20:08 Why didn’t black capture the knight on f4 and after white takes back, just take the bisschop on d3... whites queen has still got to take an eye at the knight on b3 so if Qxbd3 black can take the knight. Somebody explain plz
@hunterskull15734 жыл бұрын
Instead of white taking back white captures the other bishop on f5 with a pawn. Though this still wins the pawn on e3 so its a good move for black.

Eric, you were on fire today! This was one of your best rounds yet. You need to carefully reconstruct all the events, activities, and little routines you did that led to such a stellar performance. And then do it next time. Was it the Egyptian Licorice? Was it an invigorating run before the tournament? Was it plenty of sleep? Because if your thoughts continue at such a level of lucidity, there's no stopping you. Congratulations!!!
@persephonics24034 жыл бұрын
At 27:25 did you have nxd5 ? the pawn is pinned to the bishop. It threatened the queen and nc2 forking the king and rook.
@Terrashark4 жыл бұрын
It would probably work, the issue for black is that the queen is attacked and tied down to the g7 pawn, while the threat of Nc2 is looming. Not to mention if black never moves his queen (for some sort of counterattack), white would be able to take the black queen with check. I guess Eric might've missed this. The only other thing may be that the line gives white a material advantage, but black gets counterplay somehow, though I don't see any line that gives black substantial counterplay at all. This could actually be an opening trap in this line now that I think about it.
@RulezAPower4 жыл бұрын
Congrats, you spotted a devastating blow, tactics with knights where the queen gets attacked simply demolishes everything. Plus, there's no counterplay attacking white's queen, because knight captures with check. Congrats.

At 17:59 I feel like Eric kinda made a mistake, since black can capture on b2 and already the position is equal, which you don’t really want on move 4 as white. Alternatively you can play Qc1 with the idea of playing c4 and white is doing better. Just thought I’d mention it
