Hammer's commentary was very instructive (and entertaining). Thank you!

That’s impressive in fact, to be so eager to progress with so much love for calculations. It’s really a great basis for progression, even more with this positive attitude and ability to listen advices. At the end, Hammer is right about consistency, and it will be great if this sort of tournament definitively helps Anna to improve on this matter.

I don't understand how Anna can remember all the moves played, and the all the attacks she analyzed while making each move. Incredible memory.

It’s probably different for someone who only play bullet, blitz and rapid games online but if you’re spending hours thinking in a single game you will remember the moves.

Really enjoyed watching this game, loved the patience in snarfing pawn after pawn to build a solid win! Nice, Hammer is fantastic at commentary, lovely side stories, so interesting to hear his tactics and style of play. Been getting clobbered trying Vienna and Scotch gambits, switched back to the cow and won a game right away! Your opening has some real therapeutic benefits ;-)

I had no doubt that you will reach WIM someday. Wasn't sure about GM in the future. I believe Hammer would be a great coach to motivate and train you towards that future goal. You have time, desire, and a deep love of the game on your side, Anna!! Keep on keeping on!! ❤

Round 2 was amazing. The commentator knows Anna's tendencies and sure enough she castled Queenside. I can remember the moves of my game until I play the next game which has all my focus.

Finally! Hammer and Anna had a conversation after her match. They should have done it from the start. BTW... Did we just learn Hammer is no longer Alexandra Botez' coach?

The London triangle (London bridge) is thematic - a strong formation. There are 18 players ahead of Anna in Round 3. If she wins this round she will reach the top 10 boards. She was paired against a very strong player in round 1 and ultimately lost.

Excellent match. Time was great. Again. I'm beginning to believe you ARE getting better at controlling it- But your best statement? "I told myself to NOT COMPLICATE IT" - THAT? + your Time = GROWTH.

The London got its permanent name in a major tournament in London 1922 where it was played by strong masters including Capablanca - giving the opening legitimacy. And of course the current World Champion played it in his championship match. I believe if Black plays c4 in the opening if white plays Qb3 White should play Qa3.

On move 9, after white played Be2, black played b4 which neglected development of the bishop on f8. I would have played e6 before playing b4, opening the diagonal for the bishop to capture on b4 if white played C3xb4. As it is, white's castling on move 10 enabled black to play b4xc3 which turned out to be a brilliant move. Instead of castling, white could have played 10. c3xb4 with an equal position, as the knight would have to capture on b4, leaving the bishop on f8 undeveloped. It turned into a complicated game which Anna played very well.

@@M8_Bit I started watching the tournament 3 weeks ago with my granddaughter who we have weekly game but I am positive his comments is referencing his coaching her in past tense at end of this dream and was only coaching the older sister on other channel… a lot can happen in 3 weeks … big Hammer commentary fan and he seems a good grasp of this young ladies weaknesses.

@@M8_Bit For a lot of that tournament Alex ignored Hammer's prep and instead opted to use Banzea's. Which seemed to work out very well for her, so maybe she's parted with Hammer as a result.
