I missed the chance to talk about the voice acting, but I think the voice acting is really GREAT! It's the main reason I got to finish the movie at all. This movie gave me the simple story fairy tales which fits the theme so I don't really hate this movie, but I just don't mind it :))

@@sakiamira Me Too!😅😊 Since I was a boy, I generally liked "boy type movies" but I always was curious about what the girls were having. I only had the pleasure of watching it since my older sister had the whole Barbie Movie Collection and I decided I wanted to watch As Rapunzel since I loved Fairy Tales, I mean... who doesn't love Fairy Tales? I rewatched it enough that I could point out how Tangled (which came out many years later) had clearly taken some notes.

It hit me hard as a kid when Rapunzel came back to protect Penelope's FATHER. It wasn't penelope herself who would be punished but someone her friend care deeply about. That was a sacrifice. That was true friendship.

I just want to say I'm SO GRATEFUL I finally found someone who recognizes the bravery and inherent power that comes from virtue and kindness. Like, ive seen other reviews on this and other classic Barbie movies but they're often myopic in their idea of what strength is, both in real life and on screen. You just seem to understand that those quiet acts of bravery, the ones real life often demands, are far more important lessons than your typical violent monologue.

Honestly, I watched this review because this movie shaped me a lot as an adult and as an artist. The magic in the old Barbie movies could never be duplicated and sure the graphics and the story may be a bit outdated but for me these were all precious to me. The memories of me putting a hairbrush by the window before going to sleep to see if in the morning it had turn into a paintbrush. All of that and the lessons that I've learnt from there. About how Art can never be caged. How Art is freedom. That's what saved me on my lowest and darkest points in life. Today I am an artist and tomorrow and onwards will still be. I am happy this movie shaped me as a kid growing up into loving arts, movies and stories. Oh, did you also know that Rapunzel Barbie TM had a game too? It was very nice.

I REMEMBER THIS MOVIE!! We had this movie as like a Chinese bootleg disc or something from a relative. My native language is not English and I don't think there was an English option for subtitles or voice acting. Then again I was like, 8 so I could barely understand what settings or subtitles meant so it might have been. The point is, I never understood what the movie was exactly about so this was an insightful video! I do remember the theme song, magic brush, and the dragon aka Penelope. As a kid, I thought the brush was a super cool thing with the music! Also that nightmare(?) scene with the witch locking Rapunzel and taking the prince got me so scared as a child. Tysm for this nostalgia trip :)
