My absolute hero, and the reason I began to play the blues .Makes me proud to be Irish , RIP Rory
@williammendes2534 жыл бұрын
We loved him in Chicago. I was lucky to see him 3 times. The Aragon Ballroom, the Metro both in Chicago and in a raging blizzard in St. John's (?) Indiana, a hockey rink called the Omni. High energy from start to finish. At the Aragon show, I screamed in between songs for "Souped Up Ford" and sure enough he eventfully played it. I was walking on the clouds. We always went with the same bunch of fellow musicians we had worked with at one time or another , some blues, some rockers, some classically trained and we all loved Rory.

Man I wish I saw Rory. Nobody ever talked about him when I was growin up in the 80's. I didn't discover him until the late 90's. I got to see most of the greats that were alive in my day, but he slipped under the radar. Pisses me off. He is own of my favorites and perhaps the best of all that old 60's lots.. At least I got KZbin..

In Wikipedia it was wrote that his Liver failure was brought on by excessive, repetitive use of Paracetamol ( I expected the culprit to be booze, and , for all I know, it was the one with the other (?) ) and he actually had a Liver transplant. So very young to die and a tragic waste of Talent and Love. A genuine nice guy by many many accounts.😢

Yeahhh.... Too much alcohol, Yeahhh.... I went down on 31st Street, To pick up a jug of alcohol, Well, I went down on 31st Street, To pick up a jug of alcohol. Ahhh.... Told the man to put in some water, But he wouldn't put in a drop at all. I was drinking my straight alcy, And I went walking on down the street, Well, I was drinking my straight alcy, And I went walking on down the street. Yeahhh.... Well, my eyes got so heavy, I nearly fell half asleep. Well, I like sherry brandy, My baby sure like gin, Well, that little girl I got, Sure put me in the, Spin I'm in. Well, I went down on 31st Street, To pick up a jug of alcohol. Yeahhh.... I told the man to put in some water, But he wouldn't put in a drop at all. Whiskey make me drowsey, And gin can make you think, Well, a common cold can kill ya, But, my baby tell me to drink, I went down on 31st Street, To pick up a jug of alcohol, Yeahhh.... I told the guy to put in some water, But he wouldn't put in a drop at all, One hundred per cent alcohol, Well, let me have some. Well, I like sherry and brandy, My baby sure likes gin, And that little girl I got, Sure put me in, The spin I'm in. I went down on 31st Street, To pick up, pick up a jug of alcohol, Yeahhh.... I told the man to put in some water, But he won't put in a drop at all. Ninety one per cent, Better make it ninety two, Ninety three per cent, Ninety four, that'll do, Ninety five, Ninety six, Ninety seven per cent, Ninety eight, Bartender that's ninety nine, Make it one hundred per cent, One hundred per cent, One hundred per cent, Wanna try some, I wanna try some, One hundred per cent, Then I won't feel a thing at all.
