I just purchased my first RR sow belly trapper. Its a solid knife. Blades are thick. Everything is well done on this knife. Its the best RR design I have tried. The spey blade is wide and a useful design.

Today among other knives I received in the mail, came the blue smooth bone sowbelly trapper. What a delight, a little apprehension at first as it slipped out of the box, however a nervous cursory look told me I had a really very well made knife in my hands. After a closer look I found there is nothing coarse or badly finished about it and could be construed as a piece valued way above its retail. Cheers, Jeff.

I hope the blue was as deep and rich as the one I received since the color seems vary wildly knife to knife. Thanks for the feedback ih2w.

I don’t have any of the sowbelly trappers but I do have the Tobacco Road bow trapper. They also have the bow trapper in the Classic Carbon 2 series. I think the difference is the bow trappers have a slightly different clip blade. Love the blue bone. I love the blue bone copperhead that I have. Great video!

Thanks RJ. I don't have any of the Bow Trappers. but probably should add an example. It wouldn't be a pattern even in my top 8 from RR.

Thank you TK, a lovely selection of knives, I have a the Canoe in Buckshot Bone, I love the Sowbelly shape like you I am not a trapper fan, although one of my two new knives this month is a RR pen Trapper in brown stag, a lovely knife, oh by the way I want to thank you for the recommendation as the other knife I bought is the RR Midnight swirl small Stockman, a great looking knife looks good in my collection and for everyday carry.🤗👍 Take care Sam

Glad I could shed some light on the small sowbelly stockman. Not sure RR will ever make more.

Thanks. I just acquired the tobacco bone version. Not as pretty as yours, but no gaps, and very smooth over the pins. Beautiful knife to hold and use.

Nice knives, I like the blue smooth bone and tobacco bone on rough ryders

I feel like the photography on SMKW for the blue smooth bone knives does disservice to what they really look like.

I've always liked the tobacco bone covers on RRs and the brown antique covers on Case knives, I would much prefer those without the big ugly spey blade tho! Great main blade and would be nice and slim! Thanks for showing them 👍
@ThriftyKaniffy3 жыл бұрын
For a primarily Stockman guy the larger spey blade is a fresh change, though I won't be going out my way to get traditional Trappers.

I've got the RR1951 on the way. These RR sowbelly Trappers are quite jewel-like and I look forward to this one and the other RR's I've ordered.

I really like the blue bone. The plain bolster looks good on it.

Seems there's quite a few people that prefer the plain bolsters.

RR1906 through 1908 were made in 2017, but I can't find the date on 1951, which is an odd number for it because it doesn't have the R on the bolster.
@ThriftyKaniffy3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info. Yes, I was confused by the numbering of RR1951 as well.

I’ve got 1919 on that one. It’s part of a blue smooth bone series without the big R.

Hey, TK, have you seen the RITE EDGE BROWN JIGGED BONE SOWBELLY 210575 at SMKW? $6. Weirdly, the blades look like a whittler. Im hoping you’ll be fascinated, order one and tell me all about it. Lol. I’d be happy with any of these. Don’t have any sowbelly trappers.

SMKW had a 4 Sowbelly trapper set for 50 bucks at one time, but they are sold out of that one. They make a Sowbelly Trapper in the tobacco road series, but it looks larger than the ones you showed. Actually that one is called a Bow Trapper, but it sure looks like a Sowbelly to me.
@stuartgross1623 жыл бұрын
There is a bow trapper in the old southwest series. I have it and it is nice. A little more of a curve but similar.
@ThriftyKaniffy3 жыл бұрын
Yes, its a different pattern, but similar. More of a severe bow to it, and less attractive IMO.
