I'm in the process of replacing stems in a similar brass fixture. Rather than having a hex nut to remove stems, parallel flats are machined into the stem body. They provide a narrow shelf on which to grip with a wrench. To turn water on, either cold or hot, you lift the handle. To turn off, you press down. I removed the stem on the hot, right side. No problem. The cold, on the left would not budge. I was wondering, have any of you ever encountered such a fixture with the stem on the left reverse threaded? Since the two stems, in effect, operate as mirror images (since you lift to turn on, push down to turn off, on both sides) I thought this might make some sense. If that's not the case I guess I'll resort to a torch and heat up the faucet body.

Same sink and similar brassy faucet here. I need a better washer. Closing the handle is too tight. Not good because you can grind on the faucet seat and ruin it. Perfect washers are hard to find, I say.

Yes it was. Those are a little tricky. Your really need to use the seat cutter tool on those. If you don't re-cut the seat, the washer doesn't seal good enough. Look up how to cut a faucet seat?

Screw not gone …. It’s in the trap :……….but still plug drain so you don’t have to mess with trap ..

I have separate supply lines to my faucet just like the ones in your video, but they are impossible to turn. The just won't budge. Even spraying them with lubricant doesn't help. Do I have to loosen the nut behind the knob in order to get them to close?

It's recommended to turn all plumbing knobs in the residence at least once a year to prevent them from sticking. It could be due to minerals in the hard water.

Thanks for this video. The valves you shut off, are they for the whole house or are they specifically for the laundry faucet? Because I do not have laundry faucet valves but I do have the laundry machine valves. Does that mean I have to shut off the main water supply?

Yes, be sure and shut off your main water valve for the entire house before starting your faucet repair.

I put a tapered washer in mine (cone shaped) and the faucet started squealing. I still need a better washer in my similar faucet and these brassy older faucet types are harder to satisfy. Otherwise, they are my favorite type of laundry sink faucet--mine is 32 years old now.

Exactly! When doing a washer replacement you need to look in the base and determine if a cone shape washer or a flat washer is needed. And the height of the washer he used for replacement looked too thin to me. It may work for a bit but I would guess not too long before he will need to replace with the proper sized cone shaped washer. Been there done that!
