Great video thanks. I find glazing very intimidating, I tried it once on a credenza with lots of detail and by the end I was pulling my hair out lol I ended with a sticky mess and very uneven strokes. I do like how it gets in every crevice of the wood and looks amazing. You make it look easy so maybe I’ll give it another go😉

Yes, I think many people find it intimidating! I think the key is keeping it wet and having some Krud Kutter handy. Give it a try and see how you do!!

Very nice. Thanks for the tutorial. I’m painting and antiquing a church pew and I didn’t know whether I should put a sealer first, before antiquing it. I now know to seal it BEFORE antiquing it. Also, I didn’t know using the Krud Cutter and spray bottle were so useful. You saved me from potentially ruining my church pew. This tutorial was very helpful.

thank you for this informative video! great job. I understand that this glazing technique works well with the types of furniture that have frames, curves, engravings etc. where the glaze stays after wiping, but what if I need to glase a simple painted stool that doesn't have those? Its very basic stool, just legs and the top, and I wonder what stays and where when I cover it with the glaze and wipe afterwards. I painted it in nice yellow, but wanted to add some used antique look with dark edges and some dark patina around the joints. But the issue is that using your technique the glaze at the edges, where I do want it to stay, will most probaly get wiped off. What do you think I shall do to make it look like a want? And would the whole thing work if I use watered down dark acrylic paint over the main layer of paint, also acrylic? thank you!

My water sprayer was too wet and wrong crud cutter was used (didn’t even know they had different kinds🤷♀️). Found this again, Thank to Lord, and realized I missed one IMPORTANT point. Put a top coat under glaze of paint doesn’t have a sheen. Amazing difference! Now following so I don’t lose you. Thank you so much! I was thinking of painting my previously cherry stained oak kitchen cabs in a antique white GF milk paint. I want to glaze with GF van dyke brown. I was thinking of also using the GF pearl effects paint in champagne as another layer. Do you think I should use the pearl finishes after the antique white, but before I glaze with van dyke brown? Or do you think I should paint antique white, glaze, and then top coat i the champagne? I don’t have an extra door to practice on.
@RootsWingsHome5 жыл бұрын
That sounds amazing! I think I would do Antique White, Glaze, then Pearl Effects. If you would feel better practicing, I would either do 1 door and play with it (you can always paint it over and start again) or go to a home recycling center, they usually have old cabinet doors for just a few dollars. I hope that helps! Good luck!!

No, although some people use it the same way (which works in most cases). Gel stain is really meant to cover wood (finished or unfinished) and is oil based, which makes it harder to work with in this kind of application.
