I’m not talking about the common let’s do one show about disabled gardening. That’s what the people too busy being able bodied gardeners do. I’m talking about a weekly series by disabled gardeners. Not how to build a raised bed for someone in a wheel chair. A show that shows the JOY of the experience for gardeners with limitations. You know, the forgotten gardeners. The ones that most people are too busy to spend day after day season after season seeing then doing gardening.

I am a disabled gardener. I keep saying I don't think I can do this next year but I do. I get between nothing and 2 to 3 hours spaced out through the day. Spring is the hardest with so much to get done. My garden is a bit unconventional, vegetables and flowers planted together. I am trying fabric pots this year. If you are a gardener a disability does not stop you even if it's just gardening in pots on the deck. I would love to see how others handle it throughout the season.
@paulhanson7329

I too am disabled. I would watch a show that included wounded warriors and a buddy gardening together or grandparent and grand child gardening or nursing home gardening. Someone should make an elastic headband with a small laser to let a severely disabled person point to the weed they want pulled or the tomato to pick. Sometimes an abled body person is needed to help but there is honor and joy gardening with a friend that is disabled. I think.

Wow this video is beautiful. Jess' experience mirrors mine, and is the exact reason I started making content also... to show people the better way. I had a similar experience waking up to abundance in life - being like a kid in a zoo just walking around looking at all the interactions. I cannot imagine growing food in a sterile environment. You cannot experience what I experience every morning on my coffee walk-around my food forest, and then not be changed forever.

Blessing on you, friend ~ sounds like you’re following your heart. ❤️ I personally cannot support Justin in any way. He has made decisions based on wealth for a while now. Not that he should remain “poor”, but it matters to remain relatable to your viewers. I’m the beginning, I loved Art and Bri’s channel because he worked as a nurse and homesteaded. So very relatable. I then unfollowed them when he quit working and their content was mostly click bait, I just cannot watch the hardship they curate for a few more followers. I am almost 50 and do everything each of you do every single day with six children and a mortgage, sheep/dairy goats/cows/pigs/chicken/garden/farmers market and I homestead sustainably/regeneratively because I love it and believe it matters. Too, I am blessed with a man who works off the farm so we can pursue this dream, like most every one of homestead channel followers. I don’t KZbin because it would take away from all that I do here on the farm, but what I have loved about your channel is the relatability. If folks out here cannot connect with someone they consider a teacher in their lives regarding homesteading they will be consistently discouraged and eventually give up. And that just makes me super sad. So for what it’s worth, I’m cheering that you’ll swim upstream from all of the other homesteaders joining Justin’s network. Be the one who stays relatable to the common man/woman.

Bless your heart, Ami Burr ❤ You sound like you are one blessed, hardworking woman. I live a life similar to yours. We live on a farm/homestead and my husband works full time plus hours off the farm. At 61 years of age I take care of the life around the farm and home, working full time + hours . I am a farmer. We have Gardens, salvaged greenhouses, cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks and horses . I have been an heirloom plant gardener and seed saver for 36 years now and have always strived to garden organically. We have several orchards also . We love living a simple, sustainable as possible life. I love the old ways. My husband will help with evening chores and on weekends when he does not work off the farm. Our children are grown and we have 4 young grandchildren who love visiting our farm and helping grandma and grandpa do chores. It is a hard life at times but it is a blessed life full of God's goodness. God bless

Jess and Miah, I am compelled to catch and learn from each of your videos. I appreciate your warmth, passion, and spirit. I’ve not experienced anything of the same with Justin’s channel. It is not that I dislike Justin, but he and Rebecca work the land in a detached manner. They seem to talk to the land, and do not talk with it and nurture a relationship. This is what I’ve come to expect from Justin’s channel and content…he speaks to his followers but does not speak with them and nurture a relationship with them. Please be mindful.

I spent time in Hopi Arizona a few summers ago. They have a tradition growing organic corn. They plant many seeds in a hole and I learned that they plant a kernel for the hair, for the bird, for the rain, etc. They end up growing enough for themselves and the life around them. It's a beautiful principle and it made me happy to hear you speak of life in the garden in the same way.

I just saw something about that! I think PBS did a show about the huge drought threatening the western part of the U.S., and they interviewed this Hopi Indian guy. He scooped a shallow hole in the ground, poured some corn kernels in it, and put the dirt back over it. He called it “dry planting”. The plants are never watered. Between water deep in the ground, and the small bits of rainfall they get each year, they grow on their own. The seeds have been saved and used for generations so they are built for that climate. Pretty cool.

I am a real person and I will show emotions when I naturally show them. It actually made me a bit mad. Well, so was he. He yelled at me over the phone saying, "Do you know how many people would give an arm an leg to be on this show?" But...I would not do it. @@alisonowens1921 just a thought...instead of being sad that you can't subscribe to the platform at this time, try praying for the opportunity to be able to subscribe in the weeks to come. I don't know you personally so I have no idea what your financial goals are and if the money's not there (been there in a major way myself) - then honor that season of restraint...but if it's a matter of budgeting to allow for it, that is different. There are many people in this group that have decades worth of seeds in their storehouse so they had the money to purchase far more seeds than they can use in this lifetime because it comforted them in some way to do so. So, sometimes it's not a question of not having the money but where it's spent. However, if money is super tight and there genuinely is no wiggle room to subscribe, then I encourage you to pray for opportunities to generate extra income so that you can subscribe if it's truly a heart's desire. God will bring things to light - whether it's having a garage sale, getting an unexpected order for eggs/produce/milk, or something that you make by hand, an extra shift at work or a pay raise, etc....otherwise, if it's more of a "fear or missing out" - then a heart's desire - have no fear - youtube, Instagram ad her other outlets will still meet your heart where you are.

About 15 years ago my parents transitioned to organic farming for their apple and cherry orchards here in the PNW. They started to have aphid problems as well. I was a teenager at the time and my parents ordered crates of lady bugs. When the lady bugs arrived, my family and I went with the lady bugs and just scooped them into the trunk of the tree. I am so glad for the blessing of your success! I am also sad to see you go. You have been a beacon of happiness for my homesteading/farming education on youtube. I dont think you realize how very RARE it is to find an apolitical, fully welcoming, and non judgemental channel. Especially for urban dwellers or 9-5ers or persons of non white ethnicity, or non Christian faith. To find a channel that doesnt attack people for living a different lifestyle, but still wants to learn how to grow on the balcony of their 8th story apt without back handed comments about "the right way to live". It is VERY hard to find a channel like yours! You will be sorely missed. The Rhodes dont fit the same description :(

Good for you Shari. I have had several medical issues recently and have survived them all by having a positive attitude about the outcome, and giving myself something to reach for while in recovery. For one surgery I prepared all the supplies to make a quilt I had wanted, and so went about creating it while I got back on my feet. For another I did a watercolor of a big beautiful Pink Rose which now hangs on my wall and reminds me that I am a breast cancer survivor.... It makes me feel stronger when I see these things that I have learned and created while in recovery. There is great accomplishment in healing oneself, use this down time, it is a gift.

@@myztery6719 you can pay monthly and there is no commitment - so you can cancel at anytime. There are tiers of subscription levels - people that just want access to the docuseries and his prior documentaries are at one level and then it goes up the full community level with their entire catalog (all of his classes, youtube vlogs, docu series and more). So, if people have no desire to homestead themselves or are quite a ways from that goal, the first tier is a good one to stay connected to the lifestyle and have clean content, etc. They are approx 20 minutes long (which is the minimum required to be on Netflix, for example). Justin mentioned earlier this year that he hopes to bring on 3 or 4 more families to the content mix within the next year so it's not just about the Rhodes family - feature people in different parts of the country, different stages of growth/different goals, etc.

I hope this all works out for them but I do honestly have one question that comes from a place within me that just can't reason currently spending money on an app to view them. Purchase items from them to support them directly when the budget allows. Question is how could she ever show all the content for free on KZbin then expect people to watch a repeat on the app they pay for ? Anyone is naive if they truly think there won't be more shown on the app not shown on KZbin. What will one miss out on not paying monthly I feel is a lot of what people questioning it is asking. How will they have time with all they have ahead of them to do all this recording and still have the amazing content they do on KZbin. Yes they totally deserve to make a living but the one chick saying they didn't get paid sure they do from ads on KZbin that people watch while watching them, also from sells of their merch that viewers bought to support , affiliate links and so forth so no need to come at my comment to the young lady attacking others for their questions and opinions that they have a right to have just as she does have a right to hers. But not a right to attack someone of thiers. Also the other lady posting the video to watch of the Rhodes first episode... how do you not get the concern that its obviously paid content for a reason and those that watched him have expressed a change in his channel here on KZbin. People are worried that they will now with an already tight budget have to pay to watch a family they have come to care and love like thier own. Its a legitimate worry that hopefully over time as R&R hopefully contuines to share on KZbin it will squash those fears of the feeling of missing out. People have their right to not support someone else that owns the app because their practice doesn't align with theirs. It sucks that this opinion and thoughts will keep them from the extra R&R content also but that is their choice. I just know currently my family, garden and home is in a major time of growth and I can't afford even the $6 package. That makes me sad but ill just continue to watch them on KZbin and hope they stick to how it has been atleast even if on a smaller output. Don't tell me to save or pray for the money to afford it trust me when I say every extra dollar goes to preparing this house to sell in a few years to get the most we can to purchase our forever farm that by far out weighs any entertainment I would like to pay for extra outside of our internet. We don't even have any paid subscriptions or cable just internet which is prepaid and super cheap. 🤷‍♀️ I wish them the best of luck on this new adventure.

It's not necessarily bad, but influences of things and people not in our control can affect our perception and how we are precived . Justin Rhoades whom I also follow, talked about wanting control of the platform he was putting his labor into . That was about the time You Tube started cracking down on people with kids in thier videos. He felt threatened that YT could arbitrarily end his way of supporting his family. At 40 + that's scary stuff. I've always enjoyed what you have done through your YT channel and look forward to continuing supporting you here . God places people in our lives for a reason and it came full circle with them knowing Daniel. If that's not a sign that this is meant to be then I don't know what is!😃 I am excited for all of you and I can't wait to follow all of you on your journeys. God Bless.
