what do u mean fans never give credit to good managers lol? ppl r always debating who’s the greatest manager and I’ve never heard anyone talk about who the worst manager ever is. Koeman was awful for Barca but he’s had respect given back for his Netherlands performances. in the end of the day, u get credit for what u do not for what u don’t. so what he’s got them past the quarterfinals how many times? he won nothing and it’s not worth celebrating until it’s won. trust me when I say this, every English fans will be jubilant if they win and will not care one bit about no “Southgate out” or “boring football”. they want to win and saying Southgate should be sacked is an observation not hate or undeserved criticism

(A copy and paste) Here are some stats..... In the FIVE tournaments prior to Southgate this was the record: 2008 - Didnt qualify - zero games, no wins. 2010 - 4 games, 1 win v Slovenia. Thumped by Germany 4-1 in the second round. 2012 - 4 games, 2 wins v Sweden and Ukraine. Out to Italy on pens in the QF (4th match) 2014 - 3 games, ZERO wins, out in the group stages 2016 - 4 games, 1 win v Wales. Lost to Iceland in the second round. That is 15 games - 4 wins . Over FIVE tournaments. Contrast that with Southgate's FOUR tournaments: 2018 - 7 games, 4 wins - lost to Croatia in the SF 2021 - 7 games, 5 wins - lost on pens in the FINAL 2022 - 5 games, 3 wins - lost to France in the QF 2024 - 7 games - so far 4 wins - reached another FINAL. That is 26 games, 16 wins - in one fewer tournament. Goals scored by England in four tournaments 2010-2016: 14 Goals scored by England in four tournaments 2018-2024: 43

When I was a kid I just wanted to see us get past the bloody quarter finals! (First tournament Euro 2004). Now I've seen us get to two finals and a semi as well as a quarter. We hadn't won a knockout game in 10 years when Southgate started! 12 years really since he had to wait two years for the first available knockout game. Some fans are spoilt.

I’m convinced many “English fans” would rather the team have been eliminated so they “could be proven right” and moan for weeks on end. Rather than actually see the team win and get to another final. All this talk about “deserving” to advance and win needs to stop because it’s completely irrelevant. Knockout tournament football is all about results, period. Southgate deserves criticism. We literally have probably the best or at least the top 3 squads in the world. Portugal and France are probably the only other two squads that are better than ours, but why did France go out? Because they play poor football, and are defensive. Portugal have a poor manager in Martinez. We have struggled to win every game this tournament even against the likes of Slovenia and Slovakia. We should have gone out to Slovakia and only became of a jude last minute overhead kick, did we not go out. Southgate is beyond lucky to have the squad he has or else he’d be out.

the first point that should be mentioned with Southgate is his luck with draws. Its not anything to do with him or his tactics. Do you think Terry Venables, Sven or Sir Bobby might have got to a final if he had the draws that Southgate had? I do! He has been relegated twice, stank tournaments out, hesitated to make the necessary changes, picked players by reputation. He the Ole of international football. Nice guy out of his depth. One final in 50 years isn’t enough, even if we win it, but getting to finals and not winning won’t make the history books either.
