Nice job removing that seadeck without damaging it. Takes a lot of patience. Can’t wait to see how you tackle the stringers. Great video 👍

Definitely tested our patience! We still have to take out some more. But we’re definitely not paying for a new sea deck lol🤙

you got a serious project on your hands.Looks like the stringers are toast as well the middle core is rotten or looks to be. I would test for moisture. were those stress cracks on the strakes? If it is there could be some hard spots throughout the build. IF you are going to rebuild it might as well strip the whole thing down to the hull only grind everything down and a layer of glass to ensure there is no issues in the strakes then rebuild it. If not it might not be worth the time and energy just depends on what you are willing to spend. Just make sure when you remove the floor and stringers to lock the hull in place so it doesnt hook on you.

Yeah the stringers look like crap. As the boat sits, the hull looks straight with no hooks so that’s pretty promising. I didn’t notice any stress cracks that were any real cause for attention but I’m gonna go over it tomorrow with a fine tooth comb. I had a talk with the rep from FGCI, our partners, and from the footage I sent them, they suggested we dig out the stringers and fill with high density foam or poured stringer like we did with our transom. All you mentioned is great advice and we appreciate you! We’ll prob post something else up next week so we’ll let you know! 🤙

The boat won’t hook as long as you keep the cap on it and don’t remove the stringers. Make sure you brace the hull before you cut the stringers out correctly. Fgc should be able to tell you where the braces need to be before removing the stringers

Awesome! Thanks for that. Stringers will stay in for sure and so will the cap! 🤙

I don't know if it's too late, how long ago this was filmed, but your stringer core doesn't matter if there's enough fiberglass there to support. Meaning, you don't have to take the old stringers out, who cares if there's rotten plywood encased in the fiberglass. The plywood isn't what's making your boat rigid. Just add more fiberglass on top. @SailLife rebuilt all the stringers in his Warrior 38' sailboat without tearing them out, and he's crossed the atlantic in that boat since then.

Hey Elle! Thanks for the tip. We started this project this week so it’s fresh. We spoke to the guys at FGCI and they recommended we just dig out the inside of the stringer leaving the outside fiberglass shell and use high density foam poured into the stringer. Then, fiberglass the top. The problem with leaving the wood in there is that the foam and the wood is all water logged so laminating on top of that would be difficult plus all that added weight from the water. We still have more digging to do so we’ll be back at it tomorrow! Thanks for the support! 🤙

Wow bruh!!!!! This is going to be a long, long, long term project. Then you working outside. I'm having that problem as we speak. I'm ready to glaze, gel coat and finish my fiberglass fills, but weather and job are affecting completion. .. If only I had access to a warehouse for two weeks.

Whatsup brotha!? Yeah this is gonna be a fun one! We’re trying to get this thing going before the rains come! Last year it was almost impossible! It would rain every afternoon down here it’s awful! We might just buy a little carport from harbor freight. That might work for you too! 🤙

Looks like big trouble a lot of work and time to get it done right and not just patching it up to flip, might not be worth it unless you’re planning to use it for a while and have fun with it

Hey Larry! We definitely want to keep her and have fun with her! It’s really alot easier sometimes to just hookup the little boat and go compared to the bigger one! Plus, we gotta make videos for you all🤣 thanks Larry! 🤙

Andres Just found your channel. The first video I watch was Perfect boat on side of road. I'm interested in buying a boat. One of my top picks is a Grady White, but an open to other brands. Would you be willing to help find a great candidate to purchase. I live in N. cal been wanting to go on a road trip....

Hi Loren. I think your best bet is to go on market place and search for what you’re looking for on there. Idk what your budget is, but if you’re looking for a Grady, try finding something fairly newer. I believe they had quite a bit of rot issues before 99 that was fixed shortly after that. Not sure what the prices of used boats is in NorCal but in south Florida they’re usually higher than anywhere else. 🤙

The old adage hole in the water as long as your doing this effort for yourself abd not with the idea of resale your all good. Trust ne I know I've got a 1979 21 ft. cuddy over 20 plus years god as my witness 50 grand in it. Bottom line I'd do it again perfect bost fir my needs

Yeah we’re gonna stick with this one for us. We can relate, we spent two years working on our Grady and just like you, we’d do it again if we have to. The market is insane. Goodluck finding a new 21 cuddly today for 50 grand. For reference, a new Grady 20 overnighter is 175k 😳🤙

You whats a better deal to fix? Buy a newer boat on copart auction and do fiberglass repair on it . Then you get a new boat for cheap and its easy to sell for big money when done.
@perfectfitboating
@perfectfitboating 5 ай бұрын
That’s definitely a way to do it. Only thing is you have to come up with a lot of cash for some of those auctions. I’ve definitely looked at doing that same thing though! 🤙
