That's the reason I went with the Kong Duck. It can be used with either of the popular sizes of ropes. I read that the Ropeman 2 for smaller ropes tear up your ropes.

I went with the kong and the 8 mm ropes. I originally bought the 13mm because I wasn't sure if I would really like the saddle. Once I got comfortable I upgraded and plan to primarily saddle hunt.

New to saddle hunting here. I wasn't sure of the differences between the two products but great explanation!

So where would I get the rope then? All I find are the ones with built in prusiks
@GeorgiaAfield Жыл бұрын
You can remove those prusik knots by simply untying them. I'm just using the standard 11mm ropes sold by Tethrd. But you can buy raw rope from climbing supply stores too.

Teeth are from ropeman2 that does the rope damage. The ropeman1 doesn't
@GeorgiaAfield Жыл бұрын
Good to know. I haven't had any issues with the Ropeman 1. I can definitely understand how those "teeth" on the Ropeman 2 could do some damage.

1st week saddle hunting and bought the ropeman 2, I can testify that the ropeman 2 does bite up your rope and makes the descending process much more difficult because those teeth just bite so easily.

Not really. Rock climbers use teethed hand-ascenders more regularly than hunters, and retire their ropes from age, not use.

Ropeman 1 and 11 mm works great.

It's not a legend! DUCK slips even on 9.5 mm rope that's under tension. It slipped to much that I could count. I still use it but whenever I want it to grip, I put a bit of pressure on the "beak" to bite the rope.

Just got a recall notification on the ropeman 1 with batch # 05A0772

Yeah and they are taking their time replacing the devices. They have had mine for over a month with no new ones.😡

This is how the damage happens kzbin.info/www/bejne/bna6hIqdpJZjZsU So no worries when used as intended BUT if you have slack in the system and take a fall, with most ropes used being static, those loads can happen quite easily.

The king will work with that carabiner, just slide it over the other way
@markb8360Ай бұрын
Neither. Paracord prussik tender works the same and costs nothing.
@alexthurber1082Ай бұрын
Definitely doesn’t work the same. Paracord prussik works yes. But far from the same thing.

@@alexthurber1082 both allow one handed adjustment which is all I require.

So you chose the Ropeman, and only bought the Kong to do the "vs" test? But you did not make a recommendation? Maybe I missed it; sorry if I did, I'm sure you wouldn't leave us hanging. When you advertise "vs" video - I feel it is an obligation that you state your opinion. If I didn't miss it - and you failed on that objective; I can only recommend that you do it again and do it right.

I think he’s just trying not to be objective and giving others the ability to make their own decision while not being swayed either way

He has zero obligation to state his opinion. He only has an obligation to show the devices and let people decide for themselves. Guess we'll wait on your video to post.
