Awesome collection! Coincidentally, I was browsing my copy of Levine's recently and I saw that knife, third from last, that RR always calls "half hawks" are actually a very old pattern of knives for sailors and the traditional name for them is "Whalers" or whaling knives.

I purchase some RR a few years back and wasn't happy with the walk and talk and overall quality, but I recent purchased 2 RR and it seems to me that their quality control has gotten better over the years.

I just got my first RR a razor trapper has some flaws but for 16 all in on Amazon i would never complain i see more in my future...great collection u got there 😊

I have now received a few RR knives and I have to say I'm very impressed. A couple have very minor issues but truly nothing to bother me, they are nice pieces to look at and admire.

@@MrBarlow I started out trying to get just one pattern of each Rough Ryder traditional knife. Of course i got caught up in series & handle materials. I'm still missing some patterns, not because they are hard to find, it's just my focus wonders off.

I've always liked RR as collector's items. I'll let someone more knowledgeable testify as to their work ethic and whether they have a place in a toolbox. But they have awesome patterns and I like the ones I own.

I heated up some synthetic blue Rit dye in a pan (purchased at Michaels for $8) Then I dipped the knife in the heated dye for about a minute. Very easy method and it was my first dying experience. I think it turned out pretty good!

There's something to be said that I have between 10 and a 15 RRs and only one the exact same as any of yours. You cannot fault them for choice if you like a traditional. Do like their carbon steel though I have no complaints about their 440.

Just ran across your video you said you wasn't sure how the lady leg became a thing it was for gentleman gamblers the heel of the lady leg is actually a bottle opener I couldn't get the pattern till read this then the lady leg started to make sense
