I agree its passed the time we just give another name to our beautiful language. But Brazillian would just be too obvious like the other names around the world, just copying the name of the country. I suggest a name of a female gem... Sodalita. I speak Sodalita, my words come out shiny deep blueish and quite salty like the Salt Blue Stone. 🗣😻👯🏿👯🏾‍♀️👯🏼‍♂️

It does sound weird to say I spk Portuguese.We have enough words from other origns to just be sth else. Let the Portuguese be the Portuguese and keep their language intact. Catalan is just like Portuguese and Spanish, yet they are Catalan. Without the stiffness of the grumpy Portuguese we could really go wild and put our clever and witty slang into the dictionary.😂🎉

Honestly for an environment where everybody speaks fluent english as a second language like the guests, I think english doesn't really have that exotic or surprising factor anymore. Like you're so used to the language and hear people speak it that it just naturally falls of in the ranking. It doesn't always apply obviously, but at least for me I'm just so used to the english "I love you" and how native speakers use it that I kind of got desensitized to the sound of it whereas french, portuguese and spanish I don't hear on a regular basis if at all, so I feel more attentive and the phrase itself is more exotic if that makes sense. I think it's extremely hard to rank it like this because of your own bias, especially based on your native language. Like for example I'm german and people say german sounds harsh and I can logically follow the thought process, but I just simply cannot HEAR that. I'd wager we all have a lot of bias we aren't even aware of, even when we think we're being as objective as possible. That's just how we are and that's totally fine, too.

You're right! American English is very beautiful. I like languages with contractions and liaisons, because they sound smoother. English, Portuguese and French work this way.

English is... The Monster of Frankstein. If English did not had spread to the world the way it did, it would probably be remembered as a weird exotic language spoken in a forgotten by god island. I've no pleasure talking it, learning it, typing it or reading it. People from very distinct cultural backgrounds now are socially expected to learn it to have better access to knowledge or better jobs. This "ew, what's that" language doesn't make any grammatical sense. As a romance language speaker, who learns poetry is about building verses not just to rhyme, but to fit together, English just sounds rebellious, bad looking trash.
@LuisKolodin
@LuisKolodin 4 ай бұрын
@@Disconnected554 English is bad for talking about feelings, compared to Portuguese, but It's very good for technical precision and sharp humour. The fact that it is a Frankenstein is very helpful for making it international. And its grammar is pretty simple, easy to learn for foreigners. It's also easier to write in elegant and concise way (Portuguese is a disaster in the hands of most native speakers. If you don't master the language, it easily becomes redundant, verbose and boring. Too much grammar syntax possibilities is good for expressive literacture but a nightmare for common people who just want to write simple and direct things.)

When English speakers hear German, they hear Nazism. We don't listen to German music, watch German shows, or really anything. It's almost always in a historical film kind of context for most people. That's a big part of it. More exposure changes that perception, and plus there are different accents. The girl in this video isn't harsh at all

Secondly, it is common to see Portuguese (Brazilian dialect), Italian, Spanish and French as the most romantic and sensual languages and currently for young people around the world Portuguese is seen as the most sensual, loving and affectionate and sweet in the world, while English and German are perceived differently as administrative languages. It is interesting to see how people's perception of languages can reflect different cultural and emotional aspects". It's true what the portuguese said...Countries where people speak english say 'I love' to anything diluting this important word, for example: 'I love hamburgers,' 'I love this song,' 'I love drinking breakfast,' etc...But in portuguese the word 'Love' is very serious, not said for anything and most of the time it is said for people who really love. I am a speaker of brazilian portuguese, not being biased towards my language, but being honest, for me the most romantic and sexy language of all is certainly french, while the least sexy are certainly spanish, along with german which they sound more rigid to me, as well as serious.

I think that all these statements are full of biases and associations external to the language itself. They are based on media productions (soap operas, advertisements, products, etc.) and the English/American worldview itself, and disregard, for example, the musicality, affection and poetry, inserted in several words of Portuguese, if not in the entire language. The Portuguese language, in a global context, is also sidelined, because even though it is one of the most spoken languages in the world (even more so on the internet), has great global importance and is very similar to Spanish, little is said about it and people already judge it without even knowing what it sounds like, just as they do the same with Portuguese-speaking countries.

@@Edu77_ Portuguese from Portugal sounds guttural, so it emphasizes masculinity. It's sexy for male speaking, just like Russian. Personally, I think it's beautiful. The accent, IMO, is the best accent for speaking perfectly all the plural "s" because of the language "tempo". In Brazilian Portuguese it's stressing to pronounce all the plurals perfectly because our speaking is slower so it'd take much time in our speech and it results in tiredness. That's because in the everyday speech of the population, there are lots of phrasal constructions were words in plural aren't pronounced with the final "s". The phrase "Todas as casas são bonitas." Is way faster to say in the portuguese accent than in the Brazilian one.

@@JochenSchoenherr yes and no. Portuguese is close to French sonority (liaison, contractions, smooth ending vowels, nasals) but radically different to Spanish and Italian. English does contain all these phonetic features instead, and share with Portuguese being a stress-timed language (while Spanish and Italian are syllable-timed).

I love the 80s song 'Take my breath away' by Berlin and definitely think it's an underrated romantic saying in English. I also like the term 'mon petit chou' (my little cabbage) in French. I think it's hilarious but endearing and wanna use it sometime lol. Overall though my favorite is Spanish.

I want to propose to the World Friends channel a beautiful, fun and friendly proposal with 2 ancient cultures present on the channel that have been ignored for too many years. The 2 cultures are neighbors to each other also geographically. It is about the Baltic and Finnish Uralic cultures together, translating further, it is about uniting in love and interaction Lithuania and Latvia with Estonia, Finland and Hungary. Then you can have the models try food from other cultures, dance, do musical quizzes in the different languages involved in the interaction and studio recording, music and arts quizzes and memory games in different languages. These are valuable cultures that deserve to be shown on the channel but are ignored and forgotten. Put an end to this forgetfulness and obliteration of these cultures, show them on the channel and to everyone who loves World Friends. Hugs and kisses.

I think the problem with english is mostly how big its reach is. There are so many different cultures speaking english that when we try to think of english it becomes kinda diluted, we think of a global, no personality version of the language. But think of the many versions of it in england, ireland, scotland, many regions of the us, african american dialects and expressions... there's a lot of personalities, it's just not contained all within one word anymore.

As a linguist, I can completely separate how it sounds with the pragmatic and vocabulary. I speak five languages. In the case of French I live in France and based on my experience with the language-culture and comparing to the others, I can definitely say it is the language that sounds the most cute and lovely, but the poorest to express love or feelings in general besides anger or disagree. It's not a critic, just the reality when we copare with Spanish, Italian or even English. However, French is a monster in terms of categories and methodologie vocabulary only comparable with German and, nowadays, English. Chapeau for that. A friend of mine told me once: "Tell me what language you speak and I will tell you how you love."

Agree 100% with the evaluation in general of the languages with respect to sexiness. English and German are as they said, more poetry based. An example I was thinking of when watching this video was John Lennon's song "Across the Universe" that he wrote with the Beatles. Being able to paint a picture with exquisitely chosen words.

Considering only how the language sounds and not the meaning of the words As a Brazilian I would classify 1 - French because it sounds romantic to me as Ana said, even that phrase "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?" by Pink sounds romantic 2 - English because most of the romantic songs I know are in English, here in Brazil you can hear songs like Take Me To Church or Beautiful by James Blunt at weddings when they don't know the meaning of the lyrics in English because it sounds good to the ears 3 - Brazilian Portuguese because it is really fluid, I don't know how to express it, but I like the Brazilian rhythm 4 - Portuguese because in some sentences I find it strange the way they construct them but it sounds like French to me, like a little bit harsh French 5 - Spanish because to me at least it seems like they are speaking in 2x and I don't like that rush but I agree with them that it can be sexy and romantic at the same time 6 - German, although Lara sounded good, most of the Germans I heard speaking didn't sound so pleasant to the ears
