Seen Rory live at the Ambassador Theater in St. Louis Mo. in 1974. I was 14 years old and I still remember that show better than what I had for dinner yesterday.

42 years ago, on 20th November 1981, during the College Challenge Tour, in England, and after a gig, I waited in the autograph queue, and then the next thing I knew everyone behind me fell away. Then my relative returned . She had ordered a taxi. The upshot, We were the last people in the queue who spoke to Rory that night. Soon after that, the band left the venue. A few minutes later Donal materialised and from then on Rory and Donal stayed with us for quite a while. Enough time for me to get to know them both. We found ourselves to be quiet alone with them. The brothers were very kind and polite. So much that the gentlemen took a shine to us both... So bearing that in mind, I behold a natural and precious memory of Rory and Donal. So considerably so that I have written my own story of how my memory of meeting the brothers recently surfaced. Sure my emerging book theme is set in my past and explores who I am but my account of Rory in my narrative is very special. In all this time, and I have certainly searched the globe too, I have not found another captivating observation of Rory's personality and lifestyle like mine. He was indeed understated in his manner yet he communicated. He used ESP. He linked with me on another level entirely. Anyway one day soon and I know I still have a long way to go ( But when I have gotten my book done) I hope you will see what a beautiful soul Rory possessed for yourself.

Went out in 1975 to buy Calling Card as I had grown up with Live in Europe. Have to be honest and say I was initially a bit disasapointed as I wasn’t expecting Rory to vacate his throne as the high king of the rock and blues sound. The melodies just reel you in though and Edged in Blue is a fine example of what should be considered up there with any of Rory’s studio albums.
