I’d say part of the problem with the older style is that there are plenty of people that screw that part up too There are plenty of videos out there of guys like Cena and Triple H clearing being heard shouting spots mid match for one It’s a harder skill to utilize it feels like know because, at least in my opinion, because of Vince’s heavy scripting habit that likely still having an effect even with him gone

That “modern style of choreographing the match beforehand” is 1. Not modern, Savage & Steamboat did it in their Mania 3 match and 2. Isn’t really common outside of WWE and some American indies. Spots or certain match moments might be but almost always are called on the fly. Calling it on the spot isn’t really the problem it’s just that for some reason a lot of AAA’s luchadors do this dumb shit where they just keep doing the spot until they actually do it and it’s dumb. It’s not a lucha libre thing either

I understand the complaints that the new ROH Women’s World Television Championship. This is where I personally feel that I agree with this belt. Even though I won’t disagree that it’s available on their streaming service and they can do whatever they want. I’ve been watching ROH Weekly TV (which is on a Thursday Night) and Pay Per Views since they got back, Tony Khan has booked the women’s division a lot better than the women’s division on AEW TV. Given the women have been given more matches, more time and more storylines to work with either short feuds or long feuds. Like Athena is having some of her best moments in ROH Women’s Division and being the focal point of the show that she main events two pay per views back to back. The two were ROH Death Before Dishonor against Willow Nightingale in my favourite Women’s match of 2023 and recent ROH Final Battle in my favourite Women’s Storyline with Billie Starkz. So bringing in the new Women’s TV title is actually justified if you watch the weekly show. It does fill the void of a complaint I have with the show. Most of champions won’t appear on ROH TV consistently. The only champs appear on a consistent basis is ROH Women’s World Championship, ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championships and ROH World Championship when Eddie Kingston is available to defend or be in a proving ground match. Just to be clear this is my opinion.

The dives make sense in 6 and 8 man Lucha Libre matches since you have people coming at you from all sides. You can believe that they didn't see the dive coming until it was too late to avoid it. That's choreographed to limit the number of people injured by all the stupidity happening at once. In one on one matches though, it really does just make both wrestlers look like gymnasts pretending to be wrestlers. It's so obviously fake that it makes it hard to be invested in who wins the match.

I'm a regular viewer of Jim Cornetite Drive By and Review shows on KZbin. I didn't mind his criticism of EL HIJO DEL VIKINGO and the failed attempts trying to do a springboard off the top rope and Black Taurus patiently waiting like a 50 Cent song. How many attempts did he need to execute the move ? It reminded me of Nate Robinson 14 consecutive failed dunk attempts in 2006 NBA All-Star Weekend. Black Taurus just stood there waiting for him to hit the move. How long is too long to suspend your disbelief? I know Jim Cornette was trying to be fun by saying Mantaur because he obviously didn't know Vikingo was wrestling Black Taurus but it takes two seconds to do a Google search if you care about accuracy and facts. How about showing some measure of respect to Mike Halac who portrayed Mantaur in the WWF that passed away on July 11, 2023. . I thought it was pretty classless joke in my opinion but Jim Cornette is a equal opportunity offender.

If you watched the actual match you’d have seen how absolutely amazing and athletic both Vikingo and Black Taurus are. Final Battle was a great show and Vikingo has been killing it in AAA lately. Do you even watch his videos? He hates all bad wrestling even in WWE, he doesn't just hate AEW blindly. Wrestling is a simulated real world fight. This means it needs motivation and should be within real world logic. AEW after the Punk era doesn't give two shits about this, and has a lot more unnecessary spamming of moves instead of meeting the objective of a real fight which is knocking a guy out enough to pin him and making money in the process. How does waiting for your opponent to jump on you a good fighting move? If it is the acrobatics and athleticism you want, go to the circus or a gymnastics meet.
