Thanks for joining me on the channel, I hope you enjoy & find it useful.
What I thought was going to be a small job repairing some loose boards quickly turned into a major refit, and with the added complication of not being able to buy everything I needed to fix it properly.
I look forward to your comments & please subscribe.

I got my shed second hand 25 years ago and have done this repair twice ( I used 10 foot pallet wood so very cheap). Regular painting and regular roofing felt replacement keeps it going and dry inside.

That was mostly dry rot IE wet rot that has dried meaning what ever was making that post wet isn't anymore. Your best option was to stop the source of the water and see if it stays dry before actually working on fixing the damaged wood.

You have that wood on the ground so obviously its going to rot, should be concrete or bick at that level then plastic layer inbetween that and the lower wood.

Did you lay a waterproof membrane under that bottom plate?😮

I would have got shiplap from somewhere or other , boards butted up together are about as much use as a colander , you will forever be chasing leaks in there

Got a similar shed to him and couldn't find the correct sizing of the shiplap board. Everything was bigger. Was eventually told that that particular sizing is only made for a handful of shed manufacturers and you can buy bundles off them!

His first mistake is having a wood base below what is obviously the water level.

Thank you for such a clear video, I am repairing my shed roof and it is a similar board construction with frame rotting as well. Added problem is that squirrels have chewed in through the gap and entered the main shed.

the back wall on my shed is totally rotten, ie the whole wall is rotten . I am not sure where to start The only place to attach anything to is the corner vetical posts. only has concrete foundations on the corners :) the front part of the shed is not too bad, just needs a bit of bodging etc. I could buy a new one, but the shed is really big and it would be a shame to demolish it

Are the new boards either shiplap or tongue and groove? Afraid no joint will cause it to leak. 😮

It sure is annoying working in a small space on the side of the shed. I have to jack up the shed and add a couple more cinder blocks for support as the original blocks shifted over the years from rain. Just picked up a bottle jack in case the floor jack doesn't work.

Ive thought about membrane on my shed base not sure if its best to leave it or use it. I suppose overlapping it outside is ok but not to lay timber on it as it might mean timber sits in water thats pooled. Good vid though and no doubt very satifying when that new upright piece went in nice and tight....better to cut off too little than too much eh.....overall though when the average new shed is now around £500-600 it definitely pays to repair one if its 80% still solid.

What saw did you use to cut the upright supports? Thanks

Is it not best to treat the wood before you install the new bits of wood ?

Yeah, about 45% of the joists on my shed have rotted away. Planning on doing a overboard repair.
