@@M1rFortune afaik, two main problems; one, it 'learns' (steals) from the works of other artists without their consent, and two, a good number of corporations are casting aside their actual artists because AI is cheaper. effectively, it is taking from human artists without their permission whilst simultaneously making finding jobs as an artist, which is already quite difficult for many, even harder. it isn't the fault of the AI itself, it is merely doing what it is programmed to do, more so it is the fault of the corporations and those who seemingly don't understand the value of art taking the subject for granted. in summary, it can be used and navigated ethically/in a beneficial manner, but currently it is - like most new technologies - being abused for efficiency and profits.

"Because scientifically it doesn't really make sense" - hue shift in light and shadow does make a lot of sense scientifically. Light has hue (related to its wavelength or more exactly its spectrum of wavelengths) and the visible color of things in direct light are influenced by that color. Things in shadows are influenced by the hue of the ambient light (light dispersed in the air, reflected from the environment and so on. Outside a big part of it is often the blueish skylight). Unless It was about something else and I misunderstood.

Happy birthday, Ross! I always enjoy your videos. A lot of these tools aren't in my main art program (Paint Tool SAI), unfortunately. :( You'd have to do them manually, with the layers merged together, or use a second program to get some of the same effects. Seeing this video made me realize just how much more potential my art could have by experimenting with color more often. It was enlightening to see things that I've admired in you and other artists' art demonstrated in real time. Thank you for always being an inspiration!
