This is how Rory opened the show, Smitty. Quintessential rockin' Rory. Consider how intense the Shadow Play performance was towards the end of this show and just imagine how amazing this entire gig was. There simply was/is no one that comes remotely close to seeing this wild gentle man perform live. So happy that you're going to react to his albums. While his live stuff is beyond compare, I equally love what he did in the studio. - some of which have a live vibe. All are different, all are amazing - first to last. BTW, you really should include his band Taste in the album reaction mix - if chronological, it's the best place to start. Anyway, thanks for another great reaction and keep on...

Just stumbled over your reaction to the late MAGNIFICENT Rory Gallagher. Check out Rory playing live at ( many times) ROCKPALAST, and on the Lorelei.

I can't add much to everything Nora said! Rory was a force of nature on stage. As he got older and wasn't able to do all the stage moves, his musical intensity did not diminish. He was a true master at his craft. Looking forward to more Rory reactions with you!

Can't beat Rory live, he played with so much freedom. I saw an interview with Gerry McAvoy and he said there was no set list in a gig, and the band only knew what the first two numbers were going to be. After that it was whatever Rory felt like playing so they had to be ready for anything. Check out Walk On Hot Coals, live on The Old Grey Whistle Test. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZOammSVetaDfqs

👍 Time keeps on ticking... Going through a box of old ticket stubs not long ago. My first rock concert: May 19, 1973 East Tennessee State University Rory Gallagher - ZZ Top 4 bucks It was about two months before Tres Hombres came out. (Dusty Hill's 24th birthday, I came to find out on his passing) It was Festival Seating and I managed to get about 15 feet from mic center. Rory Gallagher was pure fire right out of the gate, and his band was phenomenal. (particularly Lou Martin on his electric piano) Rory was amazing to see play and I think that he had as much fun as anyone. Then, BG and the boys came out. Back when they were the most badass blues rock band that ever was. Straw hats, jeans, no beards (but Frank. lol), and BG in a white tshirt w/ pack of Marlboros rolled up in the sleeve(lol). Needless to say, Rory and BG made a big impression on a 16 yr old. Blues rock, slide guitar nut ever since. RIP Dusty, Rory, Lou, and Rod. Thank You! Keep Rockin, Gerry!

This is a MUST WATCH mate. The interplay between the harmonica player (Mark Feltham) - who was a 'new boy' at the time - is fantastic, as Rory puts him through his paces. Enjoy!
