going to leave this info here. Sally K Norton is someone everyone should search on KZbin and watch a few of her interviews. OXALATES are the cause of so many issues and people have no idea! I was eating a diet of what I thought was super healthy for 15 years until I lost my gallbladder a year ago. After that I started researching why I would have lost my gallbladder from eating so healthy and I came across Sally's videos. For 13 of those 15 years I was suffering with horrific back spasms and blood vessels in my fingers and toes breaking leaving them black and blue. I had a list of other issues. So many of us are eating foods high in oxalates and have no clue what they do to us. To give you an idea of how many people have this issue I was in a low oxalate FB group of over 50,000 people! Most doctors will only talk about oxalates when referring to kidney issues. It's just not true!! I'm now eating mostly meat, eggs, some dairy, blueberries and banana. It will be a year in May since I started lowering oxalates and eating meat. Feeling a whole lot better!

Thank you for this beautiful, honest, and transparent look into your journey! I am 76 years old, an old time homesteader from the early 1970's, was vegan for 21 years when I was younger, eating only organic food we grew ourselves and harvested/traded with local farmers. Much as I thought our careful, unprocessed, vegetable focused diet was the way to perfect health, it was not for me. I also had constant pain, gained weight on few calories, and was not in great health despite exercising constantly. Once I listened to my body and my great advisors, I started eating fish and meat, took out all of the grains, dairy, and carbs, I lost weight and regained my energy. It's all about listening to your body and doing what works!

I am SO very happy for you! I started meat-heavy keto (plenty of animal-based protein, and leafy veggies only) in October of 2016. After only 3 days of eating this way, I woke up in a completely different body. I was 47 years old, and ran down the steps in the morning like a little kid. Before that, my ankles and knees hurt so badly in the morning that I had to brace myself on the sides of the stairway for fear of falling down the steps. I literally felt like I was 80 years old. I knew that I would never go back to eating the way I had been. I lost 50 pounds in just a few months, and have kept it off since then. Like you, I didn't realize how much pain I was in until it was gone. I made a promise to myself that I would never do that to myself ever again. So, now I'm 54 years old, am fit, pain-free, get to eat delicious, healthy food, and enjoy my life every single day! God is good, and I thank Him every day for creating this life for me. As a long time fan/viewer, and also a mother who started studying mycology and then became an herbalist due to the desire to heal my own autoimmune health issues, I salute you, Jess!! You continue to show up so genuinely for yourself and this community in such a powerful way. We love to see it!! Eliminating grains and most veggies, and upping my animal fats/meats/organs drastically changed my health. Thank you so much for your beautiful testimony to the power of the proper human diet. 💗💪🏼🙏🏼

As a functional fitness coach and exercise therapist, I totally understand your journey. On a personal note, I was 200lbs, in pain, vertigo, anxiety, and depression, as well as a care giver to my husband, my life overtook me, in desperation I took the all or nothing path with carnivore. It saved my life. The weight loss was not my intention, feeling alive again was. God bless you and all you do. Aloha🌺💕🌤️🏝️

I had arthritis so painful I would wake up crying just to roll over. I gave up gluten and within 10 days I had no more joint pain and have been basically joint pain free for several years now. I am amazed that modern medicine is so slanted to medicine that it took listening to functional practitioners to find my relief and yours as well. I am so glad that you are feeling better!!

Wow I sympathize immensely. As a child I had chronic UTIs, to the point where my mom thought I got my period incredibly young because I was peeing blood. Holistic methods helped keep things away for a period of time, but as a young teen I got one so bad that it started to spread to my kidneys and I nearly died. I had a fever of 107.3, I was hallucinating and couldn't speak. I was in the hospital for 5 days and have memory of only 2. My memory was wrecked for a long while after that, from the fever and antibiotics. My mom brewed kombucha decades before it was cool and she started making it for me again, and the first time I drank it I felt it in my kidneys and had a panic attack from the UTI PTSD. I've read studies about specific probiotics helping with UTIs and many other things, and they are in kombucha. L.reuteri and L.rhamnosous (spelling may be wrong) and as long as I've either taken those or drank kombucha, along with eating mostly paleo and often fully keto/carnivore, I've kept them away for 15 years. Watching you retell this made me cry because I know that pain and fear of the pain. I'm so glad you've felt some relief and hope it continues. Sending love from Florida, thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you. Chronic health problems are a frog in the stewpot situation, many times, especially if you are a person who justs adapts and keeps pushing on, regardless of pain. And then suddenly you look up and your whole life is built around adapting to whatever your issues are, and it's at a ridiculous point and totally non-functional. I have gone through a year of that, starting with getting seriously sick last summer, and am just now starting to feel like I am seeing some progress toward health again. Chronic pain and dysfuntion are life-changing. It's been a real turning point for me, and as I come to grips with healing and restoring my daily life to function it's made me much more appreciative of small things, like the goal of just getting up and walking across the room without a lot of preparation and stops and starts. I had a healthy life and diet before this; I'm working with that now to be even better, gradually adding foods and activities back in and being responsive to how they change my overall state of health. I'm learning patience and gratitude. I'm learning to accept help when needed. It's true in health as in business, that the only person who really can take proper care of your own interests is you. Though others may be helpful, in the end, you have to listen to your body and do what is necessary, even if it seems weird or inconvenient, or is different from the way you always did it or assumed it ought to be done. I'm glad you are finding a way forward. It's affirming for others on similar journeys to share progress, as hope is a fragile but necessary ingredient for healing. Never give up!

Gosh Jess, this has been the thing I really needed today. I lost my 15 year engineering career two years ago because of the progressive inflammation in my hands, wrists and elbows. I've been so terrified of losing my new job that I havent told anyone my daily chronic pain, I've just been bullheading my way through, locked in survival mode, taking painkillers and spiralling mentally. Well meaning friends have smothered me with this diet, this shake, this guru, this tiktok etc etc. I've consistently failed at the AIP even though I started feeling better after a few days, I don't know why. You've given me some hope with a large, fresh, inhale of breath that may be I don't have to be this way and a direction to research into . Much love x

Jess, I bless YOU for sharing your story. I’ve been in chronic pain and chronic extreme muscle tension for over 20 years. I’ve been feeling the nudge to focus on my health bc I’m struggling in the garden and with everyday chores. You talked about thinking maybe this is just what it feels like to be almost 40… I’m almost 52 and have thought well, this is the 30s, 40s, 50. I got teary-eyed listening to your journey. Found your videos in Fall 2021. They gave me courage to start my suburban backyard garden and composting in Spring 2022. I feel like my health issues are an autoimmune condition. I have PCOS and just found medical articles saying some researchers are starting to think it’s an autoimmune issue. My sister has lost so much hair and had constant stomach issues until she had to go on restricted diet to keep from going bald. I think there’s something to all of this. Let’s claim 2023 for getting to the foundations of good health, not covering up the symptoms, and having life more abundant. Ty again

Like you I have struggled with major gastro issues for almost 20 years and I'm living a life of intense inflammation. Could you possibly share Some of the alternatives that you've been Trying? Meat gets a little boring after a while even though I know it is helping. Can you eat eggs? I cannot. I've heard that duck eggs are better do you have any input on that? So powerful. I very much identify with so much of this. Not comparing or saying it’s exactly the same though. Grew up with chronic bladder infections through high school- went through all the traumatic procedures. A boat load of antibiotics. From there I didn’t deal with that anymore but spent the rest of my life… depressed, anxious and terribly tired. I started working with a Nutritional Therapist Practitioner a year ago. After a year of hard work things slowly and dramatically changed. Literally did not know this is how normal people should feel, did not know how terrible I was actually feeling. It’s life changing and it’s also something to mourn. I feel like I’ve lost so much life. But looking to the future as well. Hard for me as well because there isn’t one thing that made me better. After being misdiagnosed several times, with interstitial cystitis, among other things, I found I had pelvic floor dysfunction. No thanks to modern medicine/ doctors. I'll be the first to say, you have to be your biggest resource. No one knows you better than you. Through hundreds of hours of research, I have learned that stress was a HUGE trigger. I've learned to find solitude through gardening, and natural remedies like stretching and allowing yourself to have time to decompress and take a moment, has been my biggest healing help. I've never taken supplements, and I've had 6 kids and just turned 40. So many people advocated for vaccines and voted these people into play that, at one point, you couldn't heal yourself or refuse treatment of their experiments. Hi Jess, I'm so happy to hear that you found a solution that is working for you. I started the Carnivore/Keto diet to help with some onset of arthritis in my knees and feet as well as weighloss. My thoughts were that my weight was contributing to the pain but then a doctor confirmed I had arthritic inflamation in my feet. I went to my chiropractor who confirmed my history of diet has lent to systemic inflamation. I had my doubts about the carno/keto diet but the results are amazing. My joints feel so much better and I've dropped 15lbs in the first 5 weeks. I think one of the weirdest things about the Carnivore diet are people's reactions to hearing you're eating nothing but meat and fat. But the results are so worth the journey with this eating style.

I chalked it up to turning 41 and postpartum recovery or "I must have gotten into something when I was harvesting in the garden". After starting my own carnivore journey a few weeks ago, I already feel different. The lower back and hip ache while simply lying in bed are gone. The sensitivity of my skin in the areas where my rash had been more severe is gone. There are no new outbreaks. I can hoist myself up into the tailgate of our truck again whereas I could not lift my leg due to hip pain previously. I, too, have shed tears of devastation that I had allowed myself to suffer and power through. The marked difference in just short amount of time is astounding, and I am forever thankful for your message. I will continue to pray and praise for your healing and mine. Looking forward to what this summer holds! ❤

There are many of us who have struggled with autoimmune issues and been in severe pain for years, just wishing we could find someone who could help us. I'm a medically disabled critical care RN and started learning about functional/integrative medicine and nutrition several years ago. I've tried finding a practitioner I could see because I knew a better diet would be helpful. I'm medically treated for rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, diabetes type 2, Feltys Syndrome, osteoporosis, latex allergy, as well as numerous environmental allergies and food sensitivities. Being on so many medications, I'm unable to take some supplements because they affect my health (my platelets run low from Feltys Syndrome and take sulfasalazine - tumeric causes my platelets to drop further and causes an increase in bruising). I need a functional/integrative medicine physician to help me get off conventional meds and transition to healthy/real herbs and supplements. Unfortunately, insurance doesn't cover these providers and I'm on disability and Medicare (totally unable to pay the expensive fees for naturopathic/functional/integrative medicine providers). I have been in excruciating pain for well over ten years, and now the only treatment I'm given is opioids (NOT what I would prefer, but if I don't take it, I literally cannot move. I get so uncomfortable I cannot sit, stand, or lie down for more than 5 minutes at a time without having to reposition. It doesn't take long to slide into deep depression and desperation). There needs to be a way for all people to see real, natural medicine providers rather than be stuck in a corrupted medical system that only pushes chemical remedies for symptomatic relief. I am so glad you are in the functional medicine area and are helping people who can really benefit from the education and information you're able to provide. God bless you.

I’m in school right now to become a holistic nutritionist, registered herbalist, and wellness coach because our healthcare system is so broken and just can’t treat chronic illnesses correctly at all. I’ll be able to start practicing at the end of this spring semester and I’m so excited to be able to start helping people. I went to school initially because of my own health problems and my inability to afford access to holistic practitioners since insurance won’t cover them. So I’m my own most challenging client 😅 But now I’m so looking forward to getting to help people who so desperately need it! I’m so sorry you have had to endure these issues but I’m also so thankful for all you’ve learned and your ability to share that with others so they will be encouraged to find a functional/holistic practitioner and get to the root causes of their health issues.

God's blessings on your new path of holistic health and learning. At almost 77 I've been working on my health issues by turning to mostly organic foods, eliminating all pre packaged foods and artificial additives. I lost 20 pounds just eliminating artificial sugars in "diet" water additives for flavor. Learned when your body doesn't know what to do with something it stores it in fat! Eliminating it eliminated the need to store it so my body "eliminated" it. Eating real foods did the rest. Still have health issues but not quite as bad. Prayers as you learn, for your first patient, you, and all those you will help.

I started following last year when we had our first garden and think its crazy you are talking about this now. My husband and I started ketovore a little over a month ago to try to deal with his severe acid reflux. The eat mostly meat, and some cheese, and almost all the carbs we take in are from low inflammation vegetables. It had been amazing. I felt the same way thinking this is just how my body was going to feel at almost 40 and it was overwhelming when you realize it's not. Eating out is the hardest part but we eat so good at home we don't miss the things we can't have. I've lost 13 lbs and am now under my original goal weight and he has lost 15. I have been following Dr Berry and neisha and the PHD (proper human diet). I can't get over how it makes us feel. Good luck on your healthy eating journey!

This video hit home so much! I am actually going through something similar (unknown health issues and reactions) and also ended up unintentionally eating more of a carnivore diet. We have been living in high stress and crisis mode for the last year, trying to get help for my son who has high needs…. It took a toll on my health, and I had food allergy testing done. I already have celiac disease and eat gluten free, but I found out I was reacting to 59 out of 90 foods! Most of those were fruits and veggies (which of course is the worst feeling since we have a big garden) but I also have started seeing similar relief and results in eating mostly proteins and cutting out the same things you have listed. It was such a surprise as well. Crazy that I also started in November and am down 20lbs. I have all the feels and can relate. I am always so thankful when you share things that relate to so many others, such an encouragement to see people come together to get answers, just like Sow the Land did for you. Praying for continued answers.

@@rachelhenderson3275 It's not just the system in the USA. I'm in the UK so don't have ti worry about paying fir medical as I have the NHS. Doctors the world over send you for tests and when they comes back negative tell you your wrong about how you feel or how much pain your in. Even though you know something is wrong and spend your days and or night crying in pain that painkillers don't work for. I feel if a doctor can't throw a pill at something to "fix" it then they give up. A good amount of them don't like or understand natural remedies so try to stop you going that route. But what else are we to do when conventional medicine doesn't work we have to do our own research? Some are not going to be able to live a fully pain free life but if a diet or natural remedies will work I feel we have no other option.

I'm happy for you about reclaiming your health after so many health issues. Hearing your story helps me feeling like I'm not alone in the chronic illness journey. Mine started 16 years ago as food poisoning. Things went slowly that first year, I was still strong at that point but got lactose intolerant and horrific stomach aches and started getting more tired than usual. Had a traumatic first year of college. At the 14 year mark things really started getting crazy, one thing after another in a downward spiral of unwellness. I've been struggling ever since to get my life in order. Plus, I've been a caregiver for my parents for 7 of those chronically ill years and taking care of them was a top priority and my own health was on the back burner but I'm working on prioritizing myself. But it's only been easier to take better care of myself simply because my mom passed away 2 years ago.

I am in Awe of you! Thank you for sharing your story. I know how hard it is to share this with the world. But I can already tell by the comments that you have helped so many people. I quit gluten about 13 years ago. I was so sick that I felt I could just drop dead at any moment. Every step I took was a chore. I was only 40, but felt like I was 80. My arms and legs felt numb and every time I ate I would feel dizzy. It was crazy. I had seen a video and decided to take gluten out. Within a week I felt so much better. Now, because of this video I will take out sugar and all the bad stuff. I get super sick if I accidentally get glutened. Eating out and family functions was the hardest. I felt like a freak. But after a bit, I learned to eat before going or take my own food. I can't stand to be sick so I have never ate it again. Gluten free foods are super weird. Breads etc.. But I do eat them on occasion just to feel somewhat normal. I would rather feel deprived than sick and achy. It's not a diet for me. It's a lifestyle. Again. Thank you!!

It’s interesting that I’ve heard from many women “of a certain age” who start feeling this way (sadly, I include myself in that group). One thing they have in common is they cut out sugar and bread and some dairy products and started feeling better. All foods they once ate with ease now seem to have the opposite effect. It makes me wonder if it’s all linked… our food sources, female hormones as we age, etc. All that said, I hope you find what’s causing your issues and are able to feel better. Hang in there!

I found that gluten, grains, dairy, and some beans were my triggers. Dealing with the diet change was hard enough, but then the fact that my doctors told me they would not even see me if I didn’t take their medicines, I had a HARD time! No one in my “circle” thought I should do it my way! They thought I should just go to the doctor and take more medicine! Well, here I am, 10 years later, and just recently I have been able to add most things back into my diet! My autoimmune disease has not been present in quite some time! In fact, the last time it was was because I had an infection and I took an antibiotic even though I knew that I shouldn’t! Keep doing what works for you!!! I’m so excited for you!

Jess, thank you so much for sharing your health journey! I grew up with chronic UTIs and have been struggling with awful inflammation and joint pain since I got Lyme disease 13 years ago. I'm amazed at your strength and am so glad you're feeling better. I've watched your channel for years, and to be honest, I thought, 'she must have no pain to be doing all that she does'. Just goes to show how invisible pain can be and that we don't realize what people may be pushing through in order to do what they love or what needs to be done. I've dabbled in avoiding gluten and sugar and it did seem to help some, but I've been inconsistent and never wanted to give up dairy. But what you've shared here is really inspiring me to commit to it and see how it feels. And of course I'm always inspired by your garden and your straight forward and honest style of teaching and everything I've learned from you. I'm in NC and my aunt (also a fan of yours) and I can't wait to come see your store and coffee shop and hopefully attend a class! Sending you and your family much love!

I can understand the maddening itching very well. I had a childhood marred by liver issues and would scratch myself bloody from the maddening intensity of the itching. Oatmeal baths didn’t help, but thankfully I didn’t have a rash. Last time I was sick was in my twenties and it started with my hands and feet. To this day I have this moment of panic if my hands or feet itch.

I have Celic Disease and was diagnosed later in my life and I 100% agree with you that making such a drastic dietary change is extremely difficult. But when you get to a point of experiencing that pain and then the relief of pain and what it is like to live without pain, changes your perspective on “what matters”. Gluten free cooking with minimal inflammatory foods is difficult but I do promise, the food does get better lol. I am so glad you have experienced relief. ❤
