Still here in 2024. I've heard many Mars Volta covers since you first posted this series, but these compositions still reign supreme! Thank you for posting these all those years ago, your piano covers are and have been a treasure to any TMV fans that happen to find them.

i used to put a lot less effort into my covers, just play it really simply. i think maybe that now theyre getting more views im trying to incorporate more parts/complexity into the song which couldbe taking away from it a little. i dunno lul
@RedactedBoredom16 жыл бұрын
i aspire to be able to do that. as a long time Mars Volta fan that is a stunning cover..

straight up amazing, and is it just me, or is it the fact that its played on piano, but this sounds like it could be classical TMV is amazing
@Leviathan55213 жыл бұрын
@iroddable There are pedals down by his feel. During the softer interlude sections, he presses on, which shifts the keys up and makes the notes have a softer attack. When released, they shift back, allowing more volume and louder articulation.

It's pretty interesting seeing this. I've just seen a interview with Omar here on youtube where he says the reason why he started playing guitar was actually because of some Puerto Rico salsa piano player. Great job!

Man, I love the mars volta... One thing I really REALLY loved was the strings quartet cover of de-loused in the commatorium. I found it so pretty. You covering this by piano gives the song a much calmer feeling to it, a whole different emotion arises out of it. Great video. Will you cover anything form their newest album? Bedlam in Goliath?

Can you please indulge us on the amount of preparation time that goes into each cover? How many times do you practice the song before recording it live? Incredible work. I would pay for a collection of these songs on CD and I'd pay to see you play it live. If you had the desire, you could play a full show with simply you and your piano. Thanks for posting.
