To be honest I think Andrew a few years ago would have argued that you’re displaying the kind of thinking common in cults. Admittedly he’s drifted far away from that kind of analysis now he’s been sucked into a cult, but nonetheless before his ideological capture he would have identified the signs very clearly.

The News Agents aren't as popular as they think they are. I went on there to see how Sopell reacted to Edwards' sentence (never mentioned it of course) so saw a pod they were doing in August and they were selling tickets to their "live show". Saw a new one just now and they're still trying to sell tickets 5 months later. I went on one of the venues sites and they've barely sold half the allocation

Our society has always had snobs who like sneering at and looking down on people who are poor, sick, or who have little education. In the past these grandiose bigots tended to be wealthy people (family money or over-rewarded) from the upper or upper-middle classes. And they tended to be right-of-centre politically. Peculiarly enough, these distasteful people now tend to be politically left-of-centre. Otherwise not very much has changed at all.

I've got a lot of respect for Rory. But that doesn't mean he's right about everything. It just means he is - compared to you or me - fairly sincere. The last 300 years of political and technologically progress shows that in the long run intelligent articulate debate finds the right answers " once we have tried everything else". Rory is an articulate sincere voice for many of the wrong answers. By getting it wrong with clarity - he gives us clear beginnings for thinking out and articulating the alternatives Blue haired idiots screaming in the M25 can't do this. So we need 'articulate idiots'. They might even be partially right sometimes. Liberals and conservatives need articulate coherent opposition. Society is alchemy - not a series of robots that need to be hammered into a single unified script.
